Nani: I'm living the dream
QUOTE ![]() It's not just Manchester-born first-teamers who dreamt of playing for the Reds as youngsters. Portuguese winger Nani has revealed he visited Old Trafford before he joined United and sat in the dressing room daring to dream he would one day earn his own place there. In an exclusive interview with Inside United, the 23-year-old tells of his trip to M16 as a youngster and looks back on how far he has come since. "I came with my friend and we did the tour of the museum and the stadium," explains to the monthly magazine, out now. "I remember sitting in the first-team dressing room and both of us saying ‘wow, this is Ronaldo’s place’ and ‘this is where Rooney and Giggs sit'! "We sat there and said ‘imagine what it would be like to be part of this dressing room one day,’…and then two years later I was here. It was a great feeling when I signed." Nani talks in-depth about his emergence as one of the key men for United in 2010, and how he is enjoying his football and feels at home in Manchester and at United. "The life here is very nice," he adds, "but the best things for me are being able to play football every day for such a great club and having the opportunity to win trophies each season. "I’ve learnt a lot in my time here - I'm older, more experienced and I have more confidence. It's my fourth season at the club and it feels like this is home now." http://www.manutd.com/default.sps?pagegid=...&newsid=6652071 When Paddy met Giggs QUOTE MUTV pundit and 1968 European Cup winner Paddy Crerand has an interview technique all of his own - as Ryan Giggs found out in MUTV’s continuing series… Paddy Crerand: I remember watching you as a young lad and people were saying you were the next George Best. That must have been quite a weight on your shoulders as you’re not as good looking as George! Ryan Giggs: [Laughs] No, I’m not! It never really bothered me to be honest. I remember seeing the headlines but I think because I was young, I didn’t really dwell on it; it wasn’t something that affected me. PC: Did David Beckham help take the limelight away from you then? RG: When I first broke in to the team I had a lot of press intrusion, which I tried to shy away from as they want to know more than just about your life on the pitch but about your private life as well. I didn’t enjoy it at all. But then Becks came along which took the pressure off me! He always enjoyed the limelight and it never affected his football. That’s an area in which myself and Becks differ. PC: I’ve got to ask you about the goal against Arsenal in the FA Cup semi final in 1999. It was the best goal I’ve ever seen. When you first got the ball, my lads were shouting “pass it, pass it”, then it ended up in the back of the net! RG: I didn’t pass it because I was having an absolute shocker up until that point. I’d given the ball away about 3 or 4 times, so I thought next time I get the ball I’m just going to run with it. PC: Was there ever a point where you contemplated leaving United as you must have had loads of offers? RG: I’ve never really been close to leaving United and I’ve never wanted too. I believe a few Italian clubs were interested but that was just speculation. As a footballer you want challenges and every year at United there is a new challenge every year. http://www.manutd.com/default.sps?pagegid=...&newsid=6652078 This post has been edited by alien2003: Sep 8 2010, 06:08 PM |

i was just watching FanZone on chn 817. Theres this guy name Mohamed from Malaysia talking on the show through phone and he was real friggin sh*t.
His point is he thinks Manchester United's squad is too small. Once Rooney get injured, the squad is going to be dead just because his team can cope with the absence of van persie and walcott. -So he thinks that United can't win games without Rooney? He thinks Michael Owen is just a toy we keep in our shelve huh? And how about our Mr Own goal ;p Next point, Scholes is not the type of player for the premier league. He only know how to pass and rarely score goals. He is just not worth the starting 11. - This is pure bullsh*t! Scholes is what every EPL clubs lack! A darn creative and sharp player! If im not wrong, Real Madrid have Xabi Alonso to do that job. Barcelona had Yaya Toure, and now Mascherano? I think FanZone was over broad doing this. Letting two fans from different club : its united and arsenal this time, talk on the same time. Not only that, he host actually forces this two to fight. Its like, Host:Mohamed, what do you think of United's chance of winning the PL. Mohamed : No chance. This season is definately Arsenal, confirm. Host: Awww, Tinker, wat do you say? Tinker: No no, Arsenal dont stand a chance, its United and Chelsea again. Host: Oh, Mohamed, what do you think? Mohamed: Nahh, definately no United, Its Arsenal and Chelsea. Just watch the fulham match and u will know that United is no title challenge. I think this shouldn't happen on a football talk show. Its like Shebby support Newcastle, and John Dykes in for Sunderland. Then they start fighting verbally lol.. |

Ando and Wes bolster Reserves
QUOTE Anderson continues his comeback from injury against Stockport County this evening, while Wes Brown will also bolster the second string as he joins brother Reece in United's defence. The Brown brothers may again team up in the centre, flanked by Ritchie De Laet and Scott Wootton, while Sam Johnstone makes his first competitive Reserves start in goal. Anderson will be joined by Ravel Morrison, Magnus Eikrem, Corry Evans and Nicky Ajose in midfield, with Will Keane leading the line. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has Conor Devlin, Oliver Gill, Marnick Vermijl, Robbie Brady and John Cofie on the bench. The Reds have made a strong start to the new Manchester Senior Cup season, with group stage victories over Manchester City and Oldham Athletic already secured. Three more points against Stockport on Thursday evening would put United on the brink of the final. http://www.manutd.com/default.sps?pagegid=...&newsid=6652189 Everton keeper in awe of Edwin QUOTE Tim Howard has expressed his admiration and respect for Edwin van der Sar, despite the Dutchman replacing him as United's number one in 2005. The Everton goalkeeper has praised the longevity of his Old Trafford counterpart, who'll be at the opposite end of Goodison Park on Saturday when the Reds visit the Toffees in the Barclays Premier League. “Edwin has performed admirably for his club and country for such a long time and he seems to get better and stay at a very high level," Howard told Sky Sports News. "That's not easy to do in that position and at a club like Manchester United.” Having seen off the recent challenge of Ben Foster, who signed for Birmingham City in the summer, van der Sar is now entering his sixth season at Old Trafford. Holland's most capped player will turn 40 in October, but shows no sign of hanging up his gloves just yet. “Hats have to go off to Edwin and other keepers like him at that age to keep plugging away," said Howard. "I'm nine years away from that and it's difficult now because of the pressures and the work that you put in. To get to that age [in top-fligt football], you've done very well." http://www.manutd.com/default.sps?pagegid=...&newsid=6652188 ps: Selamat Hari Raya to the fellow Muslim MUST posters and happy holiday for those who are not celebrating This post has been edited by alien2003: Sep 9 2010, 11:39 PM |
