I dunno. And dont care.
Seriously, does people still use that format? Its a dying format for god's sake!
*
There are loads of Asian videos in RMVB format, e.g. Taiwanese gameshows. BTW, Rockplayer plays RMVB. And very well too, on my Galaxy S. It's a pity though that Rockplayer does not support GPU acceleration - battery consumption is higher and does not play MKVs smoothly like the the built in video player app.

just curious.. erm.. what application is good to backup files in my phone?? and contacts?? saw somewhere that you can use google to backup the contacts. can someone teach me
*
Hmm, the same questions keep coming back. If your phone is rooted, you can use Titanium Backup (free version available) to backup your phone. I think MyBackup Pro (not free app) can backup non-rooted phones too.

If you don't know what 'root' means, please check the FAQs on the first page.

Other than that, I know there are some specific backup apps to backup your Web bookmarks, APNs, SMS, Call Logs - I have tried BookmarkSB, APN Backup & Restore, SMS Backup & Restore and Call Logs Backup & Restore. You can find these apps on the Android Market.

For phone contacts and calendar, you can sync them with your Google account. Go to Settings / Accounts and Sync on your phone to add your Google account and enable sync. Try it, it's fairly easy..

If batt tech stays the same, it's likely that a phone with the the Orion processor would last only half a day.. tongue.gif

Yes, using it now.

Yes, it is good. Generally everything on the phone is smoother. Roots my phone easily too.

but why galaxy? does it carry any significant meaning to Samsung??
*
There was a previous Galaxy model (maybe more than 1 model) by Samsung. So this is the 'Super' of the Galaxy product line, maybe.

guys,if i m on JG4 now..and i have got OCLF on my phone,now i wan to install voodoo,wat shud i do 1st??
*
I'm on JH2 now, with OCLF enabled. I've read here and there and it looks like we'd need to disable OCLF first (i.e. move back data from the ext2 virtual partition to the original RFS partition). I've tried to do this, but it's failing because I have too much stuff in the ext2 and not enough free space in the RFS partition.

Oh well, I'll wait for a stable Froyo release and stay with my current f/ware for now.

When Froyo is officially released for the SGS, you would still refuse to flash up? Because you already have too many apps?

Someone DID reply a few posts after yours - http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=36319359 .

My answer to you is that the Samsung Galaxy S is a great phone. Can't comment on the Wave as I don't own it.

those firmwares from samfirmware in rar file has password protected?
*
The password is clearly stated on the samfirmware site - http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-i9000.htm

Either 'samsung-firmwares.com' for older firmwares or 'samfirmware.com' for the newer releases.

hey guys seeing the htc desire hd start up so fast why cant the galaxy s do it? doesnt it have a 45nm cpu also and 1ghz? or because dont have the android 2.2? can some one explain?
*
What do you mean by 'start up so fast'? Bootup time?

I dunno how quick the Desire HD boots, but my SGS is pretty quick, I think. Way better than shit slow Blackberry (my previous phone, Curve 8900).

Thanks for the advice.

Looks like I cannot buy any paid applications unless I root my phone.

Will do some research on how to root and unroot the SGS to prevent warranty void.
*
Don't worry about losing warranty. Flash back to SEA firmware e.g. JG4 and the root and market enabler both go away.

my battery issue is even worse.
if I charge my phone up to 100%. just leave it for sleep. the battery full drain off in 8-9 hours.
wifi is off, screen brightness to lowest, no sync, no gps, no data and all of the wall paper has been set to pitch black.
what's wrong?
I suspect the voodoo lagfix has to do with this. and I've tried to disable that but the problem is still here.
*
I have voodoo lagfix (Voodoo lagfix-only 3.0 Update.zip) running on my I9000UGJH2 firmware (rooted). Been having this for almost a week now. I am not experiencing any major drains. Let me take today as an example:

1. Pulled the phone off the charger at 8:30am (fully charged).
2. Gmail and Gtalk are always on
3. Tweetdeck beta checks for facebook and twitter updates every hour
4. Built in email app checks my corporate IMAP4 email account every 30 mins
5. Screen brightness at 15%, no GPS, 3G/HSDPA always on, static wallpaper, wifi off
6. Played Angry Birds for about 15 mins, no calls made or received, 3 SMS received, 1 replied
7. Used the phone to read email and SMS and facebook/twitter updates for about 15 mins in total

Currently, my batt is down to 78%. Not too bad, considering that it's been 6 hours since the phone left the charger.

that's weird.
hmmm... i'm wondering whether the battery is defected.
the battery never last more than a day since i bought it 2 weeks ago.
*
Well, with my current usage, my SGS can barely make it through the day too. No big issue, I am usually one to charge my devices every night anyway.

after all 4 versions of the threads been read.......still dont know to root or not. but really its laggy.......running on DXJG4

btw....if im interested to install the voodoo lagfix, does my current firmware able to use with it......
*
Rooting is easy for the SGS, but if you don't want to do it, the only way I know to fix lagginess is to install the voodoo lagfix (doesn't need root).

Yes, voodoo will work for any 2.1 firmware, afaik.
