SCB World card is not so dull... at least more colorful with design,, requirements is lower than some bank plat card,, haha
*
However, the benefit offered by this card is not better than SCB Business Platinum series.

Finally I received the SCB World MC today. It shares the same CL with my existing JustOne Titanium MC and the CL remains unchanged.

The funny thing is that the new card was not attached to the World MC brochures. It was sent together with Platinum cc brochure instead, which states 0.5% cash back and 3x choice points for overseas purchases. doh.gif It was totally wrong. The staff who sent the cc to me must be unfamiliar with the new product.

I can't recall whether anyone mention it or not but do take note that the 5% rebate of utility/phone bills only applicable if you swipe the card at the merchant. Auto debit and online payment/transactions only entitled you for 1% rebate.

Looks like you have already done it. It only entitled you for 1% rebate. I have verified with the customer service. This is a tricky part.
*
I had consulted OCBC CS before I registered the card for autopay. I was informed that 5% cash back applies to utility and phone bill payment via autopay.

I shall wait for the next month's statement and know the answer exactly.

My SCB JustOne cc has hit the maximum annual cash back limit today. tongue.gif It is time to put this cc in cold storage for another 10 more months again.

for ocbc titanium, what is the cl like? can they match my citibank cl if i have rm30k?

I think OCBC will give you a lower CL.

QUOTE(ck3lam @ Sep 24 2010, 06:20 PM)
Finally, I have received email confirmation from the bank.
“5% rebate is applicable for Utility Bills regardless of how it is paid, whether through the counter, Call n Pay, Internet or Auto-Billings, so long that the correct Merchant Category Code is used (don’t worry, this is a standard requirement by MasterCard).”

Well, this sounds more sense to me. Looks like their CS needs to be improved a lot.
*
As told by the CS to me, all bills done via autopay will earn 5% as long as they are recognised as utility and phone bills.

the new gen just released early sept

At the shop that I redeemed the 2GB iPod shuffle, I saw the retail price of the old model was RM179.

On a different note, the last swipe of my SCB JustOne would exceed the maximum cash back. I eager to see whether I still can get more than RM600 this time around.

This is why i am so keen on the World MasterCard as their other cards do not get 2x Bonus Points for transactions transacted in foreign currency.

Frankly speaking, CIMB World MC's benefits are not even comparable to Platinum series offered by other banks, such as SCB.

SCB Platinum can grant you unlimited access to KLIA Plaza Premium Lounge, while CIMB World MC or VI, such a great joker, blocks you from entering airport lounges.

Besides, SCB Platinum can give you 3x points on top of 0.5% cash back for overseas transactions. You may feel SCB's admin fee on forex exchange is high but CIMB's rates are not much better. It's MBB who can give a better rate.

Tried to compare the exchange rate + admin fee charge by Standard Chartered Bank (a close friend is SC PB customer and she had their Platinum card**) with my CIMB Bank Gold MasterCard last time and the difference is pretty huge.

**SC PB customer were not given the SC VI card then

But still, their exchange rate + admin fee are just so expensive. Way higher than my HSBC credit card. I suppose this is the reason why they are able to give you 5x Choice Points which to me is simply a marketing strategy.
*
If you are on business trip and able to get full reimbursement from your company, who cares about admin fee on forex exchange. I have been taking advantage of the high cash back rates and huge points obtained from my CCs when undertaking assignments in overseas.

If I recalled years ago, when DA/ CIMB launched their VI, it used to come with Priority Pass membership, yes? I always thought that was a Visa Infinite (not bank related) feature? But seems to be gone now (Unless I'm mistaken, only SCB VI has it)
*
It was SCB VI that gave Priority Pass for airport lounges access. SCB VI is still be equiped with this feature. Forget about CIMB VI. Despite giving a minimum CL of RM100,000, CIMB VI has NOTHING to shout about. Its 0.5% cash back on local transactions is simply pathetic. It also does not allow you to access airport lounges, and not even KLIA Plaza Premium Lounge.

