since you start this late,
you need:
the 1st world of warcraft(we call it vanilla wow)
2nd the world of warcraft expension: The burning crusade.
and the 3rd the world of warcraft 2nd expension: wrath of the Lich King
and a 60day game time card.

why do you need them?

world of warcraft,
this is the begining, almost every thing start here,
but it limit to level 60 max.
it got 30days free game time( but you need to input 60days game time card to get the 30days free game time, go figure)


you need The Burning Crusade
only with this expension you can choose blood elf(horde side), Dreanai(alliance side),
you get to choose a profession call jewel crafting to make pretty shining gems,
go to outland and keep level to level 70 max,

you need the wrath of the lich king
so that (if you got any faction, any charater over level 55) you can create a hero class: Death Knight.
you can go to Northren and level to 80cap,

and you are pretty much up to date
and can do anything we do at the moment.

and soon you will need the(if you decide to keep playing) World of warcraft 3rd expension: Cataclysm.(release later THIS year)
so that you can get to level 85


you need the cheapest deal of the world of warcraft battle chest,
world of warcraft battle chest come with the original world of warcraft and the expension The burning crusade.
MAKE SURE ITS "US" VERSION, NOT EUROPEAN VERSION

then the Wrath of the lich king expension

and thats pretty much it
