Recent generation/ model from HTC has wierdo design, unlike HD2 has minimalistic design and solid hardware quality.  icon_rolleyes.gif

Yup, my friend who has an Incredible S actually admired my HD2 because mine is slimmer than his Incredible S.
A lot of my friends are impressed with me on how I converted my HD2 from WM6.5 to Android. LOL

OK, I am going to install maps5.9.0-ownhere-signed.apk

So, this is the step?

1. Put maps5.9.0-ownhere-signed.apk in SD card,
2. Backup Google Maps, Clear Data and Uninstall from Market app
3. REBOOT
4. Install maps5.9.0-ownhere-signed.apk
5. Reboot
6. ????
*
Is that Google Maps? Why not you download the latest version from Market, bro?
If you can't find GApps in Market, try to find Market Access in Google.
Then set it to foreign providers. After that, your Market will be populated with GApps.

As andyjneo mention, try update with Market Enable before launching official Market, this would emulate US telco for download & update all Google apps.
You can also search for latest apk in XDAdevelopers by installing APK normally. IF you have trouble u might to clear Market cache and reboot again.

Can u explain what kinda navigation u needed ? why dont u try Sygic Auro or Papago for better nav ?  any link or detail of it ?  unsure.gif

Bro, since you're a MIUI kaki, I would like to ask you something regarding MIUI.
Can we arrange the apps in menu alphabetically? Last time when I tried MIUI, I can't do it. I've to drag the apps on my own.

Another Q will be which MIUI is the best and fastest?
I'm thinking of changing ROM again. Haha...

sry for noob ques, where do i find  Dalvik Cache? m currently back to windows mood. Is it in the file management folder?
*
Reboot your HD2. While rebooting, hold the POWER button till it enters CWM.
Once it enters CWM, use VOLUME button to navigate to AD Recovery.
Then go to Advanced, and Wipe Dalvik Cache.

After that, reflash by using your current/latest ROM.

Use NDT Gingerbread ROM.
That's the fastest Gingerbread 2.3.5 ROM available.

Curious question, why did you buy HD2 if you don't like WM?
Isn't it better if you just buy a Android device?
*
1. Cheaper than same specs phone.
2. Specs is on par with Desire HD, Samsung Galaxy S, etc.
3. Highly customisable - you can install Ubuntu, Meego, WM, Android, etc.
4. Wide/big screen.

MIUI is very neat and very skinnable than Cynogen Mod, speed not bad too, only its latest launcher feels lag. Originally develop from China geeks but now 99% port to English. You can try Jaguaralani MIUI for SD MAGLDR.
*
Thanks bro, but I would like to try NAND.
Let me try this Lady MIUI from xda.

By the way, what's the meaning of 150 partition layout?
Is it access to CWR, Services, Partition SD Card?

What about MOVE DALVIK CACHE TO EXT USING A2SDGUI IN THE ROM to MAKE a2sd WORK GOOD?
How to move it?

I'll pick HD2 anytime. Maybe in future, once HD7 is portable to Android, then get HD7.
Yes, I bought my HD2 2-3 months ago at RM850.
HD2 is highly customisable and a very good phone.

so many problems..

Anyone can recommend a good sense ROM for me?

At the moment i'm using the Hyperdroid (tweaked by myself a bit) - everything is good (excellent battery life btw).

However I missed Sense.. heheheh

Try NDT Sense 3.0.

Before installing rom, partition size was needed for reservation first. Imagine you got 512mb flashdrive & u will need to reserved 150mb for installing Android through CWR zip installation.

To setup the size of the partition, the flash.cfg will determine your partition size for Android

ie filename; flash.cfg

CODE
misc ya 1M
recovery rrecov|ro|nospr filesize recovery-raw.img
boot yboot|ro 5M
system ya 200M <--
cache ya 5M
userdata ya|asize|hr allsize

So (any) nand Android can be installed with be max to 200mb. If u put Rom which require more than reserve (200mb) , your android will not work due files overwriting & overlapping.  smile.gif
*
Bro, may I know where to find the flash.cfg and when to create?
Can I use HD2 NAND Toolkit to make my partition layout? I never did before.

Whenever I want to flash new ROM, I always boot to CWR and flash new ROM like normal. I never change or modify anything, eg partition layout, etc. I don't even know what the consequence is.

when u using Nand toolkit, u only need to enter the cache (default 5) and the partition 100/150/200/ etc etc, once u click flash button, the installer automatically generate flash.cfg itself and proceed for partition setup,

So no need to edit the flash.cfg, this only was mean for traditional CWR installation.

