Hmm... my last thread wat at V6. Knowing that i've missed out like the new (at last ) ) sticker, new members, new problems, more poisons (i know this thread won't be that happening without poisons from u guys. right Bos-man?! ), I skipped and jump to V8 (Proton CPS Tribe® now eh.!!) for seeking help and guide for our beloved ride.

yes.. me to had the brake light and ABS lighting up which crippled the function that we loved so much. From my findings the heat inside the engine bays caused the dreaded malfuction. and most of the problem arose after/around 2 years of ownership (some might be sooner). I myself are waiting for a replacement claiming through the EWP.

At first the problem is like come and go. action of turned off and then restart will fix it. later-later it become worst, became more sensitive. and immediately i went to proton to check. a list of problem detected by sensors inside the ABS module (the black box where brake pipes comes in and out of it). the technician agreed that it's the module malfuntion and need to be replaced. I asked how much if using own money to buy and he quoted around RM 5000. Wah !! well.. one month passed and still waiting for the replacement. dealing with the insurance like this la. macam-macam hal You guys know right EWP is claiming the insurance first then if all ok and gets approved baru tukar barang. sparepart takde hal just the insurance je yang lambat. Haih!!! So anyone with the problem with the ABS faster go for replacement, don't wait man.

that's one lah. another one i wanna ask is for changing the timing belt. Tomorrow my appointment for service. they quoted me around RM 900 for timing belt replacement. aiyoh... Do the FEAD belt need to be changed as well? or is it included in the package? there goes my duit bantuan raya....

Proton Extended Warranty Programme (EWP) is in effect when your cars mileage reached 50,001 KM or the Inception Date (can be found in the EWP certificate) which ever comes first. If not yet reached the mileage or the date then you can claim directly at proton and that would be faster (as no insurance claim need to be made). 2 main rules to claim under EWP (standard warranty also the same lah ) are

1. Follow the service schedule at any proton authorized service centers. They will make notes in the booklet and also stamp it with the respective center's chop.

2. No after market modification towards the car mainly the engine and any part associated with the claim. If got orang dalam then another story lah kan . Tukar rim bole la but if they wanna make it as an issue can 'kena' also, nasib lah... also unless ada itu "seluar dalam" lah

Details like parts warranted or not warranted are written behind the EWP certificate. Check it out! most importantly don't lose it. Hilang kalu susah mau cerita lah.

yes man! the price was Bo*t*t one (puasa la weh!! ) ABS module some one got quoted RM4600 also.

eastwest fast fast claim your new ABS module!! anyone who got the lights up (emergency + ABS lights) go claim your new ABS module. They said no need to worry la still can brake, but would you like an ordinary brake when yours should be equip with ABS. ABS saves me a lot of times from precarious moments. you want "Shreeeeek!!!!! Bam!!" or "<elegantly controlled>Whoa!! That was close!!"?

Punya susah claim sampai sekarang aku belum dapat lagi nih!! SC said "Tungguuu...!! belum approve lagi la..."

with all the figures increasing fast (PDRM's ops sikap) making my heart beating fast when thinking of going back kampung. Sepang-Pontian-Sepang-Pasir Putih.

Right guys. I know most of the otai's ride here are starting to/already have the ABS problem. don't fret. ramai-ramai go to favourite SC and claim for warranty. I for one is at fault for not returning them a call ASAP (and continuously) regarding my warranty process. very2 busy and taking them for granted that they will do the necessaries to fulfill the claim.

rydeck, no need to worry. you follow their rules already. expiry date are 5 years after the purchase or 175,000 km whichever comes first. Go claim!! fast and b*tch about how the issue was not properly handled/solved . Buat orang susah aja. altogether now.

I go to Bukit Maluri, SC in Kepong. although only abs lights up that qualified to be checked. maybe sensors, maybe loose cable/plug. Using PDT connected wirelessly to diagnostic computer will tell more.

i'm at the SC right now doing 90K service. already reached 90665km. Gonna burn hole in my pocket for changing timing belt. waiting to be entertained now.

yeah, TripleJ104. i also thinking of the same thing. protect it using heat shield. it seems the black box's heat insulation inside doesn't provide good heat resistance for circuit inside. being black in color summore.

Oh yeah.. yesterday my car finish late at 5 pm. i had to rush to Cyberjaya to fetch my wife there. tak sempat nak posting. jalan sebelum nak masuk MEX (exit kuchai lama) dah jem. Entering MEX then smooth ride. For the service done, i had to surrender about RM 920 not including engine oil (bring my own). kopak!!!

started working today. hehe.. wow thread long already. wah! poisoning after raya ka guys?

okay. here's the rundown of my timing belt replacement:

The belt = 123.03
The tensioner bearing = 139.38
Cam oil seal (each) = 29.24
Crank oil seal = 47.98
FEAD belt = 69.54
labor = 102.00

how much is that humm... RM 540.41 well okay so far.

then, plus..
all 4 brake pads + labor almost RM 170 (had to changed, almost touching the brake worn out sensor!)
and a water pump as it was leaking making another RM 190 flown from my pocket, a clip also replaced (for rubber hose from bottom of radiator to engine) after coolant leaking detected. [me think the water pump no need to be replaced as the leaking is at the rubber seal which can be rectified by adding silicon gap filler/seal to the surface. that is what they did with new pump anyway to top off the rubber seal] .
Other standard items changed are oil filter + washer and a bottle of 1 ltr radiator coolant. nasib baik ada joined daring club ada la diskaun sket if not more than RM 1K kena. diskaun dalam RM 100

That made me a poor man for the raya and there goes my raya mood.

after considering the budget and the hardship to endure driving to east coast i had to abandon the trip there. well also need to consider my baby girl as she fell ill (kena batuk dan selsema lah. pun ada demam sedikit biasa la, kasihan...)


huhuhu.. yeah!! add another RM 130 for engine oil. kopak man!!


hey.. then I got bonus la man. my battery still kicking till now . but after i said this then dunno lah when/how fast it'll died out (langgar pantang for mentioning/saying/bragging ) .

Haha.. still on the ABS thinggy eh rydeck . Okay, here's my updates:
I called SC (me calling SC not the other way around ), and they told me the insurance got approved last week and now waiting for the sparepart. later if they got, they will call me ( ) to come and fixed it. so the waiting game is still on for me ler . I'll sure update here if anything comes up.

my gear and clutch still smooth .
