QUOTE(eugenechiuu @ Nov 15 2010, 09:55 AM) Hey Astria, how great was ur performance increase after upgrading to Momentus XT? I might wanna upgrade to it in the future... well, dun expect magic from it, like sudden performance boost straight after changing to it...the drive still needs to learn the how u use the files so that it stores wat's needed the most in the SSD to boost the performance... thus it works best to speed up daily tasks, such as booting into Windows, starting up Chrome right after login, launching a game, firing up Outlook, etc... if say, ur laptop mainly deals with large Photoshop/video editing files, and u want performance boost, ur best bet is still SSD plus lots of RAM, no doubt... Momentus XT works great by accelerating the daily small tasks that many ppl would ignore, and that's wat make using a computer a much more enjoyable experience... |

It seems that it's not that worthed after all lol.. I read reviews it's more power consuming since the main portion is a 7200rpm hdd right?the drive still needs to learn the how u use the files so that it stores wat's needed the most in the SSD to boost the performance... thus it works best to speed up daily tasks, such as booting into Windows, starting up Chrome right after login, launching a game, firing up Outlook, etc... if say, ur laptop mainly deals with large Photoshop/video editing files, and u want performance boost, ur best bet is still SSD plus lots of RAM, no doubt... QUOTE(mimi89 @ Nov 16 2010, 06:52 AM) what's better in Ubuntu? I tried Ubuntu on another very old laptop and didn't really like it... Too much pseudo codes to learn and I think currently Windows7 on A42Jv is fast enough to do everything smoothly... |

How much did the battery life improved when using linux?I am using ubuntu coz i have 1 project need to run on linux system. QUOTE(dante10 @ Nov 16 2010, 06:07 PM) hey eugenechiuu...just want to ask...how is your cooler master u2 perform with a42jv...is it great?..im planning to buy one soon...can u give some temp reading with/without the cooler for your a42jv.. Erm, I must say I haven't really found a most effective spot I am guessing, idle temp are approximately the same... But probably would help a lot in heat dissipation when playing games... Normally I don't load the laptop with much programs when on Battery power, so I don't really know actually...edit* just tested lappie without cooler but on battery mode instead... I am on battery saving mode, idle is 50-51 same as with cooler when a/c plugged in lol... Anyways, got a question here guys, is it possible to prevent the power4gear battery saving mode to change to the ugly white asus wallpaper?
