It depends on how far is your room from the living room. It could go through a single or two walls and maybe 3 walls and it really depends on the distance. My experience is with the 2.4Ghz type and it is easily affected by interference like you would see "snow" noise if someone walk cross the transmission path. Worst still is when you turn on your microwave oven because they are operating in the same freq band with high power. Your WiFi could be in the same band as well. So if you intend to use this type of device, just prepared to accept the compromises.I saw a few device on the forum priced around RM200.
