Whatever happens to the "Poodle Standard"!

Although in this picture, this particular breed is so cute. Adorably small in size and talk about that beautiful rounded eyes!

However, in my opinion, I think that that we have to come up with another breed name for this as this is not really look like poodle anymore.

Toy poodle or poodle for that matter quote: (http://www.akc.org/breeds/poodle/index.cfm)

" Eyes-- very dark, oval in shape and set far enough apart and positioned to create an alert intelligent expression. [U]Major fault: eyes round, protruding, large or very light".

"Muzzle-- long, straight and fine, with slight chiseling under the eyes. Strong without lippiness. The chin definite enough to preclude snipiness. Major fault: lack of chin. Teeth-- white, strong and with a scissors bite. Major fault: undershot, overshot, wry mouth".

I wonder how did they come up with this Short muzzle and big rounded eyes look! Mix breeding perhaps?

What you guys think?

Some ppl said cross with maltese or photoshoot touch up, actually is plastic surgery. Usually poodle is almond eyes, after operation become oval eyes. Quiet long at japan. Not only poodle , Chihuahua, maltese , french bulldog

thanks for the info.... at least now we know why the eyes became like that! Well, I guess they have to operate each and every puppy that is born before they can be sold in the market... its their choice.

As long as the pups are healthy, then its acceptable.

could it be dried saliva from the mum? all 5 of them have this problem o_o.

Hi there,

Were you able to have the vet check them already? Were you able to find out what it is actually?

Here are few of my suggestions for home remedy treatments:
1. Try applying Tea Tree Oil on the affected area. Its a natural antiseptic for Pet Medication.
*** note: mix 1 teaspoon of tea tree oil with 1 cup of water. When using tea tree oil for pet medication, always dilute it as full strength can cause irritations.

for the fur that's sticking together (Also good if its dry & itchy)
2. Fish Oil - preferably Salmon - apply it directly

Hope it helps!

Hi Guys, I have been reading the posts here. to that one guy who is so offended and exasperated with the concerned people here, There is only one thing I want to advice you. LISTEN & LEARN, People in this forum have "been there done that". they are only concern about the life of the poodle pup that you are bringing into your life as well as all the costs that you will incur in bringing up a sick puppy!

How do I know? well, I am one of those "unfortunate buyer".

I wished that I have been friends and learned from the people here in this forum (that you are bashing!) before making my first poodle purchase!

Based on my experience, with buying poodle and all, I didn't pay cheap or expensive poodle. BUT, I have learned my lesson well. BUY FROM REPUTABLE BREEDER! Believe me, it costs more money for all the supplements and all the best food I can give her. You will see my Sadie's baby pics on FB to understand what I mean (Or let me know, I will posts her before and after picture here).

BTW, I was also told that she was a toy poodle, but on her first month with me, she was already 8.5inch height (3 months old), why grow so FAST!??. when I asked the breeder if she is a toy or a mini, you know what he told me? He questioned my LOVE for Sadie! see what I mean? BAD BREEDER DON'T CARE AT ALL! vmad.gif

With the insightful posts here in this forum, expert FB friends as well as lots of research, I was able to make my baby better and I am proud to tell you that she is well mannered, fun loving girl and she hardly barks at all! my first poodle love! smile.gif

I can see that you have the heart for the animal as well based on your posts here and you mentioned that you will be OK even though its mix breed. So why not consider adopting at our local shelter? you will absolutely save a life. smile.gif

P.S.
Don't get upset with me. Just like any other protective mom, I am not comfortable talking about my baby here. BUT I felt like I have a responsibility to let you know so that you will somehow learn from my experience.

Hello , i have researched online about poodles. Some people say mka cert not so important some people say mka cert important if you only want a purebreed one , so i want to ask if which is better. I had look at the first post , several times already SHOWING POODLE HAIRCUTS.

I have already click that new puppy care , but they dont tell me what i needed , therefore i am asking but non of you satisfy my answer.

About cheap dog and the low budget thing , i saw lowyat selling ranges about Rm450 to rm 1.3k therfore i want to offer a price in the middle range is that wrong?

How can i determine if that person is a responsible breeder? What if he isnt and selling the pups at high price to cheat others? Therefore i was asking if you guys know about any breeders but no no no , all i get is " get from responsible owner !! u super low budget !! u gonna dump dog when it get big!! "

Fyi i wasnt bragging. If you call that bragging then i got nothing else to say. No use crying over spoilt milk.

Rephrasing what i say? You can look at the guinea pig thread and see how do i chat. I only chat like this when i am angry. I just come here , i did look at the front , nothing satisfy me so i ask but dunno u get annoyed for whatever reasons.

This is the poodle thread no? I thought you could help me to get answer for my question .... But i did not ..

I did say sorry if i offended people on my second post here ,  So if you think im still rude , up to u lah.

About the link of the Rm500 poodle , i was just curious so i ask about stuff.. haix.. i really dunno wat to say already.

@the dude above , I AM NOT A GUY. I Read not listen . What can i learn if i know about it already?

though its wrong usage of words, but these days,in an informal communication such as this, "A guy" is not just used for men my dear, and you even call me "Dude" which is also men, my name here is newpoodlemum! ah, go figure! but that's fine with me, because these days "dude" is also use for both men and women ....Ayooo english english..that's why people better meet in person, this kind of discussion online will cause BIG trouble!

No point arguing here on who said this or who said that! I thought that my experienced will open your mind in the good way, but you have to look for the negative side of my letter and even got angry with me.

We are just concern period! but if we disappointed you, we are very sorry indeed that this poodle thread does not satisfy you. We promise to handle this better next time.

on the positive note, i will not answer anymore of this discussion.

Sorry for late reply. Just finished long day at work...

& Debbie - with regards to the oil, I have ordered the red palm oil for you already, I will go pick it up once I go back my hometown (Teluk Intan) and will let you know smile.gif . On the other hand, I also give Sadie Fish Oil (Preferably Salmon). It is very good indeed! I agree with CyaNide27, you can also give Human consumption fish oil. That's exactly what I am buying for Sadie smile.gif

OH and yes! I am Sadie's Mum smile.gif
