Guys, can any of you assist me?

Philips DVP3520k and I would like to connect it to my PC Speakers

Thing is, this has 2 RCA outputs (left and right) and my pc speakers are a 2.1 system w/ 3.5mm jack.

Philips: Rear Connections Analog audio Left/Right out, Composite video (CVBS) output, Digital coaxial out, ComponentVideo out Progressive

How do I tailor my speakers to work w/ the DVD player?

Can guys provide me some step by step instructions?

I know a RCA -> 3.5mm converter is used but the player only has left and right RCA but none for subwoofer.

the subwoofer gets the audio feed from the 3.5 mm jack.. unless you're talking about a 5.1 or 6.1 system where you'll have a direct feed to the sub from the dvd.. but yours hasn't got one.. so...

do i connect the subwoofer feed (3.5mm) into a 3.5mm converter?

then where do i plug the 3.5mm/RCA converter? into the right or left audio RCA?

just plug in the 3.5mm to stereo RCA cable from your pc speaker to the philips dvd player.

FYI, all the sounds ouput from that stereo out RCA connection will be in stereo. even though the source is in Dolby or dts 5.1, it'll be downmixed automatically be the player to stereo.

even the LFE and bass from all the channels will be compressed into that stereo signal...delivered and played on your pc speaker.

I believe you could buy RCA to 3.5mm adapter in lowyat. My case is the other way round I bought 3.5 to RCA adapter for connection from PC to amplifier.

Edited: Oic your concern was the subwoofer channel. My brother back in hometown connect his handphone(using 3.5 jack so shud be only stereo channel) directly to 2.1 speaker, bass is OK and hearing closely only bass sound came out of subwoofer. I think most subwoofer will have some sort of internal crossover to filter out treble sound so that only bass sound come out of subwoofer.

like i've said.. since your dvd player only have the audio rca red and white outs.. that means it is an analog stereo output..

to be able to connect to your pc speakers you'll have to buy a female rca to female 3.5mm cable..
this assuming your pc speakers have a 3.5mm cord attached to it
i am also assuming your dvd player comes with a video and audio cable in the box.

if thats the case
1- connect rca cable red and white to audio out and rca yellow to video out on the back of your dvd
2- connect the video out cable to video in on your tv
3- connect the rca red and white to your newly bought converter cable
4- connect the pc speakers cable to your converter jack..

and you've done it...

the only downside to this kind of connection is that you do not get a dedicated subwoofer channel
and you do not get dts

do not be confused by the so called 2.1 speakers .. all it means is stereo speakers with subwoofer and not a three channel thing..
