Man City is Chelsea v2 & Man Utd is Liverpool v2 for me. I mean don't get me wrong yet. Rather than which club wins EPL, I'm more interested in which business model wins EPL.

So far, Chelsea is enjoying the fruits from owner's support since 2003 and now Man City is joining in with the same formula. Liverpool and Man Utd is stuck with their owner's leveraged debts and Arsenal's has just got their new stadium debt sorted out nicely.

I'll like to see how the different business model compete and their results. That's how I actually see the horse race. Different from you guys probably but that's how I see things.

I'll say Man City replaces Liverpool as the Big 4 component this season. Chelsea, Man United, Arsenal & Man City.

In general, none of Chelsea, MU or Arsenal lost influential parts from their previous season. So, they are as strong as always. I'm not sure about Chelsea, but MU and Arsenal bought a few solid players to their squad. Man City's continuous buying spree, even by blindly picking players up, add tremendous squad depth.

The rest of the lots are improving but I don't fancy them going to CL.

hmm .. agreed with this one . and spurs might be the dark horse to get into top 4 .

The thing I am or I will be curious about is how Spurs will handle European football. We remember how Aston Villa's season was derailed by progressing far into the UEFA Cup and how elimination in that competition drained them for the remainder of the season. While Spurs have genuine depth, it would still be interesting to see how they cope with CL.

Which business model? So much more to that when you want to win things, sometimes with too much money on your hands, you may get players that do not mix with the current squad and vice versa. Also, sometimes some managers will not spend over the odds even if they have the money to spend, thus simplification to just 2 business models will not be wholly accurate.

RA may have brought his millions to Chelsea but they only conquered the league for 2 seasons, and the season just passed. Jack Walker only got 1 league win with his millions splashed on Blackburn, so it's not really just the money, but how you use the money as well.

RA first season cash splashing no trophy at all..Mourinho bring two EPL..after that...Carlo bring one more..

Look at Real Madrid..spend big on the second wave of Galactico..still nothing..maybe Mourinho come to bring the title but..after this people will tend to say RM win because of cash..same situation with RA first and second years in charge..

Business model...Heheh. Really worked well for Leeds and David O'Leary now didn't it??

Money helps, but it guarantees feck all these days. Real Madrid of course being the prime example or Citeh these past few seasons. Valencia was a very successful club with little money. As was Nottingham Forest back in the days. Hell, even Le Arse hasn't really splurge that much money during the times when they was our main challengers for the title.

As usual it will be 2 horse race between Man Utd and Chelsea or maybe Man City if Mancini can get the squad right.

People that think Spurs / Arsenal / Liverpool can win it or even say Liverpool will finish below 10th place is just bias toward their team cool2.gif

hm, this is my prediction:

1)Chelsea - The team have been together for quite long and the chemistry is there. Furthermore, the depth of the squad is quite good. Chelsea got the man to cover every position in the team except one, the goal keeper. An injury to their GK will cause them to struggle

2)Man Utd - The addition of Hernandez to the team add a new dimension to their line-ups. The chemistry between the team member is also very good. But from my point of view as a Chelsea fans, they should not rely too much on Rooney. The lad is very good but he is not a machine. Somehow, I see improvement in Berbatov style of play. The progres of the team also relies on their trio of unpredictable player, Nani-Valencia-Carrick. If these three guys perform really well, then Man Utd willl mount a really serious challenge to the defending champion.

3)Man City - The talent is there. Main concern is how Mancini going to keep his star player happy, especially Balotelli. They should realize when any of the star is not happy, it can disrupt the morale of the entire team.

4)Spurs - No comment on spurs hehe their midfielders is awesome. If Bale and Modric can stay injury free then they will be among the top four. And stop clowning with the lesser opponent!!

5)Arsenal - A team that is full with the power of youth is indeed very good. But you also need a careful blend of experience to guide and to hold the team together in time of need. Surely it is a bless to see your 'little mozart' up and running again and hopefully he stays injury free. Pray hard that Almunia will not become a part time clown in between the posts.

6)Liverpool
7)Aston Villa
8)Everton

I'm sleepy already zzzz

I've seen changes in the side of United. Midfields are taking the initiative to go forward and score goals. Probably because they felt they had to fill the void left by Rooney and this could probably help the United's side against Chelsea when they meet because Chelsea would not want to have two or three guys marked with Rooney because that would open up for midfields

Chelsea is a good side but we would have to wait till they have their first real test.

City is a big team, too big in my opinion. The fact that the team is filled with superstars and only 11 players can start at a time, it would be interesting to see how Mancini cope with it.

Arsenal just have to be strong defensively. Almunia is going to be a liability for them to win the title.

Spurs, i dont think they can cope with both Champions League and Premier League. I mean, they are still not experienced with it. Maybe they would fall down in that department and allow Liverpoola n City the chance to overtake them.

Overall, its all trials and errors IMO, it will have to wait till mid season before we can forsee the real contenders of the title.

