the amount of light that reach sensor is same regardless the aperture size provided you shoot at nominal exposure from same metering (if u use A mode, change the aperture still change the shutter speed)

but then, if you have wider aperture, the light gather ability is stronger, and hence the correct term i think should be
"A wider maximum aperture means that less time for exposure is needed"

don't forget his fund is to buy house..

seriously, unless assignment, people usually* don't out vacation with all their big cannon + heavy body, so nex a good buy.. but instead of 18-55, maybe if can wait for 18-200? (not so sure will it pair and sell with nex3/5) then it will be better

i'm pretty sure you can get around 4++ around kl area.. zaloon is slight expensive with good service, some shop in kl is good price with lousy service.
i remembered my friend bought one is rm450 only at lowyat
