Recently, i had applied SCB credit card by using existing credit card.
My existing credit card,
1) Eon bank gold with credit limit = RM5k
2) AM bank gold with credit limit = RM5k

The salesman ask me to submit this 2 credit cards to apply, in help me to get higher credit limit more than 5k.
Besides, the salesman said that got cash rebates, RM98 .
THen RM 50 is for GST, then i still got RM38 can use for free.

After approve, i received the credit card.
However, i saw the credit limit only RM4k.

Shall i phone to SCB bank to activate the card?
Or Directly cancel the credit card,
as i feel that credit limit RM4k is really nothing.
I do not wish to hold too many cards.

Actually my orignal plan is to apply this card to get 10 limit
therefore i can cancel eon bank and am bank.
Then i can save RM100 GST from that 2 cards.

Any advise?

From what I understand, if you apply CC by this year, even you didnt activate, you are liable to pay for the GST, since it will immediately imposed on your first statement. But I think you should call SCB customer service to clarify this matter.

Sometimes when you hold too much credit card, Bank will see it as a commitment of 10k, and they wont give you another 10k credit. The best way before you apply new credit card or loan is you cancel the unused credit card first so it wont appear on CCRIS.

SCB CC had rebate me RM88, then RM50 had paid for GST
I still got RM38 for free.

However, i am not satisfy with the credit limit which RM4k
Besides, i do not want to hold many cc.

The purpose i hold SCB , it is because want to apply CL 10k
Then i can cancel the other bank cc , which each card limit is rm5k

Then i can save 2 cc GST, and 2 cc annual fees

However now fail, i wish to cancel scb.
is it a good way? or got other solutions?

As you mentioned, you got RM38 credit from SCB with your new card. so you actually gain as far the government tax is concerned. Might as well keep it for a year.

As for saving RM50 tax from AMBank and EON Bank, call both banks and see if they willing to absorb the RM50, tell them you are considering to terminate the card if they say got no incentive/program . If both banks willing to absorb the RM50, then you loose nothing. If both do not want to absord the RM50 tax, change to HLB.
*
if apply for HLB, also need to pay RM50GST.

I can cancel Eon bank and AM bank anytime
But my principle still own money to them (EPP program)

Is it will affect me to cancel the credit card?

Just sharing, for SCB credit card,
Recently applied for SCB card,
finally today they sent me the cc.
I phone to scb to argue for the credit limit.
Cause the credit limit is below my other bank credit limit, and my current montly salary.

The customer told me that, i must activate the cc, and use for six month, then only can request for 6 months.

So sad that I need to hold this card for 6 months, therefore, i ask them to cancel the card immediately wihtout activate this card.

Anyone can share, if your current salary is RM3k, then you credit limit also RM3k or above?

were you required to pay for the GSt?
*
Should said that i had paid RM50 for GST

SCB gave me RM88 for the rebates, then this amount deduct RM50 for GST.

But, i dont want to use this card, cause nothing special!

Today I check my UOB cc.
They suddenly increase my credit limit from 3k to 6k
Maybe they know that i going to cancel this card while the GST due!

But, i cannot cancel this principle card, as my suppliment card,
they are currently run EPP plan, which still got 10 months to finish the installment.

Competitions are stiff in LYplaza. Perhaps they squeeze their profit margin to the maximum in order to offer the best price.
Depends on the situation lor. If the price after adding 2% is still cheaper than other shop, then go for it.

I bet most merchants dare not to put an item "credit card surcharge" in the bill because they know they'll get penalty if customers go to complain.

Last time, when i went to Hervey Norman to buy LCD TV which cost around RM4k.
Then staffs wish to charge me 3 % of RM4k,
At the end, i dont want to buy the LCD TV.

I am not sure, whether 3% of credit charge, should charge to customer?
Is it legal?
If we face this situation again, we should phone to bank to complaint or the shop management?

"I am not sure, whether 3% of credit charge, should charge to customer?"
- They shouldn't charge the extra 3% to the customer. In fact they should give the customer 3% discount so as to encourage more customers to use their cc's and therefore gain more business. doh.gif

"Is it legal?"
- You need to ask a lawyer that since most of us are just laymen when it comes to legal matters. doh.gif

"If we face this situation again, we should phone to bank to complaint or the shop management?"
- But of course, not only should you phone up the bank to complain, you can also make a report to the consumer's association and if you really hate that retail outlet you can try to cause more problems for them by even making a police report! doh.gif

But wouldn't it be so much easier if you just pay cash unless you are the very contentious kind of person just all out to cause problems! doh.gif

To purchase some items that worth RM5k , and enjoy 0% interest for 24 months,
I think it is better pay by credit card instead of cash.

I try to ask customer service in bank and see how they reply me.

Informed me that,
i cannot cancel the credit card, due to scb had made GST payment and RM38 to me.
If i really want to cancel, i had to wait after 6 months.

Haiz, scb force me to activate the card and use!
I really dislike this credit card!

Try writing to BNM and complain. Your chance is slim but no harm to try it out.
*
do you have BNM website that can direct complaint?

Have u read the T&C clearly which have such rule to block u cancel the cc within 6 months???

I think the salesperson also not clear at all.
They just asking me to apply, which said that, will higher than my current credit card limit,
also will double with my current salary.
Manatahu the credit limit only RM4k.

Feel that no point to hold this credit card, maybe will try for HSBC or CIMB!
