it only waste your half day if you used back gatsby product to style.. laugh.gif

it can easily be done within 5 minutes with a nice hair cut and better styling product.

wax is kinda hard to use if you wanna shape your hair...
thats why wax is prefered to be used for spiky hair...

Koreans tongue.gif

BTW hairstyles are to be based on a lot of stuff. Attitude, style(your clothing), behavior and a lot of other stuffs. You know it's pretty easy to see an attitude of a person by the way he looks.

For me I choose to match up with my overall appearance and what I'm wearing that day. Depends biggrin.gif

I don't think they're Koreans ... I can tell Koreans, I can't tell Chinese/Japanese apart.
Anyway I just googled Asian guy hairstyles and picked the ones I was talking about.

I really don't like the lala japanese-wannabe-failure looks.

the 2nd is definately a korean. the first im not sure, looks canto to me. Yeah, koreans have the most distinct look ever. 8 out of 10 korean guys that i know has no double eyelid with black plastic framed prescription glasses and moderately styled spikey top hair (but a lot of them has this childish bowl/mushroom cut as well) lol.

abt the chines/jap part.

depends where that chinese come frm, if frm mainland china definately can tell as they all look like ah pek. if jap their hair owez long and shaggy with messy spikes (and they pluck their eyebrow too nod.gif ). what i cant tell is the diff between hker, vietnamese, taiwanese.

Cool earrings!

Well, I like the slumber look. But long hair's a no, working in a professional accounting firm, so i went for the mohawk cut. Kinda like this.

However, I guess the mohawk look didn't originate from Asia, so its kinda off topix :<

hey guys i would like to know...

you know robin van persia? the arsenal footballer?

his latest hair style is pretty cool, what is the name of that haircut? i don't have the pic sorry... is short, a bit like triangle shape when you look at him from the front of his face

but you can see it in the last night game against bolton

let me know if by any chance some of you know what that haircut call, thanks

Yeah, a kinda short mohawk like that guy in the pic. Mine's getting longer by the week, so I stopped styling it. Coz i'd look like 4 to 5 inches taller. But i'm an intern so i guess its alright. Besides, i'm always out auditing at client's place ~_~ no worries biggrin.gif

Must see what kind of wax u use la..if u use the Pink 1 sure wet la..it looks like gel..can make ur hair very hard..and the shine rate was the highest..no doubt ur hair so shiny la..if use like air rise looks dry coz the shine rate is low..and it's type is like creamy not gelly..

Must see the hair type also...hair dat is oily then sure wet 1..

Cool earrings!

Well, I like the slumber look. But long hair's a no, working in a professional accounting firm, so i went for the mohawk cut. Kinda like this.

However, I guess the mohawk look didn't originate from Asia, so its kinda off topix :<

hey man. nice length u got there... just one problem... ur side bangs are too short.. do u get what i mean ? the hair that growns down just before ur ear...now i dont mean sideburns... but the hair from the top of ur head that grows down to your cheek is a bit botak... if u look at the picture of the japanese hairstyles.. they have very long side bangs that covers the ears.. so if u wanna achieve that...ud have to wait for a few more monhts to let it grow.

@ THREEPOINTsix

Thanks for pointing that out! =D

@ nuance

Yeah, its called a fauxhawk. However, its not easy to maintain. You gotta constantly keep the side hair short, else your head will be kinda weird. And this is best suited for people who have nice round heads biggrin.gif
Coz you will reveal some skin, and if your head is cheesebox like... better go for a look that sports longer hair tongue.gif

I am tall. And my hair is tall O_O not sure bout my eyes tho xD

The cornrow is real. Haha. My hair was actually like the 3rd Row 3rd from left before I did it. It's done with the help of hair extension as well. I was in Africa at that time... it was around 100 in ringgit...

Yes it is especial for africans. In fact, it's very difficult for chinese or asians to do cornrow because we normally have straight and silky hair. And with straight and silky hair, your cornrows can't last long. Probably a few weeks. That's also another reason why I had to use the hair extension. The extension gives volume to your hair (e.g. makes your cornrows look thicker) and helps to "hold" your cornrows so that the braiding won't become loose as fast as without the extension.

Unfortunately, my cornrows only last for 4 days. smile.gif

Ahem... not because of losing the cornrows, it's just that I couldn't stand not washing my hair for days! tongue.gif IT.WAS.SO.ITCHY.

My african friend told me, if we want to have thick and rough hair, we can try using washing powder (that's right, Dynamo) to wash our hair~
Don't feel shocking.gif I thought they were joking too. But true, that's how they do it. nod.gif

I went to Africa because of my work.

