astro byond is using dvb-s2 requiring satellite dish
m9 is using dvb-T requiring fish bone UHF antenna to receive terrestrial digital TV signal

they are using different system, so m9 cannot record astro HD channel

to record HD content:

for blue ray, usually they use software to rip it

for DVD, they rip it then upscale

for TV show, they used RGB component video capture card + HDfury to record off the HD satellite TV decoder

I do not have the HD recorder, but based on the info from product website for example Hauppage HD PVR, it can record HD in these formats:
QUOTE
TS, which is a generic 'transport stream' compatible with many digital media players
.M2TS, which is compatible with the Sony Playstation3
.MP4, which is compatible with the XBox360

another HD capable capture device is Blackmagic Intensity Pro

I think I will drop by your office next Wednesday.
Before I forget,
You said can use ext. or int HDD.
But is there any difference using int. HDD or ext. HDD?

Many thanks in advance

external hard drive is usually using USB2 wire to connect, more portable, easier to connect, better heat dissipation, but transfer speed is slower

internal harddrive is connected using SATA, higher transfer speed when comparing to USB2

there is ESATA, can enjoy both benefits of internal and external harddrive

so realtek 1185 is not a replacement chip for 1283, av recording function is taken away from 1185

however based on manufacturer's webpage, 1185 can indeed record digital TV

No, I didn't mean plug RCA output to TV from player.  What I want is to connect PC speaker to TV audio output port (RCA), so that when I play M7, the sound can output from the PC speaker (or simultaneously) instead of lausy TV speaker. But I heard someone said that if the player output audio to TV through hdmi, then the sound won't come out from the PC speaker if it is connected as what I mentioned just now, as the hdmi is digital and RCA is analog, is this correct? If it is, then what should I do to have the sound output to PC speaker while using hdmi to connect player and TV?
*
yes can use tv's audio out to pc speaker

you can even use alalog audio out directly from media player to pc speaker
