anybody know how to reset proton persona car CD player... mine sometimes get jammed... cannot off even after i off my car and take out keys... any sifu know the problem?

EDIT : Proton Persona SE
*
Experienced this twice already. First time, I disconnected the " - " battery cable & triggered the alarm which blasted into my ears. Of course I connected the cable quickly & everything was OK except that I had to adjust the clock a minute or so. There was a CD in the player which I think was running all the time because it's warm. I did not let the problem continue for long before I took action. Wondered what would happen if I let it prolonged the whole night. Maybe the player might have just burned away. In fact, before I disconnected the cable, I tried pulling out the radio/player fuse but it was still ON.

Second time it happened. I lowered the volume by pressing the switch at the steering wheel to zero, then start the engine a while & then switch it off (the engine) but only turning the key down to ACCESSORIES first- again for a while before turning the key to OFF. It worked, everything is switched off.

Now I am sticking to this technique of switching-off the engine - by not switching it off so quickly. I thought the power for the radio/CD player is dependent on the ignition switch. But obviously it is not so.

Any one felt any vibration from the engine when the car is in idle (In park with handbrake on) ?
I was waiting for someone in the car with the engine off but the key at the position 'ON' , air-con blowing(not cold) then
when I start the car , I felt the some vibration from the engine for like 1-2min hmm.gif  is that normal or my sensitiveness ? tongue.gif

You should not switch on the A/con when the engine is not running. Battery will drain out fast. Just don't do that !

Way to go. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to think of that. Planned to do that all this while.

Received 2 car key..1 of the key come without battery?wtf..should go back claim for battery?duh..
*
That's quite odd. Most would have taken the simple task of testing the remote controller keys to see whether they work or not when collecting new vehicle. Don't blame others for your own mistake. Second mistake is to ask everyone here whether to go back to claim for battery. Please don't make a third.

sensor problem they said???  rclxub.gif
*
Please find out from them whether it is the "camshaft" or "crankshaft" sensor. These items don't cost much but if they are liable to fail, I would consider keeping a spare each. RM 148 & RM 134 respectively.

Take a look at them. It is your car. It is you life. Mileage & duration is not a criteria for change. physicak condition is.

Folks,

How much is the original absorbers for Persona?
*
The front absorber for the Hi-Line & SE models (RM 176.80 each)which has ABS, are different in specification from the Base & Medium-Line models (RM 171.90 each) The prices are quite close but I do not know the physical differences between them. The rear absorbers (RM 101.80 each) are similar for all model range. If you have the time to survey around, perhaps you may get these similar original parts at a lower price. Labour for installation & alignment checking/adjustments will set you back further $$$$$.

Be careful when you buy assets like new cars or houses! Spending beyond your legal means? Sooner or later, the long arms of LHDN will track you down.

Fellow Personarians. I have taken a look at quite a number of Personas & Gen-2s and I noticed there is a dent at the far right end corner of the bonnet/hood (the driver's side) The left side is OK. if you observe carefully, it sort of curves down at that particular area. Can you guys confirm whether this is a standard flaw?

No replacement part for door mirror signal light cover only. You have to buy the whole signal lamp (RM 104.55) Mirror glass is
RM 31.50. Cover is RM 54.70 Whole unit RM581

You never said where you are from. If you are form KL/PJ, go to the Proton parts stockists. Their prices are always cheaper for everything. Look around Jalan Ipoh & Segambut area. Plenty of big stockists there. If you can buy the car, you should be able to find the parts.

Any one have back seat squeaking noise , mine was not noticeable until u hit hard on potholes and over speedbumps .
thats when u can hear yek yek , at first i thought was the read suspension but today tried folding down both rear seats and
drive , and no sound came out so its the seat i presume .. so here's a simple DIY on the rear seat hook for those who has the problem icon_rolleyes.gif  smile.gif

user posted image

All U need is a thick foam tape , cutter , and a normal tape .

user posted image

See the arrow pointing towards the scratched line , there is where the lock will hit the hook .. so foam tapes must in between it  blush.gif

user posted image

First -use the thick foam type , just one layer is enough (do not overlap or it will be too thick) ,
another thin layer of the tape(this can do 2 turns around the hook) is to secure the
foam tape to become lose .
Second - Slam the seat a few times , see that does the seat secure when u lock it . maybe the tape is too thick or too thin ..
Third - test drive too see got sound o not  biggrin.gif
*
Knew about this technique from the earlier threads here so I was aware of the problem even before I got the car. I used wiring tape on the seat lock strikers right after I got the car. Cannot be too thick or else you cannot slam shut the lock. The noise problem emanating from this area of the rear seat can be very loud if not rectified this way. Model without foldable rear seats are safe

hi, im interest with PE H Line. So i want to know about FC. It's good or bad? And i google about SURBO and I Charge, it's suitable for PE H Line? smile.gif
*
Fuel consumption of all the Personas is a very subjective matter. I hope this matter( for the sake of all existing Personarians in this thread) should be put to rest & no further questions entertained. Lets put it this way, the Persona's FC befits its technology & price. Remember. It is a 1.6 lit. car & is sturdily built. There is no way, with it's primitive engine, can better the FC of the VVT-i , i-VTEC & the DVVT of the Toyotas, Hondas & Peroduas respectively.

