You can try visit http://www.lotro.com/ to register for an account and download the game.

I'll recommend Elendilmir server for M'sian players, it is the unofficial Oceanic server. Here we have most Aussies, Kiwis, Singaporeans, Indonesians, Japanese, and some other Asian players.
US players are plenty, so if you have way too much free time you can find groups 24/7, but please don't wink.gif
Elendilmir is probably the most community friendly server. We rarely see dramas in GLFF (Global Looking For Fellowship chat channel).

The kinship I'm in is EDMW, and it is mainly SG and some M'sians. You can try Aussie kins but they sleep earlier than us.

There shouldn't be any restrictions, unless you're in China.
I made one extra free account not too long ago just fine.
Was there any warning?
http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?357...!-(Updated)

It's good, but how fun is subjective. Quite good visual representation of Middle-earth if you like Tolkien. Not too many annoying bugs.

Tips:
- Join Elendilmir server.
- Join GLFF chat channel. Type"/joinchannel GLFF". Type "/1" to chat.
- Make a new chat tab just for GLFF. Their chat filter is "User Chat 1". The chat tools are in the right-click menu on the chat tab.
- Don't worry too much about gears early in the game. Just get gears with stats that suit your class.
- Roll class that suits your play style and happy with.
- Complete deeds to earn free Turbine Points (TP). http://www.lotrolife.com/guide/free-lotro-...em-easily/1546/

Standard client is 14.3G installed on my comp. It started out in 1 DVD disc, current retail copy comes with 3 DVDs.
If your PC have the beef and DX10/11, get the HighRes client. You won't regret the beauty of it.

For those who can't seems to register, try:
Check your e-mail for any confirmation mail, I'm not sure there is one but just in case.
Delete your temporary internet files.
Just as others have suggested, instead of IE, use other browsers such as Chrome or Firefox.

You can see the comparisons between VIP, Premium and Free here: http://www.lotro.com/free.php?

4.Subscribe for one month. While this may not seem logical for a F2P player, it has tones of advantages. First, you get 500TP back. After that, you will have all your traits, bags, virtues unlocked. Also, you can learn the riding skill for free, no need to spend TP on that either. Go to every zone in Eregion and kill at least one mob that gives a new deed. After the VIP ends, you can still finish those deeds and get lots of TP for them. On your own time. VIP also removes the gold gap. You will save about 3000 TP on each character this way, so get it when you have a few alts. After VIP ends, you will keep these advantages. - Sui Generis
QUOTE(http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?353050-VIP-for-at-least-one-month)
I just started playing LOTRO when the F2P Beta started. I was always interested in LOTRO, but have been staying away from MMOs after I broke free from WoW  a few years ago. I've really enjoyed LOTRO in the beta (epic storyline!) and talked a few friends into playing when F2P goes live. I like to play casually and will probably level kinda slowly, so I don't want to be paying every month. I dont mind spending a little bit occasionaly, but if I'm paying every month I will feel like I should play more to get my moneys worth, and would probably get burned out.

I just bought MoM for $10, so I will be VIP for 30 days and the characters I create then will have a lot unlocked, but I was curious as to what would happen to characters I create after my VIP is over.

If my info/assumptions are correct, it would be well worth it to go VIP for a month for any new premium character, rather than build up a new character with stuff from the store.

Using VIP for one month is ~$5-$15 ($15 for a one month subscription, or ~$5 using a 60 day game card for $10).

Going VIP for one month with a new premium character will unlock all 5 bags and get you access to the riding skill (if you get to level 20 before your VIP is over). Those two alone are worth 1285 TP, ~$13 (495 for the 2 bags, 295 for the riding). Plus you unlock all trait slots and get 500 TP for being VIP for a month. The value of all that from the store seems to cost more than a "one month subscription" of $15 (or less).
The advices above are good if you intend to stay long enough. The gold limit, inventory bags, riding skill and trait slots should be permanently available to you once you unlocked it once.

Rune-keeper is light armour tactical (try say "magic class" in GLFF to irk some lore nazis lol), can either heal or dps but not both at the same time, need to be bought with TP.

There's a new but nice bug in phase 3 Draigoch, Captain's banner constantly died and will give enemy defeat response to the fellowship.
My Captain can consistently use RC, War-cry and Shadow's Lament. I think this apply to Champions as well.
I've no doubt Turbine will nerf this, but they better make sure to fix rez bug and any other lingering old bugs 1st!

I too have "quit" LotRO. Imho, the new epic and zone storyline kinda felt like month old bread.
Should chances allow, I'll still like to visit major locations mentioned in the books, but damn leveling or serpentining red mobs will be an arsehurt without buying any quest packs just to get around in the future expansions tongue.gif

Limlight Gorge elites can be soloed with Hunter, at least my Hunter in either DPS (blue) or CC (yellow) traits. I've seen Guardian soloed there. Warden surely can, and Captain probably can too.

Being a healer, just duo with a good DPSer can get the job done quick. RK may be too squishy though biggrin.gif

Not really, with enough free Turbine Points farming (grinding) and this: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1548398/+1320#, you could enjoy the game at far more extend.

As for the deadness of the game, to oldbies like me, newer expansions offered less and less contents. While Turbine claimed the contents will be delivered in chunks, such as new instances, raids and new smaller maps via updates, the contents still feel abysmally tiny.

I guess I made my point along with some other players by not buying the current RoR expansion, because I felt it's too expansive for the content offered now. Even the Epic quests came in only 3 books continuing on the lacklustered storyline from previous expansion. The first half of RoI's Epics resolved by the Rangers got their arses kicked and sent packing to Gondor with their tails between their legs.

I login was morning (US) and evening (Aussie), looking at the number of players on GLFF is pretty much the same as the end of RoI. I'm still seeing the same old GLFFers still playing.

@airwind, we all pretty much originated in Elendilmir for it being the unofficial Oceanic server for Aussies, MY, SG, Indonesia, Philippines, Japan, and a couple of lost dudes from UK.

At the moment, I'm giving myself 1 hours or so leveling my currently level 47 LM up to level 75 to waste time while waiting for other games to update or show up.

Added on November 23, 2012, 9:50 pmA good news for whoever interested in getting the latest expansion, Turbine are now having a Black Friday sales on their online store, http://store.turbine.com/.
50% off on all 3 RoR editions and one other old expansion pack.
