i m going to sit for my stpm end of tis year..science stream
seeking advice from ex stpmer especially is it veri hard to score a in science stream..

can anyone briefly tell me their stpm experience ..
is is veri hard to get A...
is the result ur get better than expected...or stpm has degrade like spm....??
the real result is better than trial????
veri easy to get A????

I thought the actual results are always better than the trial for all exams.

my school gt ppl get 2 A in trial...
real result end up 3.7++...

If you're smarter than everyone else, no.

If you've been consistently not as smart as everyone else, then yes.

Not everyone agrees with me, but STPM is a curved test, in other words, your grade depends on how you do compared to others.

If you see everyone in school scoring 40 and you always score 50, means you're gonna get A, since everyone, including you will not magically improve when STPM comes. Their raw scores is gonna remain 40 and yours 50, and thus you get the A since no one also get more than 50.

only manage to get A in pure maths.
other have to work hard.

That's how it rolls. STPM is difficult to study, but easy to get grades, provided you've done your absolute best.

True enough. For public exams, they normally use a bell curve/normal distribution graph to determine marks for grades and it changes every year. But I heard STPM is much stricter meaning the marks for grades don't fluctuate too much (year to year) and it's kept in check so as to maintain the standard of STPM.

In my opinion, most students have problems with Chemistry and Pure Maths and some neglect PA. PA is not a free A and you certainly can't get it if you just read the textbook.

Chemistry, like Pure Maths, the chances of getting a higher mark increases with the increase of exercises and practices you complete. So you are good for B and above if you have ;

1. Paid attention in class/to your teachers
2. Completed most of your homework
3. Studied at home and revised your lessons.

Oh yea. If you are taking Bio, it's quite difficult to get an A. I'm not sure as to why.

If you put your effort and learn it in a right way, you can get A.

Since you're already sitting for STPM later this year, does it make a difference in your ability if you were to know how easy/hard to score an A? It doesnt make a difference, really.

So what if it's easy to get an A, will you get ability boost by knowing that?
If it's hard then how? Will it de-motivate you to study?

Just focus and do your best =)

im in lower 6 this year...have problem with maths T.i even fail in my 1st test wad should i do??can give some advice??

If you are good enough to enter medic and engineering in IPTA, then getting A's is not an issue. Otherwise,you will struggle. Of course, if you're lucky to get some good and dedicated teachers, you will be half way there.

i din go 4 tiution 4 maths cuz its a chinese speaking...my chinese nt so gud n summore i dun hv transport can i juz depend on my own n do revision on my own even im poor nw??can i even improve...im scared nw!!

Get your teacher's help? Are they really that undependable? Or you can approach the tuition teacher and ask him/her whether he can conduct the class in a max of language so that you can understand?

i have come to the conclusion that stpm is not a very difficult exam.......

but it is made to appear tough, because the direct competing exam, the matrik, is significantly easier........

i think it is a bit tougher to get a's in stpm compared to a-levels, but many unis appear to view stpm as a lower exam than a-levels........they pitch a-level b as equivalent to stpm b+..........

^ not difficult, but not low standard either.

That grade distinction thing you mentioned does exist in UK universities, but the graphing in STPM did the dirty job already, so nothing to complain there

if really can't figure out yourself, always ask.

I will not admit stpm is hard.
If you study at the very beginning immediately, say, after spm in the january of next year, consistently until stpm exam month, then 5/4As shouln't be a problem.

It's just a pre-u, with some annoying flaws, what's the big deal?

TS, is all depends on you.
If you managed to do all the past year questions (on first try) without any problems, then A is for certain.

You just have to work hard. Trial exam is not always accurate in determine your real exam score. Just be practical.

Failing ur exam is very easy while having your trials.

But then... don't ever give up, just do your best.. and you managed to get at least B...... which will lead u to sc an and art courses..

However, if u aim for doc, sorry, u must score all As and try to apply to uni from west m'sia so that u can get doc easier..
