I've encountered such website(s) before and this is what I can summarize about them:

• OEM Software? Bullshit! - OEM softwares especially Windows and Office have COA and you will need them to prove that your software is genuine.
  
• Can't receive updates? Bullshit! - If your softwares are genuine, no matter if it's retail or OEM, you should and can receive updates from publisher
  

Those softwares on their site are either stolen full version softwares (that doesn't require online/offline activation), softwares with generated license keys, pre-cracked softwares (that have licensing part stipped) or abuse uses of license keys (in case of Windows and Office).

Once, I found a link on the Internet to those kind of site that offers Photoshop CS4 which they claim to be full original version. I somehow managed to extract the direct link to the file and downloaded it. Guess what, they put in a keygen in there and ask their "customer" to generate a key for their use. So much for the original eh?

My advice? Stay away. It does tempting as the prices are waaaaaay cheaper than any retailers can offers, but it's not worth your times, moneys and efforts.

For eBay however, you can still deal with them, but you need to be really careful. Most of the times, I only buy vintage softwares as those are hard to get and, well, since it's vintage, no one bothers to counterfeit them.

I recently came across a small program that checks the validity of your Product Key (not Product ID), so you can know if it's genuine without actually installing it. Or you can know if the Key is retail or MSDN or OEM before you use it in installation.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post the link to the download of the program, or if I'm allowed to upload such program.
For all I know, the program could be a fake itself.

I tried couple Keys from my friends, and the program somehow was able to identify the Keys.

So, anyways, if you know of, or have heard of, such program, please share your insight.

It's called: Windows 7 PID KEY Checker 1.0.1.

RM178?? What license you bought it ? It will show the message your windows not genuine. your pc is fine not worry.

The key is genuine, but most likely taken from a TechNet/MSDN subscriptions, which is only meant for use by the account holder. So if you ask me, I'll still classified that as not genuine as you can't prove that you buy it because you didn't get any COA or any proof that you've purchased the real thing. If possible, I suggest you to ask for refund if the seller can't provide some kind of concrete proof of its authenticity.

Usually your money is good as gone, but I don't know, you can try though.

PC shop and they didn't provide COA for you? You should definitely report them to consumer tribunal even if they did refund you back. Who knows how much customers has been conned into buying them

If they refuse to refund, try to negotiate with them for discount by buying goods from them.

Sincerely, i advise you should prepare for the worst.

Since they give you the code without COA, they can simply deny the whole transaction has taken place.

Good for you. Always try to negotiate for some other things other than software ( since they did not provide you the license meant for you to use) before going to the tribunal to pressure them if the situation goes hostile.

However, there is 1 question raised in my mind:

Did they actually explain to you that the key is wholly and exclusively for you to use or you just straight away buy just because it is cheap without fully understand the package offer?

Ha, yes, that's true. But then again, it's all depends on the buyers observation skills too to make sure it's genuine + really good deal = FTW! Windows XP (SP3) will still have extended support until 2014, so perhaps that's why there are still many peoples flocking to get it. To me, I already move on and only buy those softwares for collection purposes only.

And I have to agree about antivirus suites. Now day there's lot of peoples selling keys only, and while the authority might not ask for any COA, it still poses risk to the buyer as they can be blacklisted anytime.

Retail version sell for RM 369 like that. including both DVD.

Almost like the fake windows7 pictures in the first page except it's windows 7 Ultimate.

This is clearly the counterfeit one. Have you tried asking her where is her office? Perhaps I might come and get one for reference purpose of course!

Take a look at the COA. There's no such thing as Made in USA as all Microsoft retail products are made in two places AFAIK, its either Puerto Rico or Singapore. Secondly, take a look at the security line on the left side of the COA, and compare it to the images on the first page. Thirdly, I don't know if it's caused by the poor lighting, but the holographic disc doesn't look that shiny. The reflective part of the disc seems... fade.

And one last point, if you as the seller, want to sell to Malaysian, or Singaporean, or any customers in SEA countries, why don't you buy the SEA geo-lock version? It's way cheaper than those International, non geo-lock version which doesn't make any sense, unless it's counterfeit.
