the review show A10 better than FX-8150, if overall are true, meant confirm beat intel i5 quad core. then I can jump ship once both A10 and FM2 A85 mb available here.

Nope. Piledriver cores (A10) are better than Bulldozer cores (FX-8150), it will only mean that it will only match up to Stars in terms of performance. Stars performance isn't exactly competitive either compared to Intel's Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge. Simply put, in terms of single threaded performance;

Sandy Bridge/Ivy Bridge > Stars >= Piledriver > Bulldozer

It's not a fail product by a long shot. It's just there is several things that put in Intel favor, one being Intel compiler crippling AMD CPU when it detects one, and Bulldozer architecture are geared toward multi threading (workstation performance) while most software, including games, favors high IPC. Bulldozer is just a base for things to come from AMD, which to fuse GPU and CPU, the current APU is not the final product because it's not fully assist CPU in some task.

Intel got one advantages over AMD which is finer manufacturing process, but it too have limits. Look at Ivy Bridge, which it supposed to give better performance than SandyBridge but in fact only a few percent faster and runs hotter as well, even with IHS removed.

i think the writer was referring to the same ES Bulldozer C0 chip, which coolaler claimed as a Piledriver ES.

The problem is that chip doesn't even replicate the performance of Trinity, so I don't think it is a real Vishera (Piledriver) at all, instead is a minor improved Zambezi (Bulldozer).

AMD would probably skip the real Piledriver altogether and just prepare for Steamroller in APU form.

Hello there, im a AMD fanboy since Athlon. At first, it is owkay.. until the core-i product released. Ive been updating at least every one or one and a half year. Always go for the high end (still cheaper than the intel's), and end up getting half the power of the intel's range. Until i've changed it to Phenom X6, it manage to breath even on multiple heavy programs, great gaming experience too. But when it comes to serious business, regular AMD doesn't fit for the job. With X6, I manage to run at least 3 3D programs (heavily polygonized) at once while suffocating other programs like internet browser, and sometimes the videos. And the i-5 1st generation can run triple the workload without sacrificing the minor software. And now, the 2nd generation of i-5 can run the heavily loaded programs a lot faster than the 1st generation i-5(same program and usage). Imagine if it's a i-7.

All i want to say is, AMD did came out with spider, dragon, bulldozer etc, promoting too many promises over their processor and chipset. They are not cheating, what they advertise is true such as smoother gaming experience, multitask, and good video rendering. But to gamble a cheap setup for a business, its not a good choice. AMD is good, but not as good as what intel has to offer. To trust a FX (rumored to be the first of everything) to compete the i-7, it will came close, but when the load is multiplied, AMD will suffer.

At the end of the day, we are our own choice. \\Value/Performace//. Just to share experience, not to justify. PEACE~~~

i wanna ask all of amd cpu owners, how fast or does AMD's cpu price drop in Malaysia (not after 2~3 years or for used cpus)?

AMD's cpu price already dropped in the US. when is Malaysia's turn?

Quoted from cpubenchmark.net, Phenom II X4 955 BE costs RM 450 (USD 145) last year, so AMD Malaysia did not charge extra (Its an older product so its expected).

shocking.gif shakehead.gif Price Trend in Malaysia VS

Edit: Price Trend in the US (The prices stated below are the retail prices recommended by AMD)

maybe only their Bulldozer FX CPUs (FX8150 & FX8120, e.g.

FX8150 :

Launch Date : Oct 2011 --> Price Cut Date, August 27, 2012
RM760 (USD 245) --> new US price RM568 (USD 183)

while FX8120 is

Launch Date : Oct 2011 --> Price Cut Date, August 27, 2012
RM636 (USD 205)) --> new US price RM475 (USD 153)

and Llano APUs are affected (A8 & A6, e.g.

A8-3870k price in Malaysia is also stuck at launch price:

Launch Date : Dec 2011 --> Price Cut Date, August 27, 2012
RM419 (USD 135) --> new US price RM314 (USD 101)

while A6-3670k lauch price is

Launch Date : Dec 2011 --> Price Cut Date, August 27, 2012
RM357 (USD 115)) --> new US price 248 (USD 80)

All of the cpus listed don't have favorable price cuts in Malaysia yet. Its almost one year, maybe AMD Malaysia thought Malaysians don't check the Internet for international prices or our market is too small.. I believe its the latter.

Edit: If AMD Malaysia wish to retain current price, let them keep them. Let us all shift to FM2, AMD APU and FX Pile Driver CPU instead and see how AMD Malaysia plans to do with their precious chips whistling.gif unless AMD manage to consume their stock in the US and if they have surplus stocks (especially Llano chips - there are more processors than motherboards avalable), we might get the same price cuts here in Malaysia biggrin.gif .

FM2 launch delay might due to old model over stock. I guess AMD want to clear stock before launch FM2? could it be AMD Malaysia did not have over stock issue but only US? I hope when the time launch FM2 in Oct this year, AMD Malaysia are also align with WW launch date but not further postpone in Malaysia.
