QUOTE(magpie2000 @ Aug 25 2010, 09:23 AM) My Gen2 seems to be giving me problems. After I turn right, my steering wheel does not center anymore but turns 10degrees to the right in a straight line. However, after I make a left turn, the steering wheel centres in a straight line. What could be the problem? Something need to tighten? this could be the steering arm bushing worn out... just replaced mine few weeks back... |
Indeed the bushing worn out. Can get it replaced for free under warranty, or you can ask your mech to add some rubber to it. This will last longer than replacing with oem. Or you can buy aftermarket one if there's any. wah! how much roughly is a new oem steering arm bushing? if change the bushing, need to replace any other parts also? Please advise. Thanks in advance to all the sifus out there...
proton SC sometimes didnt replace... mine was "improved" by putting on a short strip of timing belt on the bushing itself... the ppl at my tyre place said its common for proton SC to do that... i replaced the rubber with polyurethane material... under hundred if not mistaken... the workmanship will be abit costly due to the location... |

QUOTE(magpie2000 @ Aug 26 2010, 03:51 PM) under RM100 is material and labour or material only? how much longer will the polyurethane material last over the oem or rubber type? OEM is rubber??? under rm100 material onli... OEM is rubber... polyurethane for sure will last longer... one way to see whether the bushing is worn out is to check by completely turn one side then to the other side... have a fren help u to turn the steering... if u see the clamp of the bushing sliding as the steering is turning, means the bushing has worn out... |
