Look for thermal management, EIST and C1E function within the bios and disable all these.

Then start to lower multi to x8 and up the cpu frequency (usually between 200/266/333) to higher value. Best way to enjoice high fsb and good proc speed.

Use good cpu cooler and ensure sufficient airflow within casing to cool mobo chips and also other power components. Good branded psu should b sufficient.

As what i know and tested, most Core2 series runs faster with higher fsb for games. For surfing and others, its just pure proc speed and mem speed.

Most Core2 series are capable of FSB 1600 (400mhz). Majority of the E0 can hit higher with better cooling options. Had tried E6600 at FSB 2000. Awesome in games, although speed of proc was only 3.5ghz (500 x 7).

Use coretemp is one of the best for Core2 series proc. HWmonitor sometimes a little more accurate, but depends very much on mobo chips to transfer the data to ur screen.

From my experience, these are more of the better procs for oc results:

Q6-series,
E6-series,
E7-series,
E8-series,
Q9x50-series,

And of coz the QX9650.

For the less oc-able type of proc, i think are these:

E4-series,
Q8-series,
QX6800 (very hot and doesn't make it easy for u to reach 4ghz)

I'm not too sure about the Q9400, Q9300 and Q9505.

Have tried Pentium dual Core and E2-series and E5-series are quite oc-able too. Didn't touch the E6-series though.

QUOTE(Boldnut @ Jun 30 2012, 11:15 PM)
Pentium dual core E6000 series are the same thing with E5000 except the FSB is higher @ 1066 and multiplier is lower. Overclockability will be limit by FSB + lower multi.
it is rumor that some E5000 have trouble hitting 333FSB cap at ~300. (most probably the ealier version of E5000, E6000 should be easier on higher FSB.

mine E5800 can hit 333 without issue tho.  tongue.gif

Try 400 and reduce the multi to x8. U'll enjoy more at 1600fsb. icon_rolleyes.gif