United
Chelsea
City
Arsenal
Liverpool
Spurs

ive to admit im big Man Utd fan but ill try to give my fair opinion..

Chelsea>
strength: best squad, best team, experienced players, great manager.
weakness: inexperience youngster /squad players
United>
strength: best squad on par of Chelsea, experienced players, great manager (greatest of all)
weakness: lack of world class performer esp midfielder, tight budget, no significant addition, over dependent on old guards and Rooney
Arsenal>
strength: stylish team, great manager, youthfulness
weakness: inexperience youngster, lack of squad depth, no leader in team, weak defense/GK
Spurs>
strength: good squad, good manager
weakness: CL distraction, no world class player
Man City>
strength: unlimited fund, good squad, good manager.
weakness: need time to gel, unhappy /unsettle players, weak defense, Mancini will field various experimental team /tactic
Liverpool>
strength: great individuals, good manager, no CL (they can choose weaker team in Europa League)
weakness: tight budget, lack of squad depth
The rest>
Villa will be weaker and finish worse than last season. Everton will be dark horse, beating top 4 team but still lose to lower team.

my prediction: will be tight title race, 4 horse race (or 5) in January but only Chelsea and United will stay in contention by April.
1>Chelsea
2>United
3>Man City
4>Arsenal
5>Liverpool
6>Spurs

relegate
>WBA, Blackpool, Wigan

of course i want my prediction goes wrong. i want United to win it flex.gif , Man City and Liverpool getting nowhere near Top 4, and Newcastle relegate again..

Just curious to know why you dislike Newcastle? I actually have a soft spot for them and West Ham. Great bunch of fans they have.

maybe im quite old.. sort of old rivalry in 90s..

normally younger United fans these days 'hate' Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea.. some even root for Man City to overtake that 3 teams in top 4.

i just cant stand Liverpool, Man City, Leeds and Newcastle.. my 'hatred level' in that order..

ive soft spot for West Ham and Spurs.. and all teams manage by former United players.

regarding someone who posted that the Chelsea squad is thin and without depth on the bench after 4 experienced players have left is wrong from what i can see. last weekends 6-0 win over wigan shows that kalou and benny who was on Chelsea's bench can definitely cause problems. with the addition of ramires and essien(yes this is an addition), i dont see the squad being thin in terms of depth on the bench.

1. Chelsea
2. Man Utd
3. Arsenal
4. Man City

the reason for united being second is, they always get there no matter how thin their squad is(last season's huge amount of injury). i dont think hernandez will make a big impact in his first season but definitely a dangerous player from what i can see in the community shield.

man city is going to have loads of bumps along with road with so many new players. they are not going to gel fast enough to finish anywhere near first place this season. but with their huge spendings this season and mancini controlling things from the start, they will definitely finish at a higher position than last season.

arsenal might look light weight but once they start winning, their string of wins is quite long.

I can attest to rivalries in the 90's myself. Well we did pretty well against Newcastle back then especially in that game that some still rate as the best Premiership game ever. Since I do somewhat like Newcastle and have great respect for their fanatical supporters, I won't mention which game smile.gif

I can understand the obvious animosity between Liverpool and Man Utd given the number of fans both clubs have here. Both clubs are only an hours drive apart so it's no surprise things are pretty much the same over there.

I think we only differ when it comes to reasons we have soft spots for other clubs. I've already mentioned why I like West Ham and Newcastle. I think they have top fans. Aside from Man Utd though, I don't really hate any club. I can think that one reason people dislike Leeds is because of David O'Leary. I kinda watched a fair bit of their games back in the day stretching back to when Tony Yeboah hit that wonder strike against us. Oh I've almost forgotten about Millwall. Their fans are nutters, looking for a fight. Can't imagine why anyone would want to go to the Den. The last time we played them there, they provoked our fans by making fun of the Scouse engineer (? can't remember) who got beheaded by terrorists. Prior to that visit, they chanted, "you should have died there too", to our visiting supporters in reference to Hillsbrough. They have also churned out cunts like Tim Cahill, Dennis Wise and Lucas Neill.

Anyway, I digress. I suspect Newcastle will have a better season than West Ham. I think they'll be fighting relegation all season along the likes of Wigan, WBA, Wolves, Blackpool and Stoke.

i think Newcastle are strong enough to avoid relegation comfortably. they have numbers experienced internationals in their squad. Sunderland vs Newcastle will be exciting matches to watch this season..

besides WBA, Blackpool, Wigan as my relegation candidates, i think West Ham will be struggle under Grant..

I've worded it wrongly. I mean to suggest that West Ham will be fighting relegation along the likes I mentioned earlier. Posted earlier that I think Newcastle will make the top 8.

West Ham might struggle this season, because of Avram Grant. To me, he just not experience enough to handle a club like West Ham. Of course I hope he can prove me wrong. As for Newcastle, I'd reckon they won't relegated, but won't make it to top 6 either. 8th - 14th is more of a spot they "deserves" to be in. As for top 4; My guess will be exactly like last season.
