damn, do both 4.7 and 5.0 win a 4770k?

Probably, you can refer to an article here FX8350 overclocked to 5ghz. Though it's not a FX-9590, but the guy tried to overclock FX-8350 to 5ghz to catch a glimpse what performance level will FX-9590 come to offer compare to 4770K and 3770K.

It's been a couple of weeks since I been changing from Phenom II 955 @ 3.6GHz with the lowly FX-4100 @ 4.7GHz and lemme tell you something about it.

Most benchmark tells this is way slower than Phenom II, for example in Cinebench 11.5 my Phenom II @ 3.6GHz got 4.46 CPU ranking, while FX-4100 clocked at 5GHz only reach measly 4.07, same story in 3DMark06 CPU score and some other benchmarks where it lags behind the former.

But in an actual games I felt this is faster, in Serious Sam 3 for example framerate were consistent at 60fps even in heavy fights, on Phenom it will occasionally drops to below playable level. I'm truly surprised! In Skyrim too I thought this CPU will fail, but no, gameplay were smooth as butter. Same goes with other CPU heavy games like GTAIV and Starcraft II.

Still, unless you got a good motherboard, love overclocking or using old Athlon or triple or dual core Phenoms, I don't recommend for upgrade especially when you have quad core or hexa core Phenom II. But if you asked me, overclocking this FX is LOT of fun, haven't have this much fun since old Sempron s754 and Northwood Pentium 4 overclocking where they could reach 1GHz overclock easily biggrin.gif And this is only old Bulldozer based FX-4100, if you aiming for FX line I would recommend Vishera based FX-6300 as a bare minimum for an upgrade.

For Bulldozer, Piledriver CPU owner it's worth to download and install this.

AMD Kaveri APU Successor Named, Carizo Coming In 2015

Even though AMD's next-generation Kaveri APU, based on the Steamroller x86 CPU, GCN (Graphics Core Next) GPU, and HUMA memory architecture might not arrive until late in 1H of 2014, its successor is already named and being worked on by AMD. Carizo, successor to Kaveri, will arrive sometime in 2015, we are betting before the end of 1H 2015, and will feature further improvements in AMD's big APU push.

While nothing is confirmed, Carizo might most probably pack AMD's next-in-line Excavator CPU core and perhaps an improved GCN based GPU core. Memory architecture will undoubtedly feature further improvements, in line with AMD's big push for heterogeneous computing and unified memory.

"In the first half of 2014, AMD plans to release two more HSA-based APU series: Berlin for server products and Beema, to replace the existing Kabini APU series. In 2015, AMD will release Carizo and Nolan APU series to replace Kaveri and Beema, respectively, both featuring HSA."

There's no word on the manufacturing process, but AMD may move on to a smaller 20nm node by then, only to compete with Intel's 14nm Skylake platform.

AMD Confirms Kaveri will be Available in 2014

AMD confirmed that its next-generation socket FM2+ APUs, codenamed "Kaveri," will begin shipping in Q4-2013, and will be available "very early" in Q1-2014, in the retail (desktop component) channel. Mobile variants of the chip will be available a little later in the same quarter. AMD also described the stuff that "Kaveri" APUs will be made of - four x86-64 cores based on the "Steamroller" micro-architecture, major heterogeneous computing enhancements, a newer integrated graphics processor based on the and "Graphics CoreNext" micro-architecture.

The chance is slim, AMD want to focus more on APU/HSA.

I thought there are still the AMD FX 9370 and 9590?

But the TDP is scary.....AMD website rated those 2 above at 220W @@

The FX 8350 was like 125W TDP only

hi all, first and foremost...i just bought mobo and proc. what i want to know and make sure is..does AMD FX 8320 can be used out of the box pair with Asus M5A99X Evo R2.0?

yesterday when i assembled everything into place, i cant get anything power up.. and even more puzzled me when i tried with my Phenom II X4 955 BE, it doesnt power up as well. if power supply issue, i dont think so because i can still power up previously with my other mobo (GA-780T-USB3 with Phenom II X4 955 BE).

issit the mobo really rosak or what? i heard that some mobo need to flash a new bios version or firmware upgrade in order to use or support the said proc..

pls advise...pls dont say i waste my dough for lousy mobo cry.gif

The ASUS M5A99X EVO motherboard already has AM3+ support out of the box and it should support your AMD FX-8320 processor

Emanyshie, u sure you've plugged in all the power connectors onto the mobo? Also, is there any clearance between your mobo and casing? The back of the mobo must not touch the casing else it won't power up.