Try beckham style....like maxlaw's 1st row 4th pic.
It makes your face looks longer. Not so round.

I know it, becoz i'm one of your kind.

Hey, maxlaw, you colored your hair when you were having short hair right?

you color it at saloon or by yourself? i always wanted to color, but my hair is short and saloon offer me rm60, i think it's overbudget for me, and short hair, we cut it seldomly, and the color does not last long also..

I coloured my hair at saloon, and I coloured when it's still short. If your hair is growing very fast, you'll need to do colouring quite frequently in order to "maintain" the colour.

Depending on the saloons and the colouring products being used, RM60 can be reasonable sometimes.

I think the saloon that did my hair used L'Oreal. I'm not quite sure about the details of the products, but my hair colour seems to look more vibrant with time (e.g. getting blonder and blonder). Also, they told me they have different range of colouring products. Some are gentle to the hair, and some can damage the hair (but can produce nice colours).

Bleaching + Dying will be more expensive than Dying per se.

Dude, pic a bit blur. Cant see the details. Your hair type is kinda curly with thick volume isnt it? If it is, why dont you try to shorten it a bit (something short like mawi) and to spice it up, make some design at the upper area of sideburn, one stripes or two... if its your cup of tea lah

Whenever I go to the hairstylist, they will always say that my hair is too soft and my hair at the back will "jump" if it's too short.

Any hairstyle suggestion for late 20s guy?

slash hair style ... also looks cool tho ... buy my hair str8 n soft .. so much of $$ spend to make that style ... any1 try it before ? can show ur pic ?..

long hair style .. hard to manage .. sumtime .. how to style long hair type with putting rubber or wax .. is not important .. the hair cut / hair shape depend on ur head shape is the key .. which hair style is suitable with u .. u have to find urself .. or ask the pros ...

puting wax .. or rubber make ur long hair feel uncomfortable .. in long term .. when u outing .. ur head skin will feel so hot .. n itchy/ rimas .. dy ..

to me la .. i just let it be ... if the "ekor" part is too long .. i just tie up my hair at back of my head .. to make more comfortable when moving/walking .. n absolutely more air flow tru ur rear neck part ... and also +50% more style ... if it suit u .. lol

One thing to point out :

Malays just don't suit all those Asian hairstyle. Face it and live with it. If you're a Malay, opt for Western hairstyle. Suits you better. Simple and Smart.

yeah, i tried few of the jap hair styles.. damn it takes half hour just to style it... i hv to iron it to make it str8 then twist n twirl with wax n spray the back hair to make it stand-up..my hair is fine n limp..gets big wavy when it become longer..
after awhile just makes me goin late to works coz spend time to style it..so i cut it short spike only now..hahaha..

what kinda hair product do u guys think he's using to get that kinda style? i've never been able to replicate that kind of style with wax, gel, whatever. i don't think its possible for a normal person to get that kinda hair without spending a couple of hours in the saloon, it looks like his hair is styled strand by strand to get that kind of effect. part of the reason why i've given up on medium-long hair entirely because i've never been able to style it properly in a hurry.
*
I think u cant get this hairstyle is probably this picture had been doctored.
I've tried to set my hair to this kind of style but I failed once and once..or twist and turn ur hair wif some products? just lik wad TS said.
Spend more time on styling, and use both wax and spray..or ask someone to help u out! haha rclxm9.gif

TS: number 3 is the nicest since i personally always prefer longer hair with longer sides for asian dudes.

jind86 : short hair suits u a lot. the first one, that crew cut looks best of all.

yeah i find alot of people create the same kind of threads such as "where to find good hairstylist in KL", "what hair products to use", "what is the best style now".. lots of them which i have merged with existing threads.. this thread on the other hand presented itself in a new form of showing different hairstyles and asking for comments on which looked best in their opinion.. so i allowed this..

I am thinking of changing my hair style, after having the same hair style for 26 years.............before this my hair cut is RM5-RM15.

If I get a hair stylish to design for me, how much does it cost? Seriously, before this hair is just like "wth, it is just a hair". But I change my mind recently.

How much u guys budget for ur hair

Guys, no /Kopitiam-styled replies in here please. smile.gif

@don8ld > based on the shape of your face, I'd suggest that you reduce the volume of your hair by trimming the top and sides to balance out the proportions with your face. Although, I can't really give a clear judgment since your picture on Facebook is quite small and head is slightly tilted downwards the front in the picture making your face appear longer and hair appearing thicker.

Anyway, the korean hairstyle which you've linked up should work well compared to your current hair. Be adventerous, I'd say since hair will grow back. Throughout my teens, I've tried a lot of different styles with lengths varying from very short to very long.

