Problem Encountered : proximity sensor

suppose when u put ur hp near ur face the screen will turn black and when it gets away it shud reappear back...but mine didnt appear back...jus remain black screen until i press the sleep/wake button. then after a click lock sound , then press another time the sleep/wake button then only the screen reappears. it happens when i upgraded from 3.13 to 4.01. help! is it software or my hardware malfunction???

Steps Taken So Far : didnt do anythin bout it. still has warranty but the place whr i stay is far from the digi centre in kch.

plz help sifu..i know tis is a rare prob n im sure its a headache for u guys...i jus hope its not hardware prob coz my prob seems to be same wif the iphone 4 whr the proximity sensor is a big issue.
