Hey guys,

i just bought this laptop in lowyat.

I am having a small problem, when i play css my fps is fine at the start however after about 5 mins of playing the fps starts to fall lower and lower until like 20 fps then everything becomes choppy. is the gpu overheating.

btw i am playing most settings on high.

any ideas?

have you:

a) updated the nvidia graphic driver?
b) upgrade memory to 4GB
c) follow the tutorial in the first page
*
Yes to all your question above.

THe fps seems to gradually get less and less each round i play online. this does not make sense/ is the gpu faulty?

I heard people have this problem before. THe other thing u can try is to make sure the temperature of GPU/CPU
is not too high by playing in air cond room.

Another thing is disable antivirus or other software that might hog your system resources.

I scared its ur game that is not updated.

Also you can try to disable VSync in the first page (scroll down to below).
*
I am currently playing in an aircon room. Imusing AVG antivirus.

Vsync is disabled.
Ill check GPU temps.

Another thing is, have you tried to play offline with bots? just to rule out network issue
*
actually yes i tried this as well. fps was not too bad. when i firs play its at 100 then deteriorates to 50 or 60.

im not sure, i seriously a bit disappointed right now sad.gif

Try use GPU-Z and log to file, then when it start lagging, check the log if its GPU clock being throttled or not...
*
ok so GPU load goes from 652, right down to 1 and then averages around 30%.

is this normal?

ok guys, so i downloaded the new nvidia drivers 258.96 and installed 3 games;

Counterstrike Source
Live For Speed
Mirrors Edge

CSS - when i play multiplayer (OMG server with max 36 people) my fps starts off high, around 100 fps, after about 15-20 mins of playing my fps falls to like 17 fps where it becomes very choppy

LFS - no problems with this game watsoever

Mirrors edge - Majority of the fps is good, like around 62 but then there are times when the fps sudden drops to 11 fps and its very hard to play.

All games i have tried dedicating the 335m as gpu and also i tried the auto select. I also turn vsync off on all games.

Check my CPU and GPU temps etc and dont notice anything out of the ordinary.

I have also recovered the system and still have the same effects. its almost as if im running on 335m and then suddenly it switches to the intel hd gpu and the fps falls. I dont know if this is a hardware issue or a software issue right now.

Fairly frustrated cause i bought this laptop to work and have a bit of fun, didnt think it would be so much hassle.

Wondering if anyone has any ideas on what i could do.

Thanks.

well i did a few logs and found that both hardware devices are running with no problem i.e GPU speed and CPU speed are constantly running at max and there is no slow down.

Iam just wondering how all of you are playing games? is everything running smoothly? mind letting me know what games you are all playing?

can you please explain what this means? my temps are within range even on full load im hitting max 74C.

Well I'm not 100% sure, but I have a feeling that once it reaches a certain temperate of stress load (way below it's intended limit) the GPU throttles itself down.

Have you monitored GPU activity with MSI Afterburner?
*
ok below is the screenshot of my gpu activity whilst playing mirror edge. you can see GPU usage decreasing, where the GPU hit zero is where the game crashes, for some strange reason it crashes on me but sound and everything is still going. Hopefully this can help you see whats happening. GPU clock and temps look ok thus far. Do let me know your thoughts, anyone else please chime in. Thanks.

seems like the temperature increased and your GPU reduce the load to keep it cooler.  Seems like u have heat problem
he is questioning other person. Not you. Hahaha.
*
what do you suggest if its a hardware heat problem? should i send it back to asus for them to assess the problem? they seem to believe its a software issue rather than a hardware issue.
