Aside from Pokemon, DS/3DS platform does offer much RPG games if compared with PSP games library. just to name a few: Dragon Quest, Phoenix Wright, Legend of Zelda, Mario, Etrian Odyssey, etc etc.

In short, if you favor at least one of the title above, then 3DS would be the more appealing.

Yes you can. But you must set your wi-fi security to WEP or None. DS game doesn't support WPA or WPA2.