Yeah. The bleaching process is the most painful and since you wanted purple, you have to bleach twice in order to get your hair to near-white colour and then only dying it purple for optimum vibrancy (anime hair colour).

I went through the same damn thing when I tried the 'kam mou' blond look during college days.

yup! indeed... im bored with my blonde look... haha! the purple quite hard to maintain... everytime wash hair...cannot shampoo too long... i did it last friday... and now the water i wash my head will still look purple...

Ryo, hey man. Nice photo you got there. But sadly I went to a wrong hair saloon they gave me a really bad haircut , and I was forced to cut it again and now it is really short doh.gif
So I have to wait for few months to get it to the length i had before I cut it sad.gif
BTW, I cant have that style but maybe similar because my school doesnt allow really long haircuts doh.gif

you can ask your stylist to recommend you a style ^^ tell them what u prefer and they'll suggest a style for you ^^

ermm... i normally never trim my hair coz salon price for pro cut is always 50 even if it is just a trim ^^'' so i'll wait for 5~6weeks normally and if i am lazy i'll just wait 2~3months for a cut ^^''lol

which salon you guys normally go for? mind to share?

You can get in some hair salons. Around rm50 something for a regular sized one. Not sure about the large one, it's double the amount of the regular one but the price is slightly less than buying two of the regular.

hmmm... didnt remember how long... i didnt purposely kept them as well.. sorta cut off the other parts from the previous hair style just to maintain this hair style..

but roughly i'd say... 3 months? But I change hair style once every 2 months so I'm not really sure how long tongue.gif

i kinda have a frizzy hair.
i dont know if i have curly hair as well?
or maybe my hair is just spoiled.
for my hair right after shampoo-ing.
it will be super soft. smooth and straight.

but after some time.....
it will get frizzy. rough. and you can see some of the hair starts to curl.
and its so freaking ugly!!!!

any recomendation?
should i go straighten it?
if not any hairstyles to recomend? it has to be short. still schooling. =S
and my face is rather long too.

please help. school is reopening soon.

that kind of hair allowed in the office??
wow...

cuz i keep hearing that kind of hair(medium long hair) won't get me anywhere during interview etc...
I was told to have a clean short hair-cut if I were to work as a proffesional
*
See how you style 1.. just keep it clean during the interview... Go crazy once you got the job tongue.gif

BTW my company doesnt have any restriction on hairstyle .. just dun go too extreme..

Have you tried conditioner? Problem is ... your hair is short so why straigthen it ? it'll look weird if your hair is short. But thought you'll style ur hair .. so is the frizz/curl still a problem after styling?

tried. dove. it sucks. dont help much.
i mean when its short like say 3cm length its completely soft and fine.
but when it grows longer than that. some of it starts to curl. and the hair gets frizzy.

currently still finding for a suitable style. haha!!!
got some real long hairstyle that i like.
too bad. i cant have it. schooling. =S
got any to recommend?

and currently im using himalaya's shampoo.

hi there guys,

here are a few questions about this hairstyle:

user posted imageuser posted image

1 - what is the name for this hairstyle (if there is any)?
2 - how long generally does it take the stylist to do this? (i.e how long do i have to be in the salon? 2-3 hours?)
3 - if anyone did it before, mind telling which salon did you get it done (preferably Klang Valley) and the price?

My hair is long (shoulder length) and been getting an earful from the parents.
So I figure since I'm gonna cut it eventually, would like to try this for the very first time and hope for the best.

Thanks in advance.

don't worry, i don't think long hairstyles would suit you. Either a buzzcut or a mild faux hawk me thinks..

Any hairstylist here.. or .. whatever blink.gif

i need some table for what kind of face.. or head suitable for which kind of hairstyle..

i'm headache for my hairstyle.. whatever style i wax.. or comb.. it just like a stack of messy grass (except so called karipap head.. makes me like ah biao) shocking.gif

i'm having:

1) thin hair.. but not that kind of BALD (just not thick)

2)short/med in length

3) easily to get mess when there is any wind blow over my head.. even just a gentle breeze (i'm wondering is it b'coz i'm having a thin hair, as i saw my friends wit thick hair.. they seems don't have this kind of issue.. whereas they just simply wax it.. then it will looks so great)

4) and then.. YA.. i have some natural brown for my hair colour.. (it makes alot of misapprehension during my 2ndary skul time)

5) can't wax myself into those layer style.. as it's too thin

i'm requesting for:

1) anything.. just not long/barehead or wants me to wear a wig shakehead.gif

2) easy to maintain.. and not easily to get mess

Please be a real man and have gentlemen's haircut. Don't go for ugly japanese long bangs that are so out of date 3 years ago. Take a look at tidy cropped short hairs, its a must if you are losing hair.

