You need to repaste or send to Asus to fix it. Normal G73 should be below 60C.

Just asking , how long have you used your laptop?  When did you get your laptop?

I'll post up the links when I get home la.

i bought this used 2nd hand from a friend last week. he bought it in Aussie on june. so its like 6 months old. (another 18 months warranty) condition still great 9.5/10 smile.gif

Here are the 3 main threads on repasting.

This a rough video on the disassembly of your G73.

What i'll do if i were you, go through the BTO video. Then, ask around, like NBR forums on how to repaste properly. Then, take it nice and slow on taking apart your G73.

If you are really uncomfortable of doing it, i think, you have to RMA it.

I think you have to ask them, and make sure they know what are they doing.

Well, if you take apart your laptop, and didnt actually ruined anything, how would they know you disassemble it. It's a pretty gray area.

hmm, pretty interesting case. btw, can i ask, how do u know it fail on you?
i mean, is it the GB drop on RAM?
*
The notebook kept hang when I watched YouTube's vids. After several times of force shut down, it will appear blue screen. After that, I changed one of the RAM out of the module and it ran smoothly. For sure, this is the prob. wink.gif

oh you can RMA individual pieces? could I just send ASUS my wifi card and ask for an exchange?
*
Yea. You can as long as you have confirmed that that particular hardware failed on you.

Hello, I don't have an ASUS G-series laptop, but I do have an almost 2-year old ASUS laptop. I was wondering if I can bring my laptop to the service centre to service. (clean fans/check stuff etc) The fan had been noisy lately and my DVD player is making weird noises. My laptop is still under warranty, does it mean the service will be free?

Does anybody have any experience with this?
*
depends on them, u can complain dvd player making weird noises. Cleaning i'm not sure but it should be free. My asus 3 years old already. nod.gif

No worries, and good luck for it.

Would appreciate if you can post how you do it and the results after that.

Wait, do you mean did i put the battery on the laptop?

My battery is always full, and pretty much used as a backup power supply. Always attached to the laptop.

I think i can look into the effects of having the battery on or not.

thanks for that tips jeffrey. btw, anyone know IMBI asus contact number? as i dont really have the guts to change the wifi card myself -- perhaps ill ask them to do. that would be free right ? and how many times we can ask the official MALAYSIA asus service center to do this replacement/re-paste etc without any charge?

and one more thing, for the RMA, is it only i have 1 time opportunitites can RMA back to asus and after that i need to pay for that.
im not sure about this, thats why i'd ask.

thanks for helps

I always put the charger on, as playing with it , i think the battery will drain very fast.

Actually it is pretty simple. I just change mine to intel 6200N and it takes less than 5 min to do it. Unless you going to add 1 more antenna with the 6300N then it is different story.

next job: going to swap the optical drive with 3rd harddisk...

Added on December 27, 2010, 3:53 pmhm just got off the ASUS call centre, apparently we're not allowed to dismantle the G53jw by ourselves? Even if there is no warranty void sticker? hm... i guess i'll fix my wifi card in sydney....

@doubleU,

No, it's not convenient at all.

It's far and located on a road that have traffic congestion daily.
