Hi Darkplacid,

The following inquiries are answered in blue as below.

QUOTE(darkplacid @ Aug 23 2010, 04:01 PM)

1) Is it possible to only enter the game tournament and not the gaming rig event?
Yes, you can choose to enter either one, or both.

2) Do we need to bring our own desktop? (Cause in the rules you say that need set up time and the graphic settings rules)
You are encouraged to participate in the Best Customized PC category with your Intel Processor.

3) If we do need to bring our desktop will I still be able to join if I am using AMD processor instead of Intel?
Only Intel Processors are allowed. Razer Keyboard & Mouse, and Intel Processors will be provided if you wish to participate in the SC II Tournament Category.

4) If we do need to bring our desktop, are we still subjected to the igh tecture rule even if our computer cannot support it?
If you bring your own desktop with the frame of mind to win the Best Customized PC Category, then you should have no problem. If we witness that your CPU is having problem running it on high, we will provide you with an Intel Processor and you will still be eligible for the SCII Tournament Category.

5) Even if gaming equipment are offered do we have the option to use our own gaming equipment?
Yes. However, you will only be required to bring your CPU to entitle your participation in the Best Customized PC Tourney Category

6) Will these games be broadcasted? If not, then i do not think that chatting is anything wrong because it will only hurt the player back itself unless he use any bad words.
R&R have been revised. We appreciate your feedback. Keep it coming. Cheers.

7) What are the location of the FTZ the event is held? As i know there are quite a few in Penang Island.
Exact location are at 28A, Jalan Abu Sitilane, 11400, George Town, Penang.

8) Why KL time starts at 5PM while Penang at 12PM? This time frame is against people who are working especially since you announce this tournament (AUG 19) for Penang people quite close to the tournament date(AUG 27). People who are working (Like myself) are unable to apply for leave in time because we are only given a 1 week time frame.
We have revised the time to begin at 12 pm - 10pm. Again, we appreciate the feedback and we hope you can attend it at your desired convenience - albeit without much hassle. Cheers.

That clear up a few things. If i am there for the SC2 competition only? Will a desktop be supplied to me?
*
EDIT: Intel's has confirmed their statement that ONLY those that bring their own Intel CPU's are entitled to participate in the StarCraft II Competition.

Okay now that solves everything except for the time... I afraid i cant make it at 12PM. Is it possible to talk to the sponser to change the time to around 2PM maybe? Unless they wanna reschedule to another day. Im afraid that there will not be many participants. (Correct me if im wrong)
*
We express full regret for any participants that could not make it as we too hope that you will have a convenient scheduling on the event date itself. However, the time and date are fixed as for now. Shall there be any additional updates, it will be posted here. Once more, we thank you for your time as we welcome all form of feedback to further improve our tournament. Cheers.

yeah. hopefully can do it on weekend. Friday, many working person wont be able to attend.

i am interested in sc2 event but wont be able to make it during day time coz i am working.

or can you tell us, does the 2 event (sc2 and PC customization) starts together? if not then what time the sc2 event will start?
*
Both events starts simultaneously and will run consecutively. Basically, all you need to do is bring along your Customized Build Intel CPU and join in the SC II Tournament. From here, judges will monitor your Customized PC and allocate the top 3 best or coolest PCs to win. This monitoring is done offline and will not interrupt your tournament play. At the Closing Ceremony, the winners from both categories will be announced and presented with their prizes.

QUOTE(darkplacid @ Aug 24 2010, 12:40 AM)
I agree with dieCast... Can we have the event schedule so maybe we can make it in time for the competition?
*
I agree. We are currently in the midst of working with our sponsors to finalize a specific time-frame which is overall completed and will post the event schedule here very soon. smile.gif

QUOTE(k1LL/st3aL @ Aug 24 2010, 01:26 AM)
Some contradicting rules, and actually quite unorganized. It's not a good idea to remove some lines from the gomtv rules, because it made the rules much more difficult to understand. I feel like that the rules could be way more organized than this.
*
Hi k1LL/st3aL,

I will immediately forward this matter to our head Marshall to proof-check for inconsistencies and overlapping rules. Thanks for the input.

Hi all. I have taken note of all your inquiries, sorry for the delay. I will post back to answer all questions and inquiries once they have arrived.

QUOTE(ataris @ Aug 24 2010, 10:35 AM)
Dear SMM,

Hows are we going to play the game on LAN ?

Or each PC is individually connected to Battle.net ?
*
Hi Ataris,
The games will be played via logging in to your Battle.net SEA account. Since the tournament will be played at a Cyber Cafe (FTZ Asia.net to be exact), it will be like a normal tourney, except no LAN as SC II does not permit that capability.

QUOTE(Rambo_pang43200 @ Aug 24 2010, 11:46 AM)
and I wanna know that, since there are 2 categories running at the same day, which means there will be possible 2 winners from different category, or just only 1 with both PC and SC2? (even though it is possible too)
*
Hi Rambo,
There will be two winners from each respective categories. However, it is also possible to obtain both the SC II champion title by winning 1st place and notching the best customized Intel PC if your desktop is the coolest and best.