*
For the sake of all members of this thread, please do not waste the space here asking silly questions. Matters of personal preferences e.g when to buy, what colour to buy should not be entertained. Some of the questions asked in this thread should be answered by car salesmen or service personnel, friends or relatives(unless you don't know or have any). Please stick to technical related topics such as mods, new probs, accessories etc. As for newbies, don't be so lazy. Read about the Persona from Version 1 onwards. That's what I did. There are simply too many repeated questions regarding similar petty matters.

Don't know if anyone posted this before but I'll just slap it here.

I found a weird bug or malfunction with the radio. It has happened to me 3 times so far but I dunno about other owners. Don't have anyone else I know who owns a Persona. The radio somewhat hangs. Yes, just like a Windows computer, it hangs. The entire LED radio board freezes and there's nothing I can do. Pressing the power button doesn't turn it off. Stopping my engine doesn't turn it off. Activating my alarm doesn't turn it off either. I've tried all the button combinations like holding the power button and pressing up up down down left right left right. And you know lah, Persona radio cannot detach punya.

So far, out of 3 times it happened, I found 2 possible ways to 'restart' the radio. The most straight-forward way is to unplug the battery and replug it back. But they could be rather messey and the alarm with go off. Plus, it would be hell if you don't happen to have a tool box.

The next method is simpler. Just hold down the power button, and switch off the engine. At this point, the radio LED will still be lit (as when it hangs). Keep holding the power button. Now, start the car engine. The radio should shut down and restart.
*
Twice happened to me already. 1st. time, I removed the battery cable. Messy job indeed & bad for the ears. 2nd. time, I just start-up the car & then switch-off the ignition by turning the ignition key gradually/slowly (step-by-step) & radio is off. Actually, you don't need to press the ON/OFF button of the player at all. Starting the ignition, radio-ON. Switching-off the ignition-radio-OFF. Removing the fuse will not solve the problem. I believe it is not a defect of the radio/cd player. Just a right technique in switching-off the engine is required. Don't do it too fast. Should be OK. At least, to me.

Yeah my aircon compressors kicks in very hard.. And it frequently turns on and off causing a lot of vibration and make the engine feels like a lousy one, especially when stuck in traffic jam... Even my family 13year old Sentra B14 also dont feel that bad..
maybe will ask him to install some supercapacitors for me too.. Dunno how much thats going to cost though..
*
That reminds me now. When I got the car a year ago I wondered why it was vibrating like what you said but as time goes by my engine feels sweet & smooth as it is still now, until I totally forgot about the whole shaking feeling. Can't explain why. Maybe it is the lube I use. 10W 40 Delphi semi., changed every 5K Km. without fail.

I install 2 VS and 4 Point on my IAFM Persona M-Line. U will sure notice improvement.
As for the accident , The car going very fast, See the impact also know. 1 more thing... NO AIR BAG Protect the driver.
(Maybe drive too fast brake tak makan) ...That is why i change to others better pad...
*
I do not have a VS in my car but I have tried one before (plug-in cigarette lighter socket type on my previous old '88 carburated Nissan Sentra) Power, especially going up-hill improved with similar fuel consumption. I feel that performance of a new car with VS is hardly noticeable or marginal compared to installing in old car.
As for the tragic accident, driving B-Line without airbag at break-neck speeds is suicidal besides causing harm to others. Some body mentioned retro-fitting airbag for B-Line. Thats silly. Got to change dashboard, steering wheel, wiring system. Might as well buy M or H-Line. Proton, for its price is not comparable to imported makes which can withstand rougher rides. It is way too delicate to take harsh treatment.

Talking about accidents, a poor worker always blame his/her equipment. In this case, the driver blaming the car (especially the brakes) I have driven my previous 21 years-old old banger without any Airbag,ABS,EBD,Power steering etc.& I am still in one piece. The problem with drivers nowadays is, all this safety features & enhancements gives them a false sense of security. And they think they can fly on the road. Unless you install a roll-cage in the car, driving at high speeds & crashing is fatal even with the above mentioned safety devices. Even established makes like Toyota,Honda & Nissan has hick-ups concerning safety. I wouldn't bet my life on a Proton (even though I drive one)
