Mine not gpu failure more like thermal paste caked to extreme and gpu overheats coz asus designed my a8jr to have the copper pipes for cpu and gpu are shared. so both are spreading heat to each other which result in force shut down sometimes.
*
isn't that the common design for most laptops???

should be. I think so.
*
or maybe u reapply thermal compound on the CPU and GPU???

those on my Asus are nothing to shout abt (thermal blu-tak anyone? laugh.gif well, they look like blu-tak anyway)... there's significant improvement after i put in my own OCZ Freeze... nod.gif

I dun have disassembly guide for my A8JR. Tried to open up last friday but open the back but still haven't fully open the chasis. doh.gif
*
do u really need to open up till that point???

i merely remove the heatsink and the pipes only, juz enuf to reach for the CPU...

Here we go again. doh.gif

G73JH had that problem, but solved with BIOS flash.

I might as well get AW since im in Aus and dont have to worry about customs, if G73JW gonna have a lot of silly problems like G73JH initially.
*
well, i do see G73Jh selling for around AU$2.2k here...

True, hybrid HDD and EAX 4.0.

The only thing i dont really like is, i need to do the repasting myself.
*

I know it;s 133MHz, but will it be noticeable?

Maybe a couple of frames different? laugh.gif  laugh.gif

The reason that Gentech owns is because they can do the repasting for me,3 years international warranty and i get 133 MHz more. laugh.gif I dont get EAX4.0 and hybrid HDD,though. The bad thing if i get form Gentech is, i might get fined and lost RM1k to the damn customs.
*
nah... u won;t see any difference unless u re benchmarking...

anyway, imho 720QM is already good enuf... tried on my friend's Sager NP8690 before (with GTX 285M)... everything is butter smooth, except for loading windows (since i am using Momentus XT laugh.gif)...

Havent even paid a cent. sweat.gif

I just called them, and they suggest me that i place my order to pay and pickup at shop. Then, come to the shop and have a look at the unit tomorrow, only decide whether i want it or not.

I really hope it is not boiling hot again.

Shall i bring funmark in my USB?

Cheese: u may want to do a chkdsk to confirm???

i remember having the same problem with my old Momentus 7200.3 that came with the N81Vp, and also the Hitachi Travelstar that came with my old BenQ S41... chkdsk seems to able to isolate the problem as it reports of bad sector...

well, that's a real spoiler of the day if it's really ur case... sweat.gif
