Hello there! Welcome to our thread.  biggrin.gif

For the TT prcedures, I'm not really familiar with it as I bought mine via PayPal. Nevertheless, I can tell you how is the procedures roughly.

I heard from other members that Maybank is the most ideal local bank to do the wire transfer. They will charge you some money for the transfer but I forgot how much. If I'm not mistaken, it will cost you around RM30. You must bear in mind that the bank at US wil charge you too, that is, 30 USD.

As for the freight forwarder, usually we assign USPS and it will cost you 149 USD. However, there are a member called Kaizoku who assigned DHL via comGateway as his freight forwarder because he claimed that the package will not be detained by local customs then.

If you assign USPS as your freight forwarder, there will be a possibility that your package will be detained at your local customs office.  smile.gif

Hope that's helpful for you! Cheers . . .  thumbup.gif

yups..i can confirmed that.. they even delivered it right to my doorstep..hehehe

You add the 30 USD to your notebook + shipping + local bank charge . . .  if I'm not mistaken . . . please double make sure with others . . . which version you plan to get?  brows.gif

the usd30(foreign bank charges)+shipping(should you choose USPS)+unit cost you will have to pay to Gentech Pc... PLUS another RM25 for Maybank TT charges..

New Catalyst driver is out. According to the Asus Tech Manager in the NBR forums, this update should fix the GSOD issue. I've just updated and will run some test. I will report here tomorrow after I try some GPU intensive games. For those who are adventurous, you can try the beta vBios from Asus from the link below:

Beta vBIOS update from ASUS

**WARNING**
Not for non technical people and this update will brick your GPU or laptop. If you are not sure what to do then do not attempt this at all. For those who have done vBIOS updates before please try it and report the results here. Thank You.

downloaded Catalyst 10.8 and installed, alas...still got the GSoD while playing Far Cry 2..huhuhu... but I still have the AMD GPU clock tool..soo it's still ok for me.. I'm afraid of flashing and installing the new vBios.. anybody tried the new vBios??

Could you report your temps when your GPU is under load. I've noticed the weather has been getting rather hot lately & my temps have risen about 10c since I first got the notebook. It used to idle around 54c but now it's idling around 64-70c. I smell a TIM re-paste coming  tongue.gif
*
my gpu temp under load is at 62~64 (after hours of playing games).... idling temp 55~63(approx)..temp taken without the use of my laptop cooler

I got those temps in the first three weeks of ownership. After about one month, the temps started to go up and now I'm idling around your loads and maxing around 80~90C. I think the original TIM is degrading and I need to repaste sad.gif

ok...mine is also coming into it's 2nd week...will update here if there's changes with my gpu temp after 1 month..

IMHO, the glossy surface around the MSi GX660R is killing me . . .  I hate to have those fingerprints magnet surface on my notebook . . .  laugh.gif

yeah..ur right.. but then again, with our G73 rubberize casing, though it's not a fingerprint magnet...it's a dust magnet..huhuhuhu...

I just carried out Furmark stability test on my G73... the gpu temp rises and rises to 103 degC till i put my laptop on a cooling pad, and temp drop and maintain at 97/98degC... current GPU idling temp is at 58~63degC(on top of cooling pad)

I think the threshold is 115~120 before the laptop shutdowns due to the thermal protection. I was idling at 66~68c on my cooler pad after a month of running the laptop. It used to be around 50~54 idle temps but I think this month is hotter compared to the previous month. However a spike of 10~12 degrees is impossible due to ambient temperatures and should be caused by the degradation of the stock TIM. Well after 7 hours of Furmark on ICD7 and my max temp is reported as 93C degrees at room temperature I'm extremely happy with the results  rclxm9.gif If you check the picture I posted earlier, I was running an overclock of 705/1100 and the temps were hovering around 90~94C  rclxms.gif

yup saw that... that's why i'm thinking of applying the Diamond paste (if you are still selling it) hehehe...
But I really dun have any experience on dismantling a laptop...a desktop is easy..but laptop?? huhuhuhu...
I hope jeffry can make a very good "How To" instructions based on the pictures and info you gave him... I hope he can make it as a PDF format..easier.. can just print it out and follow instructions.hehehehe

btw Viperion, u got pm

Price wise, G73JH is way more value but G53jw has its own benefit, like USB 3.0, 120hz Full HD LED display and SiBeam WiDi. The only downside of g53jw would be Asus default comes with single 500gb HDD, not dual 500gb HDD.
*
yups..but add another 500gb 7200rpm hdd and 4x blu-ray drive, the unit cost = usd1643... good price for an excellent setup.. rite??

Good price for 15" laptop and future-proof with WiDi and USB 3.0, though the 120hz 3D Full HD LED display might be unavailable though. Plus, they didn't mention additional package for 3d vision. Still, it'd best to wait for benchmark. IF GTX 460m performance is going to be standing strong for the next few years like GTX 260m then it would be worth the money. Cheers! thumbup.gif

QUOTE(DoubleU @ Sep 14 2010, 07:29 PM)
hey guys, if I order with gentech, using the usps standart (149 USD) one... how long will it take? 2 months? cause its freight right? It doesn't include insurance either right?

So its better to use the UPS one that comes with insurance? Is gentech the best one to use if i'm shipping it back to msia? and also... with the item be taxed when it arrives here?
*
I used a freight forwarding service comgateway.com, using DHL..they charge only usd100 (and I used Gentech Pc within US free shipping)..takes about 1 1/2 weeks (due to weekend) to reach my doorstep...
