I recently wrote this story. I was thinking of developing it into a novel .. Tell me what you think k?
It has a children's novel genre.

Chapter 1: Charlie decides to write a book.
Cold wind was blowing through the slightly open windows of a small public school. It was the beginning of December, the day before Winter Break.
For many people, this day was full of fun; It was the last day of the term, you wouldn’t see you friends for a whole month. Most teachers don’t teach today, they just relax. Everyone enjoys this day.
But not for Charlie. Usually this day would be one of the happiest days in his entire school year. You could bring board games and eat pizza in class, and the teacher would just join in. Not this year. This year, he was sitting in his class pondering about what his teacher said earlier.
“This time I want all of you to write some short stories during the holidays,” began Mrs. Harrick. “It will be a fun learning experience to you all.” Wasn’t that great? You could spend the whole of your holidays having fun. But instead, you would have to write a story. “You will write a story a day and compile it on sheets of paper that have been stapled together.”
Why should we do this? Thought Charlie, He knew that half the class wasn’t even going to write anything. Apparently the school wanted to help the students to communicate fluently in English, and this was one of their plans.
“Also,” continued Mrs. Harrick, “The best stories from each class will be chosen and be put forward.” She glanced at her class. Of all the twenty-five pupils, she could only see that few students who actually paid attention. Children nowadays were obsessed with money and brands. Like if one child owned a Playstation, the others would pester their parents for one as well. She took a breath and continued. “And if your stories are chosen, you could win some prize money.”
At that moment, all twenty-five heads perked up. Everyone seemed to be listening intently at the moment she said money.
“The school has decided that the winners of this school competition would win Two hundred dollars.” Explained Mrs. Harrick. “And the runner ups would receive family tickets to the Gold Coast theme park in Sydney.”
“So the winner doesn’t get theme park tickets?” asked a small, slightly mousey boy.
“No Simon, but the winner gets the prize money and a chance to get their book published by an international publisher.” Said Mrs. Harrick in reply to his question. At that moment, the bell echoed loudly in the hall. The clock on the classroom wall showed three o’ clock. School was over and it was the beginning of the holidays.
“Excuse me miss,” Charlie approached the teacher. “What do we write about?”
“Anything you want really,” smiled Mrs. Harrick, glad that one of her less interactive students was taking an interest.
Later that day, Charlie returned home thinking about what to write. He didn’t really want to enter this competition but there was a whole month ahead of him to spend. Plus, there was a cash prize, if he won, he could use the money to buy something he wanted.
So directly after lunch, he set himself in his room. With the curtains drawn back, he began to think about what to write.
“Come to think of it, I don’t know how to write a story,” thought Charlie slumping down onto the table. Then he remembered all the times in class when they were asked to write stories. “Back then, topics and words were given, now there is nothing!”
So Charlie sat there blankly, trying to find even an inch of inspiration. But none came, the day turned into night and Charlie found himself on the dining table, pushing rice around.
The whole day had been wasted, he had not written a single line whatsoever. That night, Charlie made a point to write a chapter a day. Starting tomorrow.
