Hi all, I just bought the Toshiba 32AV700, the entry level 32" LCD TV. I think it would be good to start this thread so that owners (or potential owners) can share information, tips, problems and solutions here. Owners of the Toshiba 40AV700 are also welcome since it is basically the same except for the bigger screen size. This is about the cheapest entry level 32" LCD among the branded ones.
After looking around, I bought mine at TBM, Cheras for RM1200 (self collect) for the convenience and you can get it at RM1199 at Desa Home Theatre and also at SS2 shops and probably elsewhere too so don't pay more than this (unless bundled with something extra). Cheers.

I'm actually considering between this TV or the Sony KLV-32BX300...

I cannot comment on the Sony since I don't have one. I think both have a RRP of RM1599 but I don't see the Sony discounted to RM1199 like the Toshiba. The major difference from what I know (apart from the price) is the Sony has built-in FM radio, 2 HDMI inputs while the Toshiba has 4 HDMI inputs (all at the back). Good if you have plenty of gears to connect up. Other connectivity and features may be more or less the same. From what I have seen in the shops, the Toshiba PQ has more subdued colours (more natural to some people) compared to other brands presumably at the default setting but I suppose this can be adjusted to your liking. All Toshiba TVs also come with a free one year all-risk insurance (on top of the 2 years normal warranty) that covers fire, theft, lightning and general accidents.
The best is for you to test both sets side by side at the shops if it is possible, or compare the specs to see if which one has the features important for you. Other owners of the Sony and Toshiba may want to add their comments here. Cheers.

i just bought a KLV-32EX300 yesterday for the hari raya promotion package bundled with DAV-TZ210 home theater @ RM1,999. So far i'm quite satisfied with the Bravia. I believe EX300 is identical to BX300 just with some
additional feature l;ike 4HDMI, ambient sensor etc. I'm using it to watch Astro and play some DVD normally.

My brother have a 32AV700E which is used for Wii only. I haven't have a chance to compared them side by side yet. I was thinking to buy either 32AV700E or LC32L400M before I saw the sony promotion.

My advice for u is go to the shop and test it yourself, don't listen to the salesperson. I found that most of the shop does not recommend Bravia, perhaps they get lower margin for selling Sony.

It would be good if you or your brother can share with us the pros and cons of each TV in comparision, especially for the Toshiba. My choice for the Toshiba is mainly the price since I reckon (rightly or wrongly) that the PQ for all the branded entry-level 32" LCD TVs should be more or less the same. A similarly price LCD TV I found was the LG LD310 but this has only 2 HDMI inputs so I opted for the Toshiba with 4 HDMI inputs.

for the picture quality i think its very subjective, personally i prefer sony Cinema scene. But one think I don't like about Toshiba is there's no AV input at the side and the USB port is at the back. I can't make the AV2 composite video to work as my bro misplaced the user manual. Forget to mention, my bravia has audio output of 2 x 10W RMS while the regza has only 2 x 5W.

One thing i like about the regza though is the 1st year all risk insurance.

Added on August 24, 2010, 9:23 amoh yeah, forget to ask for help if there's any 32AV700E user, how to configure the AV2 to accept composite video (RCA), i can get the video and audio signal but the picture its black and white, anything to configure? or i plug the wrong port?

I don't know if you can configure the AV2 to accept composite video as AV2 is meant for component video while AV1 is for composite video. Anyway, your bro can download the 32AV700E user manual at the Toshiba site here.. Ya, the Toshiba does not have inputs at the side as all inputs are at the back. I think most people will not really use the USB port since nowadays with a HD media player connected via HDMI, you can hook up any media easily.

Yea, AV2 is component only.

This is especially for new owners of the 32AV700 TV and may also be applicable to other Toshiba models. Every time you on the TV, the Quick Setup screen will appear and there appears to be no option to make it not appear the next time you on the TV. To get rid of this, you have to go through the auto tuning process (for off-air TV channels) and once this is completed, the Quick Setup screen will not appear again. Another point is to change the Location from Store to Home at the Quick Setup so that the Contrast and Brightness are not set at maximum to lengthen the life of your set. Hope this helps.

for picture wise,i will go for toshiba lcd tv 32AV700 as toshiba got more natural picture colour quality,more gradation of colours (10 bit video processing) ,and more vibrant sound performance.The only bad things about 32AV700 is the usb port only support JPEG formats..WTH

I was at Desa Home Theatre (Low Yat) on Sunday and saw the Toshiba 32AV700 selling at RM1049 so this seems to be the lowest price now unless others saw cheaper elsewhere. The LG330 is at RM1199 and they are side by side if you want to make any comparision.
