Hi. I am plannin to replace all my doors and am lookin for reasonable door supplier & installer.

Also, aside from the foldable doors, is there any other type of doors I can use for bathroom? Don't really fancy those foldable types....

hey, jus wanna check hav any of you guys heard of mixed wood door (or is usin 'em)? are they ok? compared to mdf/hdf door, would mixed wood be better? or worse?

so many conflicting opinion.

so now i know there are
1) mixed wood
2) mdf/hdf
3) solid wood (out of the question, too expensive)
4) moulded door

which is the better of the above (minus 3)?

"Mixed wood" door? The common term use for "mixed wood" door mean, its solid door but the grade of the door category usually will be grade c, d, e and in some instance is grade f. The species of the wood will be from all different type of trees. Solid door not necessary expensive, it depend on the grade and type of wood species as well as the size as well as pattern and whether it come with tempered glass, that u are looking for. Those nyatoh cunteh grade A or merbatu wood naturally will be expensive, while those light solid door like meranti will be relatively cheap, in some cases some greedy hardware shop will sell you solid door make from "palet" wood which is less RM100 per door, this type of wood will only last you one year and later it will disintegrate by itself due to the lousy material. You get what you pay.

for bathroom, what type of material should we choose apart from the wood? Wooden door is not durable if the door is near to the shower area?

If your shower room is big and happen to have dry n wet area then wooden door will look nice. Otherwise, a upvc toilet door will do. There are others option, those 10mm frosted glass toilet door will look really classy. Or if you are on budget then a bi-fold toilet door or those al-cheapo pvc folding door sell by hardware shop will be enough. Extra caution when u use a bi-fold toilet door especially for children, happened before a few cases, the small children fingers get snap in the middle by the door accidentally when they like to play with the door, keep on open and close it.

yes, mixed wood door = solid wood, but of diff grading. worried that due to the lousy material, it will vry quickly crack (expand & contract at diff rate for diff wood).

think i will stick to moulded door instead.

im not sure if laminated MDF is a good choice, but u may consider. its similiar to laminated floor u hav at home/office. as long as u don't "soak" in water, its fine......

laminated mdf door will peel off by its own over the time... say about more than 5 years..... not for hdf floor board coz it produce using high density technology (dunno what they call).

i bought two. pretty good but the doors were the more expensive versions. insulated, fire proof, keys can be deleted from door. still was cheaper than good wooden door + safe grill wink.gif if you buy, make sure the finishing is good, the door handles can be replaced and if possible the locking mechanism too. good powdercoating is an added plus.

Added on October 19, 2010, 3:19 pmTry yong fong stainless steel anti burglary door. Why stainless steel?? bcos stailess steel has very high tensile that metal cannot match. Promo now with installation Rm2200/=. View the fine and good quality of the door before making any decision. contact 012 297 1697.

A policeman told me that thieves like to come in from door especially back door, cos its easily for them go away (san sui) and remove valuables from hse.

Experienced thieves will open up the front and back door to secure them. If owner comes in from back door, they go by the front door or vice versa.

Thief would not like to removing your notebook & other valuables thru ceiling or window.

I would say that if our car can be easily remove by a tow truck, no mattter what alarm system we hv. But it doesn't mean that we do not need to lock our car. A kancil will need to hv gear lock as well as steering lock despite hving the original alarm system.

Make the thieves trouble and delay their time to deter them. No 100% security but deter them from targeting us.

The diff wz normal door is its design and stainless steel material.

i bought plantinum (sic!) security doors from a seller in PJ. mechanism is very sturdy and frankly speaking i dont think average thief will be able to get through the door. it's pretty touch, lots of bolts, no access points exposed to the outside and even the locking mechanism was pretty convincing. if you compare costs vs. high end wooden door and a very good grille a security doors is the cheaper option.

Does any one know where to get service to change door from open inward to open outward? my door frame is metal frame, so need to re-weld the door hinges and also dig a side hole on the door frame.

BTW, Does any one know where to get acoustic door for sound proofing purpose?

I recently heard that wooden doors can be touched up like an uneven wall getting a skimcoat. Not sure how it is done and what materials they use. But is this really possible? Like fix a deep scratch, dent or whatever.... news to me.

One shop in SS2 quoted RM450 for merpauh solid wood the design with 8 rectangles painted white, inclusive of installation and simple door knob. The area within the rectangles are thinner la. If you want all same thickness, then have to pay about RM600+.

They also selling some sort of "plaster chemical" door that is waterproof for use in wet kitchen, etc. This one is RM590 inc installation. Still thinking whether I should install this for my wet kitchen door to the outside world.
