Contradiction between XbitLab and fudzilla release data..
Maybe BD delay to meet Radeon 7000 series, better hope it is not

Fudzilla: 19th of September (Link)

Lenzfire: Very soon within September (Source)

AMD Reschedules Launch of FX-Series Chips to October, Changes Launch Lineup
QUOTE
user posted image

It is in mid October or Q4 2011 this time compared to 19th September. FX-4170 also does not look promising with such a chip having a 125W TDP @ 4GHz+ as it might indicate there is not much overclocking headroom compared to the Core i5 2500K.

OCing is pretty pointless for gamer now since we're still stuck in PS3/X360 cycle. I'm only interested to see how their fusion GPU stacks up to HD3000.

Smoother Framerates i assume? Looks like Dirt3 scale quite well.
Less core for gaming = Higher CPU usage = higher possibility of lagging or sudden drop in FPS, imho.
*
Mean more cores allow low CPU usage and power usage ? and this allow more smooth gaming experience.

Perhaps they still can't meet the performance they wanted it to be... hmm.gif
or perhaps another waiting games strategy.
Intel is on an enjoyable position... sigh

The delays only for desktop chip, server chip start shipping already

If you are comparing 2 cpu with same manufacturing process:
More cores = more transistors = eat more electricity = higher power consumption tongue.gif
Smooth gaming experience depending on many factors, some game dont use more than 2 cores(most calculation/tasks performed on GPU already), 8 cores BD would be useless for such games.
Most gamers choose intel because better performance per core sweat.gif

Normal consumers don't really give a cr*p about servers though..
And I'm a normal pc user.. >_>

I am hoping for BD to hv at least as good performance compared to SB.. If can better than SB, all the better. At least, that means they are ready for IB..

smaller fabrication with 8 cores consume lower wattage compare to larger fabrication with 2/4 cores

If Bulldozer managed to get single threaded performance of i5-2500, then it should not be a problem buying it. smile.gif

Interlagos is a server part, there is no desktop variant. The client version of Bulldozer is Zambezi and it will launch in Q4.

It is confirmed that there will be nothing this 19th September. Q4 is October onwards.

With the way they plan on the 8 core pricing against the 2600K. I am positive that it wont be.

That's 4967, if not mistaken. AFAIK even the Phenom II X6 scores higher that this. hmm.gif

Sad,

QUOTE
The first AMD FX CPUs have shown up for pre-order at Shopblt.com. The three SKUs listed are FX-8150, FX-8120 and FX-6100 priced at $266, $222 and $189 respectively. The good news is that the pricing is lower than expected - previously rumoured to be in the $300 to $320 range for the top CPU. The bad news is that such pricing suggests the FX-8150 is unlikely to beat Core i7 2600 in many situations.

As always, pre-order prices are normally higher than launch prices. Hence, we can expect the FX CPUs to sell for even lesser.

The three CPUs are much the same as revealed by Gigabyte earlier. FX-6100 and FX-8150 have a TDP of 95W and 125W respectively. However, FX-8120 has a TDP of 125W at launch, while a future revision will drop the TDP of FX-8120 down to 95W. There's no indication of shipping dates as of now.

Kinda figured. Glad I stopped waiting and went Intel. Good luck to those who are still waiting, hopefully it's at least *close* to 2500k/2600k

I can't imagine it being worse than previous gen. If they fail again, they likely would compete with blue ocean strategy instead of going head-to-head again with intel in terms of raw processing power.

For me, I don't mind if it loses by a small margin to the current Intel chips. But it must outperform the Phenom II's instructions per cycle or I will be very unhappy.
