is it laggy?

Very very smooth.I used the same OC profile I used in Maemo(500-850MHz).I'm using Toshiba Class 4 4GB MicroSD only but the performance is very impressive.
Anyway v0.0.8 will automatically OC NITDroid to 700Mhz.Whether you want extra "umph",it's your choice.

The whole system visual effect working really great.I can see why people likes Android.Though comparing the OS power Maemo wins hands down.

i am tempted to try i already have a spare memory card class 2 2GB taken from my E71 last time. Does it mess up anything in between maemo?
*
Well..For start you need to stop using OC with letho's method & use titans kernel instead.
About messing Maemo, there are some rare case that needs full reflash. But the new auto installer made installation easier & reduce the chances of messing the whole system.

I think what you need to use NITDroid is just some bravery.Just install the necessary files. If there's some problem it can be solved with other users help.

why want to install in emmc. i cant find the reason. unless u dowan to use ur n900 as ur phone. once u install nitdroid to emmc, ur maemo is gone.

Added on September 10, 2010, 4:34 pmi oced my nitdroid 0.0.8 to 900mhz. it is working good.
*
The goal of NITDroid has always been to used alongside Maemo. Not to replace it.
Most probably by installing NITDroid in eMMC means making a special partition & dual boot with Maemo.

Now that NITDroid installation is over time for me to mess around with fcamera.

QUOTE(Andy214 @ Sep 10 2010, 08:42 PM)

True, why want to replace? Better get a real Android device, which by now has far better specs than N900.

For me, I'd take Maemo anytime, although there is still a lot need to be done and polished, but the experience, the Desktop, the customization, etc was simply too great to resist, it's not like the ordinary smartphone OS. If only N900 comes with more ram instead of virtual memory and more processing power...
*
If only N900 have 512MB RAM we can pwn any android phone anytime.Overclocked ARM Cortex A8 really can keep up with all the latest apps.Only thing is lack of RAM cannot be compensated. We don't notice this much in Maemo though.

So far my NITDroid experience been fun.I just hope the team will continue to enhance lots more functions once all the basic functions covered.

I've having some trouble with fcamera because of my heavily modified kernel. tongue.gif
I should be able to fix everything & get the apps up & running by tonight.
Anyway, how do you save the pictures of fcamera in jpeg files?

QUOTE(Patent @ Sep 10 2010, 09:00 PM)
yeah, hoping for that as partitioning the n900 seems possible...

but the risk of bricking is high.  cry.gif
*
Software brick always possible. This can be fixed with reflash.
Hardware brick with NITDroid,I don't think it's possible.
Again we should revisit how many hardware wise bricked N900 here.Almost none(you guys should know the single case by now)
Even in Maemo Talk forum there are very few cases.

Those supposed N9 (or whatever) specs look legit enough, and it matches much of the info I've been collecting so far. Except for that screen reso, which will be killer - as in "are you serious Nokia?" killer.

And yes Nokia, the OMAP fanboy in me thanks you for not straying into the dark path of the Snapdragon.

But really, dual-core or no dual-core, this thing is bound for christmas, and by then it should be an acceptably competitive device in my book - for Nokia standards anyway.

As long as Meego doesn't flop. Which I really hope it won't because for some unknown reason I just can't make myself love Android, yet.
Oh well, Nokia World is just a couple of more days away anyhow. Come on Nokia, surprise me and make me fall in love with you all over again.
*
Another OMAP fanboy brows.gif
Whether it's flop or not we'll know next month.(Because MeeGo is scheduled to be released next month.

For some reason your titans kernel don't seem to be loading.
Did you tried t install NITDroid?Because installing NITDroid could cause this problem.

Both of them 2 thing.

QUOTE(Shelby @ Sep 11 2010, 04:18 PM)
I don't know whethert this is the right place.. just try my luck~~

I have the ringtone problem with the N900 when you select a mp3 out of your own albums in the profilemenu it sounds clear, but when you get a incoming call, it sounds strange, a clipping sound.
and how higher the ringtonevolume in the profilemenu, the lower the clipping sound is, but is not completly gone.

Tis problem is also with the standard ringtones/alarmtones but you have to listen very carefully, the reason why you almost don't hear it with the standaard tones is because they lack of bass and beat.

But the problem is also with the standard tones.

Are there more people with this problem and somebody a solution for this problem?

and does this mean that the N900 can't even play a normal mp3 song as a ringtone without Clipping/distortion?

Anyone could help?? Pls pm me!! THX!
*
Mine don't have such problem. If you had this problem since you bought the phone maybe you should have changed the phone right away.Even if it's AP set.
Mine is AP set but mine don't have such problem.Although my phone is good candidate to be bricked.

QUOTE(hengguowei @ Sep 11 2010, 05:19 PM)
Hmph...what can N900 help in your work? hmm.gif

Added on September 11, 2010, 5:21 pmso which NCC is good? And what bible software is available for Symbian 1 devices please smile.gif
*
Ok this I can answer.Just last month my desktop pc died.So I had to wait 2 days before my parents bring my laptop from home. And the worse thing was I had 3 assignment due in that week.
With N900 can open all my assignment questions & notes because N900 can open Word/Excel/PowerPoint.I managed yo YM my friends that my assignment answer could be done late because of my desktop under repair.
You can email others easily, connect to wifi(with whatever encryption) & watch uncompressed video files.
Somehow my phone managed to keep me from died from boredom helped me to finished my job.

@hose who have tried kroll. It supports keypad keys right??? N.O.V.A works perfect on NITDroid except for the controls, cos it only supports the  multitouch onscreen joystick.

unfortunately android doesn't have a good dev compared to maemo as small as it is, so i couldn't find a keyboard support app, neither could i find an app for modifying the led blink colours for notifications. Even if Nitdroid becomes 100% operational, i think i still prefer maemo. pretty UI's are nice to look at, but if you really utilize a lot of the n900's abilities like me, you'll find a lot of things you take for granted in maemo, missing in android.

Android don't even have proper button to close apps doh.gif

Does installing FCAM or HDR app have any issues if I am using kernel power for overclocking?

NokiaWorld starts tomorrow people, let's see if the future is brighter then now, or Nokia plans to sink ship lol.
*
Like you I always have faith in Nokia.Even though sometimes they produce "questionable" product like N97 or X6,they did deliver some of the great stuff like N900,N95 & even 3310.
By now they should have done enough experiment with Maemo & with Intel's backup they should be able produce a good smartphone to beat iPhone & iOS.

QUOTE(Eiraku @ Sep 13 2010, 05:18 AM)
Lol, I can treat you hor fun anytime (in KL lar) if you can get me a few loooong hours with the N8.

I'm really curious to see if the future Nokia mass market ship saver has a chance against its quickly evolving rivals. Unlike Eldar Murtazin (the now famous Mobile-Review guy) though, I'm quite positive about the future of Symbian as I have a soft spot for Nokie and Symbian and (actually) really want them to succeed.

What to do, when I was younger I always wanted Psions - and now Symbian is all that's left (Symbian is the direct descendant of the EPOC OS that ran on the Psions - quick trivia for those who even know what I'm talking about lol).

So, any chance with that hor fun offer Aspire?
*
If you can come to Melaka I can let you play with mine for long time whistling.gif

I've said this before, yes symbian is not exactly a smartphone OS but it can perform well & most of the time will get the job done.

Added on September 13, 2010, 9:28 amBTW,are you guys planning to envy other phone users to death by showing off fcam?

Those who tweet/facebook/blog or use whatever other method usually tell what device they are using right now.
1 participant said he prefers N900 because N900 can do everything. But he had to bring extra batteries.
