QUOTE(riku2replica @ Oct 18 2010, 11:56 AM) Mine not gpu failure more like thermal paste caked to extreme and gpu overheats coz asus designed my a8jr to have the copper pipes for cpu and gpu are shared. so both are spreading heat to each other which result in force shut down sometimes. isn't that the common design for most laptops??? |

QUOTE(Cheesenium @ Oct 18 2010, 02:40 PM) Here we go again. well, i do see G73Jh selling for around AU$2.2k here...G73JH had that problem, but solved with BIOS flash. I might as well get AW since im in Aus and dont have to worry about customs, if G73JW gonna have a lot of silly problems like G73JH initially. |

QUOTE(Cheesenium @ Oct 18 2010, 03:08 PM) I know it;s 133MHz, but will it be noticeable? nah... u won;t see any difference unless u re benchmarking...Maybe a couple of frames different? The reason that Gentech owns is because they can do the repasting for me,3 years international warranty and i get 133 MHz more. anyway, imho 720QM is already good enuf... tried on my friend's Sager NP8690 before (with GTX 285M)... everything is butter smooth, except for loading windows (since i am using Momentus XT |

the main hard part is to figure out how to disassemble and reach the CPU... other than that it's pretty easy...

Cheese: u may want to do a chkdsk to confirm???
i remember having the same problem with my old Momentus 7200.3 that came with the N81Vp, and also the Hitachi Travelstar that came with my old BenQ S41... chkdsk seems to able to isolate the problem as it reports of bad sector... well, that's a real spoiler of the day if it's really ur case... |
