Last dinner I had cost about RM2,000++. 10 person - normal seafood dishes consisting of sharkfin, crabs, prawns, steam fish and vegetables.

Well to me oh chien in Sungai Petani is more delicious than penang one , Sungai Petani oh chien auntie has a special ingredient i saw she put (green color stuff) and the oh chien will become very crunchy , besides that the oh she gives big too penang eh small

That assam laksa at Ayer Hitam market degraded liao. Not as nice as decade ago. I can find even better than Ayer hitam laksa in Puchong, Selangor (Inside Puteri Mart van seller haha- also originally from Penang and just migrated to Puchong last year haha together wth the whole van!)

the person who recommends air hitam laksa is probably a failed penangite anyway. and those who listens are those who never do their homework too

Are stalls in New Lane worth going to?
I suppose so for the tourist with limited time but to me they are expensive.
Most food there ok.  Normal drink expensive better buy Can drinks.

We're going to Penang for 1st time nxt month but can only stay for 2 days, then continue to Sabah.

We'll be staying at Hotel Penaga, jalan Hutton.

I have been researching hawker food as I know Penang is famous for this.

So this is our list:

Hokkien Mee (Prawn noodle) -> a street stall in Air Itam, corner of Jalan Air Itam and Jalan Kampung Melayu. Or should I go somewhere else ? I love Penang Hokkien Mee (Har Mee) and so happy that I'll get to taste the real Penang Har Mee soon ;-) <---never try before

Char Kway Teow -> Ah Leng, Corner of Jalan Dato Kramat and Dunlop Rd. <----good, love it

Penang Laksa -> Taman Emas Kopitiam, opposite Penang Chinese Girl School.

Nasi Kandar -> Line Clear, in Penang Road. BTW do they really open 24 hours ?

Curry Mee -> Tua Pui, in Pengkalan Weld (across from Clan Jetty) <----just to tell you, it's located beside a busy road, and some people might complain about hygiene due to it. you can go early at around 9am++ to avoid that, or if you don't mind, you can go around 3pm and eat the "ai yu bing" beside the stall. Then maybe can go and buy fried banana and potato and others opposite tua bui

BBQ chickenwings & Seafood -> Song River, pesiaran Gurney, at night (but from what time?). <----never like song river. If you want seafood in grill , maybe can try the East Coast BBQ at Sungai Pinang food court THIS

I read about Chee Cheong Fun and wanton mee... but where should I go for these as I found so many recommended (different) stalls ? <----for chee cheong fun i personally find that Seow Fong Lye Cofee Shop Chee Cheong Fun is good

Quite right it is ok but on a world wide web, the very least they should recommend one of the best Penang have to offer.
And Penang have so many spots with very good ice kacang.
