it say can @@
but sound like need to assign new number @@
*
Yeap, will need a new number for sure. Cause the current one will be terminated by TM and Maxis will come in with a new line.

Btw, not many people are aware that this is a LIMITED TIME PROMO only. This attractive package of RM118/month will not be forever. Stated also on the official Maxis website:

http://www.maxis.com.my/home/plans_fibre_10mb.asp

Those who are really interested, adviced to sign up ASAP before the offer is up. Once the awareness and momentum is there, this offer will come to an end.

QUOTE(DJFoo000 @ May 20 2012, 04:36 PM)
Are you saying the RM118/month price will return to RM200+ after the 'promo' period? Like, if I subscribe now, May and June pay RM118......, then promo end, then I have to pay RM200+ per month (original rate)?

From what I understand, the 'promo' refers to installation fee waiver, and after June 30th new subscribers need to pay installation fee? Meaning the RM118 is to stay.

Please clarify.
*
You are correct, it will be RM118/month for the entire contract period (24 months). The limited time refers to the availability of the package. It might not be able for subscription in the near future and maybe the normal packages such as the 4Mbps for RM128/month will be offered again to new customers.

Besides the installation fee waiver, the phone line deposit rental of RM75 (for Malaysian) and RM300 (for non-Malaysian) is also waived till 30th June 2012.

Hope that answers your question.

Yes, spot on!! Those who sign up now will enjoy the rate of RM118/month for their entire contract period.

To your second question, the 'Home Wireless Internet' is for Wireless internet and not through fibre optic line. It is an entirely different product and not the same as the RM118/month for 10Mbps.

The product info for that can be found here:
http://www.maxis.com.my/home/plans_wireless.asp

oh yeah that was good, just pay rm118 per month for 2year
totally awesome
furthermore, my home number 1st 4 digi is 6273, if use maxis fibre internet, what are the 1st digit ??
6730 and 6731 ?? that was weird, lol
*
For this, I will not be able to answer you...LOL
When they call up for confirm the installation date, you should be able to know your fixed line phone number already. Most are pre-assign, so you won't really be able to choose.

Home phone number doesn't really matter to me though since I rarely receive calls on it.... ><"
Use it to make outgoing calls only

Yes, you need a phone line to install Maxis Fibre Home.... :-)

Or rather, that fibre cable that they pull into your house will be your phone line

Coverage of mobile network is always subject to best efforts, but for fixed line, it is very much better and stable. Same goes to other telco mobile operators, I guess.

Phone line not necessary right? I live in link house and they just pull the fiber into my house.
I cancel my previous phone line.

For condo not sure about the installation.
*
Yeap, you are right, just have to pull fibre cable. For the benefit of others who have very basic understanding of IT, my 'phone line' above refers to the a physical line, as some customers are confused if it is a fixed line internet or a wireless internet.

For condo, they will use existing phone line and won't pull fibre cable into your unit. VDSL into the riser only.

It is for the whole contract period of 24 months! No catch, won't be increased suddenly or just for a few months only.

should we tm user wait for tm to come out a deal to counter maxis or sign up hastily for this maxis promotion? we are scare there is some sales tactic going on and just when we sign up, tm launch a better deal.
*
That's a very interesting thought....to wait or to jump in?

Just like when people saw interesting real estate deals in Klang Valley 3 years back, in 2009. Question was always, "Should I jump in now, or will it come down? Is the market overheated? Oversupply? Should I wait a little longer till it comes down again for a better deal"

Prices of houses in Klang Valley have gone up tremendously ever since and now houses are more expensive. So, still continue on waiting for a price drop/market crash?

what is the disadvantages of vdsl?

this maxis promotion is really tempting
*
Well, I wouldn't really say disadvantage as per say. For high rise residential, it will be VDSL and it means, no hacking or drilling!! :-) Max speed is theoretically up to 52Mbps only, unlike fibre which can go more than that.

2. Is it difficult to request maxis to give us a public IP address instead of private IP?
*
It is easy actually, and at no extra cost. Just call 123 to request and they will process it within a few working days.

QUOTE(Isky @ May 22 2012, 01:42 PM)
1. Not sure when the RM118 price promotion expires, but the RM200 installation fee is waived until 30/06, according to the Maxis website. Though it is true that promotion began around 18/5.
2. Interesting, if true.  A 1 month promotion period to raise 10k subscribers sounds plausible, but not very ambitious. Which suggests that the RM118 price is truly a promotional price, and not a reflection of a true market price reduction of broadband services...unless of course UNIFI responds in kind.
3. If point #2 is true, then #3 seems a distinct possibility. If true market price for 10MB is still RM218, RM118 is a loss-leader pricing strategy, and the only way to minimize losses is to reduce bandwidth costs through quotas and throttling.
4. Peak and non-peak throttling is not unreasonable. I think Malaysians have come to expect a certain amount of throttling to ensure a good online experience for everyone. The only thing we are asking for are reasonable and competitive fees, not-too-extreme throttling, stable connections, prompt and knowledgeable customer services, and minimal /fair or no quota restrictions. I guess all this is still too much to ask.

----

I was at Menara Maxis for Maxis FTTH fact finding, and I certainly wasn't told all this. The guy was either BSing or he provided a bit more information that he should. If this info is beyond what was in the standard marketing brief, then I doubt I doubt anyone, DrPritchard included, will be able to verify one way or the other.
*
Really love the way you put your argument and facts together....very good points though....

Hmppphh...is it true? We shall wait and see.... :-)
