I've bought mine (FX-8320) from Cycom yesterday. Bought a new GC, mobo, RAM, HDD, casing etc from them too. For a less than RM1700 upgrade, I am very very happy with the results smile.gif

to save some money, I took the asus m5a78, which is the cheapest am3+ out there. yeah I know that the chip set is older type but I am not a over clocker and don't intend crossfire. the processor cost me 570... kinda expensive compared to some forumer but I needed it on sunday and no forumer is open on sunday. .

I don't want to be rude, but the manual is there for a reason. In case you were lazy, its in page 1-43, yes I have downloaded the manual for that motherboard and read it.

Its just a general rule of thumb, no matter how expert you are in computer, you must read the manual that comes with hardware because sometime common question or tips and tricks is inside there already.

I've read it so many times but the manual just say
CODE
Do not forget to connect the 4-pin/8-pin EATX12V power plug. Otherwise, the system will not noot
Have u try this board ? Need all 4 and 8 pin to power up?

No I havent. Its only the eatx12v_1 is the primary one. As long as you plug it there board should work. But I guess even the 4pin eatx_2 would work.

any recommendations for a after-market heatsink to replace the Coolermaster that came along with the tin box? During idle it's whisper quiet but when playing demanding games ala FarCry3, it will be noisy.

thx Fx'ers for any response thumbup.gif

That depends on how much you willing to spend. Why not try Phanteks Thermal Solutions PH-TC14PE?

Anyone could suggest a RM400 below AMD CPU to pair with HD7850 ? Currently all suggest go with Intel 3220 which no overclocking feature.

Should I go with FX-4100 ? According to some review it will causes bottleneck to HD7850 unless overclock it.

8320 selling 559 !!!! better performance, idle temp are okay (i think 3220 have higher idle temp) But same with all amd is watt sucker! doh.gif doh.gif

4100 overclock to 4.8 is okay, but better buy a cooler.

They don't need to disable too much on FX 4xxx series CPU. It won't be a viable upgrade for anyone on Phenom II. They still don't reach here though, both the FX 6300 and FX 4300.

Bottleneck always occur in any system, thing is whether it is big or small.

FX-4100 would be good, heck even my Phenom II X4 runs great with HD 7850. Its just people underestimate AMD CPU just because it eats more power than Intel CPU and they better at benchmarks, it doesn't mean it wasn't fast, its just not as fast that's all. But on the upside AMD could do overclocking, and a lot more fun with tweaking. Plus it it is supported for future CPU revisions. Going LGA1155 means pretty much buying a soon-to-be replaced with Haswell on LGA1150.

If you wanted to, you could opt for AMD A8 5600K FM2 with Gigabyte GA-F2A85XM-D3H for RM 429 and RM299 respectively.
