i think what he meant is instead of spending 95 TP on riding trait, you could do the quest to get the skill in Bree-land... in Hangstacer farm or something...

or can't you actually do that ?

but running around all the way til lvl 20 is really a pain man..

you don't actually get the riding skill free.... you have to do a quest to get it, which is applicable only to VIP member....

Yup, I heard that the quest is quite easy.

i activated vip more than 10 days but i did not receive 500 tp.. i already request 3 times from the turbine account support team.. but they never response to me..

omg.. any advice?

You just have to get around on foot till lv15, then you can activate the free mount by mail. 15-20 is just a couple hours, use the mount time wisely.

The changes now is consider very very good. I used to walk till level 35 to get a real mount last time. There's even players that couldn't afford a mount @ lvl 45.

+1 to muladdin's good starter guide.

pls allow me to elaborate more on the riding skill since some of you wish not spend the 95tp on it.

case 1. if u can lvl ur toon from 1-50 in a month as VIP (i have seen kindred did that, he actually got up to 65 in 1week playing time), u can basically save the tp for nothing but quest pack as suggested by muladdin. the riding skill can be rewarded from a quest.

case 2. if u arent as hardcore as case 1 but still a serious grinder, get VIP at lvl20. this will save u 95tp on riding but u gotta grind hard to lvl50 in a month before the VIP expires.

case 3. if u are a casual gamer like myself and muladdin which we have to work for a living & lotsa RL stuff to be done. get your VIP at lvl30 (after completed loneland). this will allow more buffer for your to explore & level slowly to 50(moria) then u r safe to turn premier afterwards. the downside of this is u will suffer from running up to lvl30, which is a real pain. so its advisable to get a 95tp riding from store.

case 4. if rm30 a month is not an issue, get subscribe at anytime or any level on your liking. tp shall be spend on tomes or any consumable, do not bother on riding skill or quest pack.

i went for the case 3 to save up tp for map so i walk around from ered luin-bree-lonleland until i was lvl30+ before turning to a VIP, slowly but steadily. enjoy the storyline, explore the map and spend sometime to get familiar with the mechanism; without grinding 24/7 like a no lifer thats the whole point of playing games isit it? to enjoy the it comfortably.

the choice is yours.

yes, i've that issues. this problem, as it states, you need to install .net framework 1.1.
i can see that you're either using win vista or win7, which is unfortunate that these 2 OS dont support net framework 1.1(not even installation)

it's a technique called slipstreaming, you slip in the .net 1.1 unbeknownst to the pc.

Haha, been playing this since it came out ! I play more PvP though, creepside, a Warleader, Rank 10. But I assume everyone here plays on the NA (American) versions of the free to play right?


This was quite sometime ago...gain some more deeds/kills by then.

I was a bit dissapointed though with the F2P system; we had to work hard for our mounting skills for the mounts and riding skill that are only available @ level 20 for 3 gold...but new free gift boxes opens up a level 5 horse free for one day! Ahhh the horrors of walking around aimlessly !

hi guys...i just bought MOM expansion...but did nt enter the map yet...

currently im lvl 57 (hunter)...and grinding virtue (valour 5, justice 4 , determination 7, tolerance 7, mercy 7)..its a pain in the ass though..im targeting to reach valour 7 and justice 7 before advancing to MOM...

i just wanna faster lvling to 65 and max my crafting, then i'll slowly focus on questing. been to moria before, dark and gloomy, and cant use my normal mount.
