Just get a Phenom II & overclock the hell out of it if your MOBO cannot support FX chip.

A little enhancement on the original Bulldozer chip to make it more efficient.

any news of the new windows update for hot fix for AMD bulldozer chipset? I mean re-release, as the previous update was pulled back by Microsoft. sad.gif

Any way, Pile Driver is the next model to come right? When? T_T

Oh, Microsoft said the update is scheduled in January next year.
Piledriver will be the next generation processor core architecture. smile.gif
The first to use the architecture is APU.
High end models, FX series is in Q3 2012.

As what xbitlabs reviewed about amd fx-4100 cpu,

"max turbo boost mode" will increased the clock speed to 3.8 Ghz.

My question is how to "turbo boost " the cpu ?

If only a single Bulldozer module is running, it will hit max turbo boost.

A10 will be based on dual module piledriver cores, or Quad cores going by AMD's book.

Can't wait to see benchmark against i3 ivy

i was looking at the reviews for my brother's low end pc (its been months since i caught up with the recent release of the new FX series by AMD)
by god i was astonished to see how the FX is hammered by its own atuk, the phenom II X6

i still own the legendary Athlon FX-60 and still running perfectly and can play modern games (although the pcie 1.0 can only run cards up to HD 4xxx series only) at high or almost maximum settings

what is going on with AMD? the FX is supposed to bring back AMD on the podium for high end CPUs..sigh

1) Windows 7 scheduler sucks on Bulldozer. See benchmarks on Win7 vs those on Linux and the Win8 preview.
2) Lower IPCPC compared to Bulldozer. The design was supposed to allow higher clockspeeds to compensate for that but they failed to meet that target.
3) Like how SB-E is versus normal SB in terms of performance vs power, Bulldozer has weaker energy efficiency at peak versus SB due to the big chip.

If bulldozer have much better energy efficiency while have this performance which still lack behind SB, i will still buy it.

I dunno about you guys, but energy efficiency top my priority in choosing any PC parts already. Seems like the green campaign does have its effect.