Thank you very much for the assistance.
I'm going to try MIUI now!

no problemo,
MIUI rom mostly require 150mb partition recovery, u can also use the same Recovery (150mb) for zip install Cynogen rom due similar partition size
*
Yeah, I've created. Done, using MIUI with Go Launcher EX. Looks better and faster. Loving it!

Is this guide good to create App2SD+ partitions?

Tried almost MIUI, some with problems, some are not up to my taste and some can't support A2SD.
Finally got the MIUI ROM that supports A2SD.

Those who want to try MIUI with A2SD, try PATs JW MIUI Sense like.

Yup, but I downloaded GO Launcher EX and solved everything.
I'm not really keen on Sense, and so used to GO Launcher.

The problem now is either there're some apps can't support my device or some apps can't be found in Market.
Damn, last time I downloaded a Cinema app when I was using CM7, now I can't find it in Market. sad.gif

hi mr.encore.

my friend ask me to nand-android her hd2. but im just too lazy to try out each n every rom to see which one have the least bug(s). im wondering too whether to run Sense or nonSense (yeah, nonsense) rom.

anyway, i personally prefer sense for this kind of user as it provides a more user-friendly interface. but even my Desire Z have problem coping with the intense footprint. I was thinking if HD2 can actually take it?

anyway, could you kindly recommend me a MIUI, CM7, and also a Sense rom? its like tons of choices for me and i guess listen to an expert is a better idea. smile.gif
*
For CM7 ROM, try NDT GINGER SERIES.
For MIUI with A2SD ROM, try PATs JW MIUI.
For MIUI without A2SD, try NDT MIUI DEVELOPMENT.

I personally still haven't try any Sense ROM yet, so I don't dare to comment on it.

pls help me... tq bros

Try to use HD2 Toolkit. You can find it here.

Instructions to reinstall everything (Follow instructions when prompt):
1. Perform Task29 (wipe everything)
2. Then reinstall MAGDLR
3. After that reflash your partition layout (refer to ROM recommended layout)

After doing the above steps using HD2 Toolkit, reflash your ROM using CWR.

Incompatible ? yup, latest Gingerbread variant somehow does do that. The only way to get it run is flashing other or older build which is troblesome dry.gif

Ya, after using MIUI for a few days, I'm tempted to go back to CM7 now.

So far, I've tried these MIUI ROMs:
1. NDT MIUI DEVELOPMENT (A2SD is supported, but up to 512MB only)
2. LADYMIUI (A2SD is not supported)
3. MXZ MIUI (A2SD is not supported but fast and stable)
4. BOYPPC MIUI (A2SD is not supported)
5. PATs JW MIUI (This is the closest and best MIUI ROM I've ever tried, but they're facing problem 2 and 3 below)
6. JW MIUI (Discontinued, PATs has taken over)
7. GOMIUI (Good MIUI ROM, but non-standard fonts is killing me)
8. MIUI.us Pure English version (Another good MIUI ROM, but no A2SD)

All the MIUI ROMs that I've tried so far have quite many problems. It's either one of these problems occur in MIUI ROMs.
1. A2SD not supported. I'm downloading tons of apps, so if A2SD is not supported, too bad.
2. Slow and lagging Market. Even when I download apps from Market, the new Market is damn lagging.
3. The country showed in Contacts are incorrect. +60 is Malaysia, not Netherlands Antilles while +62 is not New Zealand but Singapore.
4. Data on 2G/3G and WiFi is lagging. Very slow downloading.
5. Some of the apps (even ASTRO file manager) says "This app is not compatible with your phone".
6. Volume is too soft. Even after I flashed Volume+.apk, it's still very soft.
7. Non-standard fonts. I feel very headache when looking at non-standard fonts. I don't like act-cute fonts.

What I love about MIUI:
1. I don't need to install battery indicator. Stock MIUI shows that.
2. I love the browser. Tab browsing is very easy. I don't like 3rd party browsers.
3. I like the Toggles + Notifications when I drag down status bar. Makes me very easy to handle my BT, WiFi, etc.
4. I love the SMS pop-up when SMS received. I can reply straight away.
5. I love the Contacts display. They display name and company to differ 2 same names.
6. I love the iPhone style menu in Settings. Very easy to view.

Anyway, after facing many problems when using MIUI, I've decided to go back to CM7 since it's faster and more stable than MIUI. Sorry but I've to leave you in MIUI, bro. Haha...

P/S: By the way, I've yet to try this. From all the feedbacks, they said it's damn fast. The problem is I don't like "Desire HD" device tag in About and some Chinese characters. Haha, I'm really troublesome.

Speed and stability to me is very important. Frequent updates is nice, as long as they fix the bugs.

Now I'm back to CM7. Haha...
