Oh yea i remember now N82 and N79 have it too. For n97 its one of the first in touchscreen class

On the nokia N900 that feature improved alot. The phone anywhere in the car it will work. When i tried N97 i need put near antenna.
If my memory serves me right 5809XM do not have a transmitter only receiver right?

i never tried N79 before or N82. But i know N97 FM transmitter is bad. But its a good feature sometimes while travelling ill hook my N900 to the car holder and transmit the audio to the speaker and use the phone screen as TV to watch movie. Can become handsfree too

Alot of people never experience before Nokia n900. If you spoke to members like Eiraku , Andy they can tell how capable it is.
N900 is not a goodlike phone its just running on linux so u have freedom to do just with anything u want.

with the virtual ram it makes life much more easier.

Even N8 wont able to replace N900 browser due to the phone screen resolution.

Thats the point . On nokia n900 u dont need to scroll left or right. True its annoying on small screen but it makes a difference

For those that confuse with ram here some explaination.

There are total 5 type of memory
1) Sd Memory
2) Nand Memory
3) ROM Memory
4) Internal memory (eMMC)
5) External Memory Card


Nokia N900
It not only has 256 MB of operating memory (SDRAM) but also 768 MB of NAND-based virtual memory (swap), making it 1 Gigabyte in total.

Older symbian phones
Lack of NAND memory thats why you keep getting low memory issue

Nokia N8
NAND Memory 512MB
SDRAM Memory 256MB

Nokia N8 isnt that bad either for 512MB ram so practically low ram issue will appear less compare to previous symbian models.

Nokia N900
Roofts Memory 2GB
NAND Memory 768MB
SDRAM Memory 256MB

That what makes N900 a multitasker due to the ram.

NOR Flash

NAND Flash is treated as a block-based disk, rather than randomly addressable memory. Unlike NOR, it does not have any address lines, so cannot appear in the memory map. This means that code cannot execute directly from NAND and it has to be copied into RAM first. This results in the need for extra RAM in a NAND phone compared to a similar NOR device. NAND Flash writes are about 10 times faster than those on NOR Flash. A phone cannot boot directly from NAND. The process is more complex, requiring a set of boot loaders that build upon each other, finally resulting in a few megabytes of core Symbian OS image, the ROM, being loaded into RAM, where it will execute. NAND is also inherently less reliable than NOR. The lower price of NAND compared to NOR makes it attractive for mass-market phone projects, even after taking into account the extra RAM required.

For symbian ^1 nokia phones the ram is too low that causes low ram issue.

dont see da point. My point is ppl confuse of all the rams meaning. I just share with ppl the meaning so they understand thats all.
