Hi all camera pros, this is the first time I started to learn to take photo using DSLR. And now I'm still thinking which DSLR camera I should get....

Firstly, Canon is out... straightly. Cause I don't like the quality of photo. So now left Nikon and Sony. At first I was thinking of D90, then I read the details of this DSLR and found out this camera has been produced since 2008 shakehead.gif . I worry that the D90 will be kicked out in few months time.

And recently Nikon release new DSLR which is D3100, and Sony produced quite a number of DSLR, A55, A33, A560 and A580. My budget is between 2k to 3.5k. I am hoping for the intermediate level DSLR cause I worry beginner camera will not last long ( less functions to play with ). And those Sony new DSLRs' price are not yet revealed. ( I'm sure some of you guys roughly know the price ). So anyone can recommend? Should I go for Intermediate DSLR now or wait for the new DSLR release around Oct or Nov? I really hope u Sony fans will help me so I might become a Sony fans tongue.gif

I am just curious why do you think the Canon's photo quality is not to your liking....?

The A55 / A580 should be the intermediate Sony cameras which you should be looking for. The Nikon D90, no doubt is rather old, but is still among the best specified and best performance intermediate Nikon camera there is. The ergonomics of this camera is really good. The only other cameras which I had held before with better ergonomics are the Sony A700 & the A850 / A900 bodies. The Canon bodies are not as nice to hold. The Sony A230 / A330 cameras are downright horrible to hold. Hahaha.... hope the A230 / A330 users are not seeing this.... tongue.gif

Actually I dont know why... My first digital camera is Kodak Camera, the colour is really impress during that time. I have quite a number of friends who have Canon, Nikon and Sony DSLR camera. When bunch of frens show me the photos, I can tell which photo is being taken by Canon and which is not. ( Really, but not every photo lah, I'm not that geng doh.gif ). Somehow the photo that is taken by Canon shows very unnatural and it looks very bright. Whereas Nikon and Sony did not show those problem mostly. That's the reason i do not choose Canon without even looking at Canon spec. brows.gif

Even though a lot of people are telling me there are lots of lenses around for Canon compare to other brand. But for me perception, the most important is the natural quality of photo taken, not how many types of lenses can be put in or keep comparing which megapixel is higher LOL. I am just a starter, and I'm not so eager to become professional cameraman. Taking photo is purely my hobby, as long photo is pretty and natural, I'm happy. biggrin.gif

Anyone know when will the A580 release? November or October? How did you all estimate the price? By including lenses as well? I'm quite noob about this. blush.gif

Where did you find this price from? Sim Lim Square? Cause I'm going to Singapore. Might take a look.

And I found out the battery life for A55 is just 500 shot, is it true? 500 shot is like.... very short =___=

Wow.... A55 is only cost RM2799 with kit lens....... With this kind of new technology, I'm so gonna get this DSLR for good.. Forget about A580.... Time to get this in my cart. brows.gif

But with this kind of price made me wonder..... is this DSLR a beginner or Intermediate DSLR? The price does look like beginner DSLR price... hmm.gif

Interesting thought. Would you had bought the A55 if it was priced at RM4999.00 and consider it as a mid-level / pro-level camera?  laugh.gif

Read into Sony's marketing strategy and you may find some answers to your questions. I myself is still thinking about this same question and had not found an acceptable answer yet....  sweat.gif

Maybe that new technology does not require mirror which might cost RM1000 in the making that reduce the cost majorly? brows.gif
