student? lack of skills and cash? let's play what uncle jimmy teach us
http://jimmyauw.com/2009/05/10/basic-audio-mods-tutorial/
if you are wondering where to get this? you can buy it from almost any computer shops for cheap

this type of speaker comes in many sizes and shapes, mine looks like this
Attached Image
first of all.... watch for the amp ic, it should be a fake, it is a clone from china... like mine
its called other stupid names like UTC2025, CD2025 etc. something stupid.... and if you compare the original and the fake, the fake one sounds bad like beep beep sound.. even size is wrong but looks about the same.

this guy, has the crap 'china' version of it as well =)
http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/chip-amps/1...ternatives.html
Attached Image
but the original one... that can be found on your legendary ISA soundcard is awesome!
Attached Image
its a too bad if you cannot find the original tea2025b... you still can use the clone!
yeah yeah china products cut cost and stuff again... here it is....
instead of using 100uf caps they use 47uf caps,470uf use 220uf.. i expect that in your set too
and they add a resistor C10 and C11 to cut off the low freq so you can't hear the 'usb powered' noise and 'bass' noise because it will brak brak brak pecah speaker sound... but makes your sound like shit... so i bypass them..just keep them there to show you i bypassed
Attached Image
bla bla bla no need so expensive 'overkill' caps for this mod...
just as long as you don't use the caps mentioned in badcaps.net
and cheaplo max caps, fakes, rudoycon found in jalan pasar
just drive down to glenmarie or ss13 to buy a reputable cap eg. panasonic
or... can get them for free from no longer used VHS,VCD and LD player
but if you use lousy caps... then forget it, dun need to mod. waste time
Attached Image
in my case... i got the parts from old cassette car player and LD player for free =)

okay... trow away all their rubbish nonsense plonk in my stuff...
slowly take your time to desolder and solder the parts together and don't leave the iron on the parts too long or it'll fry

partslist
16v 1000uf x1
16v 470uf x2
16v 100uf x5
50v 0.22uf x2
Attached Image
if you cannot get 16v its okay to go higher voltage but not lower and for the 0.22uf if you cannot find you can plonk in 50v 0.47uf,1uf should work fine too =) just see la what you can get
if you want to dunk in any other value... you better know what you are doing.....
Attached Image
if you have a little more time and money or for fun, it is recommended that you change the volume pot to a better one if yours looks like this =)
Attached Image
try to jam everything back inside, but if failed or you don't like the original lousy speakers...
simply plug into any of your favourite pair of speakers or you can use it as headphone amp
it is also recommended that you do NOT continue using it as USB powered because its so clear now the noise from the computer can now be heard
optimal power for this is 9v dc

you can post yours here when you did it =)

ehehe... I guess u oso give up if given a chance...

btw this amp can get pretty loud too
previously I've told you if play bass it'll distort, that's not from the amp,it's from the speaker driver tongue.gif

so imma guess if it's modded for headphone amp,it's gotta be some serious stuff drool.gif

okay, as promised, a hack of the soundcard.....
Attached Image
at first i wanted to use the ISA version of it... then i realised i do not have enough space to re-cap it
maybe some other time....
Attached Image
so i used the pci version....
Attached Image
this where you put the power on it, directly solder 9v. i changed the power filter cap to a bigger one =)
Attached Image
this where the input goes... add a volume pot if needed
Attached Image
just trace the thingy if you need to 'shortcut' anything....