Well, I like the slumber look. But long hair's a no, working in a professional accounting firm, so i went for the mohawk cut. Kinda like this.

However, I guess the mohawk look didn't originate from Asia, so its kinda off topix :<

Any recommendation for hair wax/clay/mouse/watever that is dry type and not so oily, long lasting, strong holding(for hair around 12cm,need to spike up abit),easy to wash off and most importantly,cheap/reasonable price?

Schwartzkopf's OSIS+ line, albeit a little costly, should get the job done. Guaranteed you will be getting hairstyle as strong and spiky like Hitsugaya Toushirou's.

If you really intend to cosplay, wax or clay is definitely good because they allow you to restyle your hair since hours of posing and sweating can probably ruin a hairstyle.

Anyway, the last I checked, OSIS+ costs around RM40+ and available in certain saloons or most saloon supplies shops.

Picture references - that is the only way to relay an accurate message, words will only serve to confuse the hairstylist and you might not be getting what you were expecting in the end.
You are in luck in you or the saloon happen to have a hairstyle book which you can use, else, get a picture of the hairstyle that you want from the internet or magazines.

I would recommend that you try getting from shops selling saloon supplies because it will be much cheaper than getting from saloons. The last time I was in a saloon supply shop, I saw a group of friends buying some OSIS+ because there was some sort of promotion.

Most shopping complexes that has saloons usually have shops selling saloon supplies. I know there are a few in Sungei Wang and around Petaling Street.

i've been seeing this hair look on the past few months men's magazine shoots/covers and mark ronson has also been donning this style lately.
and also a few runway show models have been having this cut during the last few seasons.
i take it as it is the current hairstyle trend for young adults?

what kind of cut would you call this?
.. or maybe there's not even a specific name for this cut?

dudette, in the first place, i did not say i was going to get my hair all puffed up like mark.
i just said i can pull it off.
and the thread was started because i was just wondering what this cut was called.

anyways, i don't think this cut will be permitted at school.
.. so??

I'd say it is acceptable.

Although, it could look nicer if you trim your sideburns and cover the split in front with a little fringe.

Most of our metalheads got a really nice long hair. Nice medium/long hair+shredding a guitar+banging on the stage. Looks good for them.

Wondering how's their patience on waiting the hair to grow..

i dye my hair blue before

this is waht happen

bleach once and dye blue ( not the bright type)

first day - dark blue

4 day - Blue

1 week later - blue green

2 weeks - green blue

3 weeks - green fade

4 week - donno apa color

future - gold

so the color last about 2 weeks ( without using color protect products etc ), and i didnt wash hair for first 3 days.

after that everytime i watch, the whole floor is flooded with blue color water

conclusion: exotic color not worth

p/s: i shave off all my hair after that, the hair feels like burned straw/plastic after bleaching, dont feel like hair at all

don't know about this section, feel like opening up a new thread but i saw this thread already. might just ask questions regarding hairstyle here

1) i have a medium long hair, very very soft (like baby's hair as what the saloon girl told me). very hard to style up. last time i cut mohawk style but end up being cacat a bit because my hair cannot spike for a long time. used gatsby moving rubber (pink) , my mohawk hair can only spike around 2-3 hours and then blown flat. my hair is super soft, mind you.

headache man, what kind of hairstyle suits me? i'm a tall and thin guy anyways.

whats the usual rates? economical ones....

never been to one before, the usual hair saloon i go is 17 bucks per cut, but aweful larr, auntie only know how to cut girl hair, guy hair not very good
*
If u wanna go those well known ones(franchised ones) then normally from RM20~RM30

However some shop houses saloon, small business saloons do a good jobs with men's style too for just RM10~RM20..

But it's hard to trim my own sideburns,I can't cut it nicely  laugh.gif

Then just have short sideburns, I used to let my sideburns grow long thinking its nice, then finally I decided to try a short sideburn and it look much better bcuz my sideburns tend to curl a little if left long so it's not nice..

i think having a clean cut, spiky hair is still acceptable. anyway i think men should stay as men. have short masculine hairstyle rather than long and girly hair.

just to share a tip(which majority might already know)
after wax/rubber/whatever it is, if u doing a spike or hard to hold style, use a wax spray to spray a layer of wax over it and don't touch it after that, that can help keeping it in shape

Get one. It should be less than RM200 for an ionic one.
Wax alone won't work for most asian styles. No wonder you guys complain how hard it is to style.

only hot air can do the work, just like ironing, the heat with soften the hair and more manageable, but the heat mustn't be too hot too, moderate enough..
