QUOTE(Jason @ Sep 19 2010, 12:47 AM) ok i've been doing testing today...and i have a real problem. the moment i activate GPS (Papago X5) and i EXIT the application.. thereafter my galaxy will NOT sleep. Hey man. I've been facing the same problem. Highlighted this since V3 thread... What I did? Just restart the phone and papago will no longer in the background...here's what happened 1. used papago x5.. reach destination 2. exit papago x5 (using the EXIT button in the application) 3. went lepak, makan, notice battery weak, thought it was the GPS usage 4. charge the phone up to 95%, go home 5. journey home took an hour, battery drop to 81% (NO USAGE) 6. enter battery info menu (*#*#4636#*#*) and notice Since last unplugged, Running (100%) 1hr 2m 55s, go to Settings -> About -> Battery Use > 1h 3m 12s since unplugged.. means since the moment i unplugged the phone till i got home, it never SLEPT. nothing else was used, no games, no apps, NOTHING. my phone has OCLF installed, and its rooted. help. can anybody replicate this problem? No solid solution yet. If you have, please share... |

QUOTE(Jason @ Sep 19 2010, 01:48 AM) i removed OCLF (kept root though) and installed voodoo beta4 I don't think it is OCLF or Voodoo. Previously I was on OCLF, after that change to Voodoo beta4. Papago still drains battery in the background even after you exit it. I think it is Papago software problem.. Anyhow, my papago is a trial version, full version i am not sure..in benchmark..OCLF hit 2.2k.. voodoo hit 1.7k only but in actual use, no difference.. both smooth.. voodoo also has the color fix.. Added on September 19, 2010, 12:49 am im wondering did we get a lemon? if yes we should get it warranty replaced. can some bro/sis help replicate this problem??? did you use OCLF? i am suspecting OCLF might be the cause. now i just installed voodoo beta4 and will try to replicate |

QUOTE(Jason @ Sep 19 2010, 02:33 AM) brother.. let me guess. your screen brightness is set to MANUAL! correct? Actually I set to auto-brightness. I read the posting but not sure whether that is the case with this Papago.thats a theory i got from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/in...p/t-682923.html my screen brightness is set to MANUAL as well..will be doing more testing. The problem I found is as follows: You can check whether you are facing the same type of problem as I am facing. 1. I start Papago and run for a few minutes, let say 5 min. 2. I exit properly. 3. Half hour later I check battery usage using battery history (or spare parts or the codes you given). 4. Papago GPS use is 4m 50s, CPU use is 5m 20s, sensor use is 30m 20s. 5. I try run compass, drop game, camera, and every other apps that use sensor. 6. Another 15min pass, check battery history again, Papago GPS use 4m 50s, CPU use 5m 20s, sensor use 46m 35s. 7. Sensor battery use also got records of the compass, drop game, camera, etc. but they don't show increase after I stop those apps. It appears that Papago activated a sensor and this sensor never shut down, lurking in the background draining battery all the time. I even tried flight mode, but the Papago sensor still active. Not sure how to proceed from here. So I just restart the phone and the problem goes away... Hope you have better luck in catching this bug.. |

QUOTE(benny888 @ Sep 19 2010, 04:43 PM) No I didn't do that,Ā but I don't think that was the problem. After I flash WXJM8 , I updated it with Voodo lag fix - must say is impressive. Then flash to test another Froyo XXJP3 , it too was successful. Lastly decided to flash back to WXJM8 - then my phone hang ! That maybe the problem. You need to disable Voodoo before flashing new FW. I read somewhere in the forum-xda or Voodoo website regarding this. Otherwise u ll get a black screen..Here is the link: http://project-voodoo.org/documentation This post has been edited by lch78: Sep 19 2010, 03:54 PM |

What will happens to too much apps installed on my SGS?
I got 7 pages of apps, totalling 7x16 = 112. Going on to the 8th page, barely one month of usage.. |

QUOTE(benny888 @ Sep 22 2010, 08:39 AM) Froyo delayed, latest update and quote from : http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/21/samsung...r-late-october/ That is too bad.... But I'm still happy with JG4 on Voodoo Fix now...Samsung's indicated in the past that all versions of its ubiquitous Galaxy S would be getting Froyo upgrades in harmony (more or less) -- and it had also indicated that those updates would be happening in September. Well, you know how these things tend to go: plans change, bugs crop up, engineers go on vacation at inopportune times, and delays happen. On that note, Samsung Mobile's Spanish division is now saying that the Galaxy S will be getting Froyo in "late October" through the Kies desktop app, though we don't know whether EspaƱa speaks for the rest of the world -- it's entirely possible that this is a Spain-specific announcement. More on this one as we get it, but for now, we wouldn't count on many (if any) of these bad boys getting official updates in the next few days. |

QUOTE(x_sch07 @ Sep 22 2010, 12:35 PM) hi guys, im planning to buy the galaxy s...however there are few concerns of mine that i need to ask the galaxy users here. 1) Yes.(1)so far hows the user experience, is it damn worth to buy this phone for its price? (2) heard lot of pplz claim that samsung product usually dont last long, any feedback on galaxy s so far? (3) also heard that the battery could easily drain, true? p/s: apologize for these questions, they're only what I "heard" from others and just want to clarify with the users here 2) Never heard of it. 3) Yes. Coz there is just too many things to play and explore on the phone that makes the power drains so fast. |

I think we should all send an email to Samsung listing down our usage experience on current SGS and expectations of SGS updates. Then we post the email here for sharing.....
These feedbacks will empower them to work on the shortcomings of the phone. They will then realize what they are lacking and turn their focus on this region demands... I am sure Europe and US are making alot of noise to them already... No point whining here. |
