Hello all, first of all thank you for your time and help

Im so sorry if this topic doest belong here.Im facing quite a frustrating problem. This prolem sometimes come and gone but i cant take it anymore shakehead.gif ... When i play games, i would have this lag that repeats every 30secs-1min. No matter what games (old and new) and what settings i play (low or high) this thing still happens. i tried to google and still nothing ever solves this problem. This is what i have already tried

1. cleaning my cpu and gpu
2. fresh install win 7 32 bit
3. latest 10.8 ATI CCC
4. updating my chipset
5. updating my bios
6. defraging my disc
7. adding fan to the case

This is my system

Intel pentium D 2.8GHz
2x 1GB Kingston ddr2 ram
Simbadda Aluminium power 530watts
Powercolor HD 4670 512mb ddr3 gpu
WD 120gb SATA hd

As for the temperature of my cpu, it never goes over 50 degree on load and 35 degree when idle (no ac room) and im using Deep Cool Ice blade.[recorded using Speed fan] No oc also

For my Hd 4670,the maximum temp when i play NBA 2k10 (the most game i played) is 49 degree.[recorded using MSI afterburner] I also increased the clock and memory setting to 780/1000. Ive been using this setting for like 1 year already.Fan is set at 100%. Before this i can play games like Dirt2,Metro 2033 and Just Cause 2 at high settings without any problems at all. Then this prick problems come again. huhhhh....

I also want to point out that im using small casing. Is that a problem?i can play games with no prob at all before..

Does increasing my card setting cause all of this?

Thank you so much to all that is reading.I hope that this problem can go away for good... icon_question.gif

HOLY S!!! it works!! ive just played 2 5minute quaters of NBA2k10 and not a single lag! How do you know it was the ram??

Secondly, when i took out the ram i just remember that i have diff brand of rams. 1 is kingston and another 1 is Corsair. But both have the same frequency. Is one of the ram broken??

Thank you so much bro!! Can you explain a bit? hehehe im kind a newbie also

Added on August 27, 2010, 11:16 amim using gamebooster so antivitus is being turned off

Added on August 27, 2010, 12:06 pmit turns out that the lag still persist, but the frequency is less. Can it is because of 1 gig ram only?

there is one second i thought im god when i saw ur word "holy"
lol

yes because 1 gig, the ram is fully using, so u will stil experience some lag after long time playing.
try change n play with the other 1 ram, c the result, c whether the ram alone got problem or not

hahaha,i also cant believe that time.once i take off the ram, the lag just gone for a while. So as the consequences, which one is better ----> should i buy another 1gb Kingston(with the same specs) or 2gb Kingston?

To squall0833: The lag is like fps suddenly dropping, happens around 2-5 second, once in 30 to 1 minute. Really frustrating. It happens in any game, on any settings.

so you took one of the ram off, no more lag?

yawn.gif, how about put it back and take another one out?

if problem back, then that stick maybe faulty

IMHO, I think you should downgrade your OS to Win XP since you are more concern about the gaming experience.
XP is the faster OS compare to Vista and Win 7

I have nothing against Win 7, just that it is mean for new pc with better CPU speed.
You are having an old system, and it should better to stick to XP.

p/s just my 2 cents and I don't think adding additional RAM will solve your problem ...

One RAM stick could be faulty or got parity error. Parity errors are usually caused by defective memory chips.

check your ram with the program "memtest86"

thanx for the reply.latest update, were back to square one. eventhough i used one stick ram, the 30 second then lag thing still happen. (T^T) i tried both stick and both slot, nothing changes.i wonder what makes it stop lagging the 1st time i took off the ram?? mysterious..

thx for the input,i would try and report back later.ok?

Added on August 28, 2010, 7:07 amis there any chance that this problem could be related to gpu? because some people on the internet said that their prob dissappear when they change to a new gpu...how do i know if my gpu is still good?

could be your mainboard faulty. The chipset can be faulty after some period of long use and some capacitors may suffer deterioration.

Some components may fails such as harddisk controller and when it does, that's where the lag show up.

If GPU failed, your driver (CCC) may report driver restart, u experience artifacts or BSOD.

Just my opinion.

I actually have the same problem as well.

I have tried many different kind of rams, i use 2 x 1 GB ram it runs fine.

When I put 4 x 1 GB ram or 2 x 2GB ram there the split second freeze.

Been buying different ram and test but problem still there.

As I am typing this the split second freeze is happening too.

It's annoying as hell !
