Hi guys,
I m kind of new to poodles. I hav a toy poodle (approx. 1 year one month). Had her since she was 2 months plus. I see that she is getting really picky on her food. My groomer says that she is very thin for her age. She is bout 3.3kg only. Is there any methods or supplements for me to giv her so that she would eat properly instead of eating only when she is super hungry?

QUOTE(huey80 @ Jun 22 2011, 10:58 AM) u have ur poodle for almost 1 year now...so u cant be considered new to poodle world. They tend to be picky or hv smaller appetite when almost reaching 1 yr old. So u can either change its kibble brand/flavour or just accepts that she eats lesser now. Adults only eat once a day. U can spread 1 meal portion into morning n evening. This way, she wont suffer from gastric. And i think if she;s really a toy size, 3.3kg is not light/too skinny. Well, she is considered thin as u can see n feel her hip bones. She is jus being picky on food. she would eat any other things other than her food. That's d issue.

QUOTE(huey80 @ Jun 22 2011, 11:59 AM) what other things does she get to eat? home-cooked food? actually home-cooked meals can help kids to put on weight faster coz of the better digestion rate. if u dont mind cooking, maybe u wanna switch to this. otherwise just try another brand with occasional home-cooked meals. ive never experienced furkids that r so choosy until they reject kibbles altogether after being on home-cooked food. But if one day, they do...i think i will be very cold-blooded and let them starve till they wallop their kibbles. oh wait...i think i do encounter a bit of a prob with my son. Sometimes he doesnt finish his kibbles immediately or he waits till evening to eat his breakfast. So if i cant tolerate this, i only need to place another kid in front of him to threaten him and he will swallow his kibbles as soon as possible. Another way is to add supplement on his food like MyBeau, multivites tabs or powder form. What kind of supplements or multivites? My parent's toy poodle is on d opposite side as mine. Whack any damn thing tat drops from d sky dun care bout anything one whn food is concern. Eat first...do others later kind of attitude.
