Hi everyone,

Looking to plan a backpacking trip in Europe next year. Just looking to see how many people are interested to go. I have some families in different parts in Europe (Sweeden, Scotland, Belgium) so we could plan stop there as well. PM me. We can plan out the details later.

FYI i am currently in US, but taking short vacation in Msia now.

I'm interested to backpack to Europe next year May/June as well, where are you going ? Places that I'm interested includes Prague, Vienna, Krakow and Amsterdam. I just came back from a trip to Copenhagen, Malmo and Stockholm and Stockholm especially is a really nice place.

Sorry for being late on this. Still researching nice places to visit. I will have a tentative draft up in a week about the places to see and rough route. Then maybe can decide where we want to stop, and date of travel. Estimated expenses will be a lot easier once we know roughly where we will be going.

Mclaren, can you share more on the transportation aspect? Did you use train, rent a car, buses or combination to move from one place to another?

So far i am thinking 4-6 cities, for like 2-3 weeks backpack. Have to see how can fit with other people schedule too.

Actually I was on a business trip to Copenhagen and I extended my trips for me to visit Malmo and Stockholm, basically I just commute by train from Copenhagen to Stockholm via Malmo. I find it rather easy to travel by train as I will be arriving in the Central Station of each of the destination I go. Bus is more time consuming and I wouldn't recommend it. I think taking train to travel within Europe is relatively easy and the best way to travel apart from traveling by flight. Do PM me when you got a rough idea on where to go and we can see how we can coordinate stuff.

I think you should try to go to Krakow instead of Warsaw for Poland, I was told by a Pole during my trip to Stockholm that there is nothing much to visit in Warsaw itself and Krakow is way nicer.

Vienna is a very nice place as well, maybe you should consider it as well ?

I guess sky scanner works better than kayak.com

Munich to Salzurg takes around 2 hours train or 1 hours plus drive if didn't remember mistakely

How many days you all plan tentatively for the trip? I think you need to book well in advance to get cheap air/train ticket. Perhaps can consider Eurotrain ? So you all are planning to take flight to Munich from your origin?

MAX Two weeks (16 days) for me due to annual leaves constrain

If we really want to save money and fly to europe, airasia -> Paris gives the fair prices with good timing amid its maybe not comfort seats

airasia LCCT -> Paris, depart around 11.30p.m and arrival at Paris on next morning
airasia London -> LCCT, depart around 11.30p.m and arrival at LCCT on next morning

This combination can be lower than Rm2k during sales time

I suggest you to fix a date
then the rest of us will try to fit in

Let say Sept 20th to Oct 10th
If i only can make it there, I will join
or may i can only make it Sept 20th to 1st Oct, then i will join for this period only

this would be easier for you or else it is hard to find a date that can accommodate everyone

Cheap train tickets only open up 3 months before hand
Flying will be another option via Easy Jet / Ryan Air  biggrin.gif  sometimes it is cheaper than train tickets

Basically the tentative dates you all set is in the month of October and not June instead ?

Hi. Anyone can suggest when is the best month to visit europe? Thinking to go europe for 1 month.

Generally the best time to visit Europe is during Spring (March to May) or Fall/Autumn (September-November) period as the temperature is not that cold and much lesser crowd compare to the peak Summer season (June-August) which is super hot as well.
