hmm pretty high GPU temps during furmark (92C) @_@
The size is only slightly smaller than the G73, with the G73 more wider, while the G53 is thicker on the backside. @DoubleU http://www.comgateway.com/CGW/com.comgatew...%2F9Svc%3D#null express if you want the notebook fast, note that you have to take into account that it takes about 2 days from Gentech to Comgateway, and at least 1 day for Comgateway to sort out your package, payment..etc before they send out. a good thing about DHL is that their packages are moving 24/7, they don't deliver on sundays but you can arrange with them to collect yourself at their warehouse. GentechPC or XoticPC, both have very good representatives, i prefer xoticpc though, they seemed.. more professional. but alas, the deliver was slightly more expensive so I opted for Gentech.
yes it is indeed cheaper to get from US rather than SGD, even at conversion rate of 3.14, you'll most likely get that number nowadays when doing TT. Delivery will cost you around 100+ USD. when i calculated my total cost, it came down to RM5.7k, which is cheaper than SGD 2500 = approx. RM6k. |

QUOTE(Cheesenium @ Oct 26 2010, 09:28 AM) I think my G73JH is quite noisy, as the GPU is pretty much constantly spinning to lower the temps to 53C. Then, there is this soft scratching noise. Overall, im still satisfied with it. I'm on traditional HDD and it stays relatively quiet, even when im defrag. |

so for people that had the JH or JW for more than 3 months, how's the temperature holding up? were you using stock paste or purchased paste?

QUOTE(destee88 @ Nov 9 2010, 01:59 PM) mind ask is really worth it to buy RM 5+ laptop as technology thing very fast outdated adn technology is chainging very fast jus like G73JH and G73JW laptops have notorious value depreciation, you are already paying an expensive price for a less powerful machine (when compare to their desktop counterparts anyway). They also don't last as long and requires more care/maintenance.it comes down to lifestyle and mobility i guess, if you are the type to be moving very often, the machine is very well worth it. honestly, the JW and JH will be outdated once AMD 6000M series or the newer Nvidia 500M series as well as the Sandy-bridge processor hits. the AMD 6000 desktop series is already out as of Oct, realistically we should be expecting the mobility version Q1 next year Nvidia 500 desktop series is rumored to be out soon as well, it was discovered in the latest driver's inf file. Sandy Bridge will be available earliest Q1 next year. so theoretically speaking, the JW JH can probably last until end of next year. I'm pretty sure it can still handle most modern games well though. |

hey guys, quoting my own post from NBR.
QUOTE hey guys, so i left my notebook idle last night and when morning comes, it went into hibernate (i think it's hibernate because i see "Resuming Windows" instead of "starting windows"). anyway, upon entering window (took slightly longer than usual), a windows message popped up saying windows was shutdown due to some error. Upon examing the log, it says "bluescreen". I have the dump file but don't really know how to open/read it. Anyway, for the record. I was just downloading something before going to sleep, machine was not in any game at that time. Temps are normal (CPU 50C, GPU 42C), however, i forgot to reset my GPU OC settings to stock. Driver is nvidia 260.99 which i've used with no problems for the past few weeks. should i be worry about this? I've had no bsod on the unit before and it's bout 1month old any suggestion is welcome, thanks |

man when i look at the first page, i only see 2 JW owners here (including me), kinda disappointing. I'm having second thoughts with my JW, any JH owner here having heat problems, trackpad/keyboard, GSOD problems for their new JH models? (Oct and onwards).
and alienware m15x just got 460M refresh, i wanted a 15incher originally D; and GTX 580 just came out, GTX470M on sager notebooks D; I'm already feeling outdated. This post has been edited by thxxht: Nov 12 2010, 11:42 AM |

QUOTE(DoubleU @ Nov 12 2010, 10:36 PM) i paid using TT, and delivery charge i'm not too sure yet. Cause UPS says its 16lbs (7-ish kg, if count the its around 80 USD) but something about volumetric weight? need to check.... they almost always charge by volumetric since the box is pretty big and takes up alot of space.it takes bout 1 day for comgateway to resend your package, make sure to bug them when your package arrived at their warehouse. Their customer service is actually in Singapore, so you can call or use the browser chat with them to confirm, make sure to write down your invoice number. QUOTE(DoubleU @ Nov 12 2010, 11:04 PM) ok thanks for the tips you should get your invoice number the instance your order was confirmed at GenTech, use that number as your reference.the invoice number they'll give me once my package arrives? (maybe try to find the singapore number to call) actually could you run me through how comgateway will work? Once the package reached comgateway, it will take sometime for them to enter the package to their system. But you will want to make sure the package is really at their place. you can contact them either via telephone or via live chat (see bottom of page). I used live chat, and was able to get the customer service around 10am in the morning. To make sure the package has arrived at their place, let them know your tracking number (if you have one) after that, go to their webpage, check under "Packages at US address" they will scan a copy of the invoice, you should be able to see your numbers, address and name on that scan. You should be able to click on a confirmation button and proceed to delivery method (normal or express) and payment..etc. |

if it's arriving at Oregon (comgateway) in 17 Nov, then expect it start shipping on 18 Nov, it should take about 2 days of travel to reach Malaysia.
your package will stop by in HK, then either go direct to malaysia or go to singapore first. see my tracking history for reference. QUOTE(usen @ Nov 17 2010, 02:09 PM) if 1.8k include shipping then it's more or less the same as everyone else. usually the G73jw cost around 1700+ USD. assuming you are getting the fullspec one instead of the lesser spec one. |

QUOTE(lookig4room @ Nov 19 2010, 01:56 PM) Hello guys, hmm.. higher markup for the G73... wonder why.Is putochip123 a trustworthy person to buy your laptop from? This thread is his thread. He asked me to bank in the full amount of rm 5300, then the laptop will be shipped to my home. http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=1634873&hl= I find it really risky to bank in rm 5300 to someone I never deal with before. Is there anyone who have done deal with putochip123 before here? Can you tell me if putochip123 did a good, honest deal with you? G53jw markup about RM300 G73jw markup about RM500 @_@ he's probably getting higher margin for bulk orders and delivery too. would like to find out the suppliers still beats sitting around waiting 3 weeks for your laptop to arrive i guess. QUOTE(Jeffrey1987 @ Nov 20 2010, 09:02 PM) normal as in mainstream laptops that you can buy from any local outlets. i don't see gaming laptops as being normal laptops, they defy or outright go against the point of laptops, which is portable, easy to maintain, decent battery life, cheap, versatile..etc. They are heavy, power hungry, expensive, not portable, require more care and maintenance..etc. yet there is a niche market for it, afterall, i do own one. When i whip out my G73 among my friends, they all looked at it and shake their heads, so yea... not exactly normal. |

QUOTE(Adin @ Nov 22 2010, 02:40 PM) Anyone did a clean install on yours G73 or G53? I mean "clean" is install the Windows 7 hp then only install the drivers and software that Asus provided (Not the recovery from asus). Any problem with that. I heard some guys did that but the top left 3 buttons will not working properly after that. all the hotkey/button applications can be found on the driver DVD that comes with your purchase. if some are missing, you can download them at ASUS's site. I know asus "Splendid" is for the r.o.g button, the lights button is probably tied to Asus hotkey, not sure about the twin turbo button. Added on November 22, 2010, 3:17 pmcan anyone recommend any messenger type bag for the G73 ? or a good place to buy them (in malaysia) ? This post has been edited by thxxht: Nov 22 2010, 03:17 PM |