If you are really keen on VI from CIMB group, try to get DA VI instead of CIMB VI. At least you can get 2% cash back for petrol from DA VI.

I just came back from Pavilion and obtained an instant DA VI in 50 minutes. As CIMB/DA WMC and VI are not my cup of tea, I applied for DA VI because I just want to do BT with DA. I made an extremely big swipe using my SCB cc a few days ago. The developer allowed me to charge down payment via cc.

I have never done BT before. Since CIMB Group is having BT promotion of 0% interest for 6 months without upfront or handling fee, I should take full advantage of this promotion. I have my reserve fund in FD form to settle the down payment. With this 0% interest with CIMB, I can delay making payment. My fund can still be kept in FD for 6 months to earn a little bit of interest.

CIMB staff at Pavilion kept pushing me to get both WMC and VI. But I do not really like both WMC and VI from CIMB/DA so I only chose DA VI. By the way, the card does not look appealing as it is not a shiny type.

Hi What's the min CL to apply for the WMC and VI via walk-in at Pavilion? This is instant card approval process right?

Thanks
*
The 1-hour instant approval for CIMB/DA WMC and VI can only be done in Pavilion or Damansara Heights from 11pm to 3pm daily (Pavilion) and Monday to Friday (Damansara Heights) by end of September. Minimum income requirement is RM200,000 per annum

For instant card approval, even you have your existing card that meets the minimum CL requirement, they still want you to show your income statement to support your application.

But the other two guys who applied last week did not show their income document. They basically just gave them their existing HSBC credit card and that was it.

My existing cc meets the minimum CL as mentioned by Rokefeller. When I walked in to the counter this afternoon, the staff indicated that for faster result for DA application, it would be better to submit income document. So I submitted a copy of my SCB JustOne Titanium + EA form + Master's Degree certificate. I did not receive any call from them for clarification. I only returned to the counter after 45 minutes and was informed my card would be ready in 5 minutes. Also, they served me tea during the 5-minute waiting time.

Some Auto debit will have a different MCC, so it is not guaranteed that you will get the 5%. Swiping through merchant terminal is 100%. However, according to CS, so far there is no problem with utilities bills via autopay but there are exception. Some online payment may have different MCC.

For petrol station, 5% rebate only applicable for petrol and not purchase made at the corresponding shop/mart.

For groceries, so far only Giant is confirmed. Others like Tesco, Jusco, C4 may consider under departmental store MCC. You may not guaranteed to get rebate from it. The CS told me to try on these shops, and you will know from the next statement.

For dining, only restaurant (most of it) are eligible. But you will not get 5% rebate for cafe like Starbucks, coffee bean and so on.

For those who are getting the first statement this month, do share with us which merchant is entitled for 5%.
*
I have activated autopay for TNB, TM, DiGi and Astro, as well as spent at Coffee Bean and Tesco. The result will be known when I receive my statement next month.

As for my first statement, I only managed to swipe the card at ESSO, Parkson and Tangs. And yes, I obtained 5% for ESSO.

A few possible factors:

1. Which card did you apply for? CIMB or DA?
2. When did you apply? During weekday office hours or weekend?

It is quite difficult and troublesome to check the cash back details given by OCBC Titanium MC, if you have done too many transactions in the particular statement month. It only shows the cumulative cash back for 1% and 5% respectively.

you could bt to your ocbc titanium. it has a 0% BT offer as well
*
I have done enough research and comparisons before I decided to apply for DA VI. OCBC 0% interest BT promotion is not as good as BT programme from CIMB/DA, due to the following reasons:

1. OCBC allows you to transfer up to only 60% of your available CL, whereas you are allowed to transfer an outstanding balance of up to 100% of your available CL in CIMB/DA to CIMB/DA.
2. Under the OCBC BT programme, you need to settle a monthly fixed installment in order to avoid interest, whereas CIMB/DA BT allows you to pay only minimum payment every month without charging interest. You only need to settle in full in the 6th/7th month.