QUOTE(darkplacid @ Aug 24 2010, 02:56 PM)
Guys something is still not clear,

There are 2 events,

1) SC2 Competition
2) Mod PC competition

If i join only the SC2 Competition

1. Are we required to bring our own PC?
2. If yes does it need to have an Intel processor?
3. If no will a PC be provided for us gamers?

I am receiving mix answer from SMM & Intel Marketing. According to the post above, SMMGaming says that they will provide PC.
In another email I receive from Intel, they say that all participant must bring they own PC and must run on Intel Processor only.

Can you please help me clarify?
*
Hi Darkplacid,
At the moment, I'm unable to give a staunch answer however I will re-confirm this with you as soon as possible. Sorry for any confusion occurred.

QUOTE(k1LL/st3aL @ Aug 25 2010, 01:21 AM)
np.. just trying to help out and wanted to make sure that everyone could understand the rules properly lol.. so for the customized pc competition, what criteria are taken into account in order to win?
*
Hi again k1LL/st3aL,
In regards to the criteria for best customized PC, Intels moto for the Best Customized PC Category is "Customize. Build. Play". I believe that the judging is conducted base on each CPU's uniqueness for "Best" & "Coolest" and thus - I'm afraid I can't say much on this matter but Good Luck! biggrin.gif. Perhaps you can email them at gamingparty@in2.com.my to inquire for further guidelines and rules of thumb to win.

Hi again Darkplacid,
As referred to your previous inquiry, Intel's has confirmed their statement that ONLY those that bring their own Intel CPU's are entitled to participate in the StarCraft II Competition. Kindly submit all registrations to gamingparty@in2.com.my to ensure that you have confirmed a place in the Tournament as slots are limited and comes on a first come first serve basis. We apologize for any inconvenience & misunderstandings caused.

QUOTE(EdgarNg @ Aug 25 2010, 12:34 PM)
Dear SMM,
1.Issit allowed to use 3rd party program to change hotkey?

2. Can we listen to music while playing? ie (through our own headphones with youtube on the background or mp3)
Thanks smile.gif
*
The use of 3rd party program to change hotkeys are not advisable as it will disregard the fairness for all participants. The usage of music while playing is also not encouraged as there will be marshals overseeing the game as they might need to interact with you from ear-point at any given time.

SMM,

Please confirm about the PC desktop thing. I bet not most of the player using "Intel" to run the SC2.

If this tournament is entitle to bring the own PC with Intel processor only can participate in SC2 tournament, It will cost trouble for the people who just wanna play SC2.

Seriously, I contacted the Mygame-Lim and he ask me to send email to gamingparty@in2.com.my and I only got the reply from inquiry.

and, I wanna know that, I have send my registration email on Sunday and there is no confirmation replied to me and I am still wondering should I go grab myself a ticket? I don't want to reach there and these may happen:

1) I see my name not appear in anywhere and I am stupid standing there and watch.

2) my name is there~ Great What a happy moment. Mr Rambo, do you bring your own PC? No, I dont.
Sorry then, you have read the rules and you fail to accomplish it. Sorry, you are out.

Funny huh? I am kinda serious right now.

Added on August 25, 2010, 1:40 pm
Can you intro me the 3rd party software related to SC2 to change the hotkey?
*
Hi Rambo,
Please refer to my previous reply on Darkplacid, I've highlighted it in red. For add-on, This is Intel's gaming party - thus they require you to bring an Intel CPU to entitle yourself to participate in this event. Once you register at gamingparty@in2.com.my, a customer service personnel will contact you regarding your registration and confirmation. If that has not happened yet, kindly re-submit an inquiry email to confirm your registration.

Hi fellas,
Thanks for sharing your views and thoughts of this event. We, along with Intel plan to make this a hassle free experience for you as well. However, circumvent to some inevitable implementations, had caused some mishaps for your gaming pleasure. We will rally our ideas across for the FTZ Asia.net (Subang Jaya, 17th September) to make the R&R more clear and fairly reinstated. Once more, you guys show a lot of enthusiasm and fervor - and we hope you can join at FTZ Asia.net Subang Jaya!

QUOTE(xShinji @ Aug 26 2010, 12:15 AM)
@SMM , is laptop allowed?

and let me confirm this again.....it just getting more confusing as i read along

Do you guys provide PC for the event?

if I bring mine, while mine cant go with High reso .....only able play Low....is it ok? no harm to the game rite?

and ...let say my fren join too...can i borrow their pc? since it should not be every1 playing at the same time
*
hi xShinji,
Laptop ain't allowed as you will need to utilize the Razer keyboards and mouse provided by the sponsor. Apart from that, Laptops has little room for customization to be eligible for the Best Customized PC Category. If you opt to bring your CPU and it cannot run on High res, even if the rules states that you must, our marshals will still permit you to play without any disqualification. However if your CPU can run on high res, we will advise you to certainly do so. One of the reasons this is being done is so that Intel can professionally monitor your CPU for the "Best Customized PC Category" to view your overall performance and Intel Processor workrate.

u dint my answer my question ....

Can i borrow other CPU for SC2 event?

(my laptop do able to play in "high" reso...just prefer low )
*
hi again xShinji,

You will need to bring your own CPU (*customized) to entitle yourself to participate in both categories. By borrowing someones else CPU defeats the purpose of a Customize. Build. Play gaming party that Intel strives for. smile.gif
