That's why ... don't get why many people need an agent to help them to apply credit card. We can do this ourselves and follow up on our own. Doesn't take much of our time ... I do not even use agent's service to renew my motor insurance policy now. I just pay directly to AIG (now known as Chartis) and i get 10% rebate every year  thumbup.gif
Try the local bank first such as CIMB Bank and Maybank.

Hi there,

To get 10% rebate for your motor insurance, do you have to go to a Chartis branch to pay the premium? Or can just ask Chartis via standing instruction to automatically charge your credit card?

OCBC's Titanium Mastercard being the best cash rebate card as of today, which card is no. 2 strictly in terms of cash rebates  (or even in terms of points after conversion to equivalent RM)? AMEX Gold CC, Direct Access Mastercard? (Standard Chartered JustOne Mastercard Titanium to be excluded as it is no longer available). Many thanks to all forumers!

Got a letter from OCBC declining my Tit Card application vmad.gif

Amex is out despite its attractive rebates since I can't use it to pay certain bills.

Am now considering either DA Gold Mastercard or Alliance You.nique Gold (Great Rebate option).

Direct Access credit card holders,

Help me out please icon_question.gif

a) Can I pay the Direct Access credit card bills at any CIMB bank counter, CIMB Card Centre, or CIMB ATM?

b) For reward redemption, can I collect it from any CIMB Card Centre?

c) If I want to pay Direct Access credit card bills via Maybank2U's Interbank GIRO Transfer, I have to choose "CIMB Bank", right?, since "Direct Access" is not in the list of banks.

I thought some forummer in here appealed his case of cc application being declined and finally succeeded in getting approval. You should do the same.
*
But I don't know what to appeal on, since OCBC won't reveal the reason for declining sad.gif

I meet the income requirements, no bad CCRIS record and no overexposure.

Maybe you could seek travelyew's advice.

Do you have any documents showing other forms of income like rentals, FD certs, money in savings a/c, land grants, stocks and shares etc...anything to help out your case. More often than not its not really what you own that needs to be shown but rather HOW you argue your case.

Good luck.
*
Ok, I'll read up travelyew's posts and see how he did it. Thanks.

Dear all,

If a courier arrives at my apartment to deliver my credit card and I'm not in, what would happen to the card? Will he leave the card in my mailbox?

I don't want to put my office as the delivery address as I might be changing jobs soon.

Just saw a advertisement by public bank at esso with new cc i.e. public esso card which up to 8% discount for esso petrol. But i can't find any info on public bank website.
*
Great! I hope this new card by Public Bank will give the OCBC Tit Card a run for its money.

The problem now is they are using normal mail instead of cheapest courier service in town. And what I'm pissed off is the CS keep asking me to wait and call wait and call, until after one month ask me to get another card when my refund is in process.
*
I have to disagree with you. Prefer to receive my cards (and anything else) by normal post. Courier is more secure but it's too much hassle to wait in person for the courier, especially since I'm staying alone. The best solution will be Post Express - don't have to receive it in person yet it is a registered mail.

Depend on courier company, for post laju, normally will leave a card to inform u to take it at nearest post office.
For others, normally will call u after few times failed to reach u.
*
Thanks for the info.

Looks like OCBC doesn't want my business. Had an unpleasant experience with the staff who I contacted for my appeal. In the future, I won't deposit a single sen in this bank sad.gif

My first choice now is DA, followed by You.nique. PB's Esso credit card doesn't appeal to me, though I might get the debit card since it's free for life.

By the way, CIMB Bank has also partnered many restaurants that give 10% - 20% off total bill if you pay using their card. HSBC has many such promotions too but CIMB Bank has even more such partner restaurants.

Oh, and the bonus points required to redeem for shopping voucher is the lowest among all the banks in Malaysia too  thumbup.gif
*
blush.gif This is going to sound silly but ....

Do I just need to silently hand the restaurant cashier the DA/CIMB card and the 10-20% discount off the total bill will automatically be given? Or do I need to inform the cashier that his restaurant offers discount to DA/CIMB card holders?

We are on the same boat bro, being rejected by OCBC as well. Now have to continue using my DA MasterCard, my life long credit card  laugh.gif

I'm going to be a DA card holder too, soon, hopefully tongue.gif

If your application approved, although u not receive the card, u still need to pay RM50 for GST.
U better check it.
*
Nah, my application was declined. I received the "you are not succesful" letter less than 10 days after I submit my application. I tried to get the agent to find out the reason. She said she'll try but since then she has not called me or answered my calls.

It is better to inquire the cashier or captain in advance.
However, Dragon-i and Canton-i has got a lot of CIMB/DA cardmembers dining there, I assume the cashiers are quite experienced already.

I see. Thanks!

Dear all,

I've a friend who had his OCBC Titanium application declined. I'm asking this on his behalf:

If he has RM150k in a current account, is it enough and possible to get OCBC to change its decison? And how to proceed to get OCBC to "change its mind" - e-mail cap@ocbc.com?

He meets the income requirement and has good CRIS record, no late payment ever.

Hope someone can help.

6/9/2010 Submitted form via fax
21/9/2010 Received call from Credit Processing Team (a sweet voice lady) that my NRIC & cc photocopy were too dark, and was asked for clearer copies. I resubmitted the form via email given by her.
30/9/2010 Called OCBC Automated Self Service and was told application was successful! rclxm9.gif

This is my experience with OCBC smile.gif

Congrats! I'm happy for you thumbup.gif

My experience is that you do not need to tell them. They will automatically give you the rebate. Just make sure you check the receipt before signing on it. Amarin Heavenly Thai for instance, always automatically gives me the rebate whenever i pay using my HSBC credit card.

Noted. Thanks!

Don't trust the agent, i face the same problem too.
She said will call me back, but i didn't any call at all.
I called back after 2 days, the answer really disappointed.

Maybe we got the same agent doh.gif

Mind telling me how and who you appealed to until you manage to get the Titanium Card?

PMs are welcome.
