hmmm i've been thinking.

we all know that SC requires critical thinking, nerves of steel to make split second decisions, clear mind, focused thoughts.

but would it help enhance my strategic views during game play if i read books on strategies(other than star craft strategy books) like Sun Zi's art of war?

here's the Sause

it covers a whole bunch of things like psychologicly attacking the opponent and many more.

Sun Tzu's Art of War:
1. Laying Plans
2. Waging War
3. Attack by Stratagem
4. Tactical Dispositions
5. Energy
6. Weak Points and Strong
7. Maneuvering
8. Variation in Tactics
9. The Army on the March
10. Terrain
11. The Nine Situations
12. The Attack by Fire
13. The Use of Spies

just asking. don't bash me pls!

Those books are some sort of -in-depth war/mental strategy guides which dive even deeper compared to SC2.

In virtual games there's no army morale, or the need for sense of belongings. If you are interested in those books then read it, it might even help you in dealing with real life issues.

SC2 is just a game, but everything is just like real war where real time experiences are invaluable. Do don't just "talk about war strategy on paper" =D

Well, one thing for sure is that by reading that book. You will be awesome in Total War games, not Starcraft. nod.gif

when someone can earn over 200k USD/year from a game, you will understand why it is being taken so seriously.

I was referring to TS and btw did pro gamers read thsoe kind of books? I dont think so. They just practice practice practice and practice without reading books that have lil to nothing to do with gaming.

what you said:

>its a game
doesnt matter if its pro gamers or not, people are having this as a national sport, on tv broadcast, and most importantly, earning money from it. is it just a game despite all that?

people want to get better, they can go by any means, including, but not limited to reading sun tzu books, which could probably improve his mind on the art of war. starcraft is about having your shit kill your opponents shit, which is your typical thing in war, how is "the art of war" nothing to do with it?
